These are called sea stones and interspersed on the walkways of the hotel garden paths. According to the gardener, my morning guide, the grooves and patterns are made by the ebb and flow of the local bay or ocean area where the stones are brought from. They reminded me of the stone patterns on the street of Eze or St Paul de Vince, only those were laid in flower and flowerpot patterns by man's hand.
