Courtney Muro is a travel writer, content strategist, and video storyteller with bylines in Thrillist, Fodor’s Travel, and The Bold Italic. She is the founder of The Haute Bøhemian, a globally minded travel blog that explores culture, identity, and the true cost of travel, with a particular focus on Colombia, Cuba, Scandinavia, and San Francisco, California. She began her career in journalism and content marketing after earning her Master’s degree in Latin American policy from UCSD’s Global Policy and Strategy program. Since then, she’s created editorial, branded, and social content for companies like Adidas, TikTok, and the California Tourism Board. Courtney has been covering destinations professionally since 2010, when she wrote for Southeast Asia Backpacker Magazine while living in Vietnam and the Philippines. She’s also lived in Medellín, Colombia, Santiago, Chile, and in 4 Californian cities . She now resides in San Francisco. Her reporting blends immersive storytelling with practical insights for modern travelers. She’s especially drawn to destinations with strong cultural identities, unexpected contrasts, and stories that haven’t been told to death.
