You see these lanterns across many of the streets here in Asakusa. At first I thought they were words of wisdom, you know, don't cook bacon naked, dont eat the yellow snow etc.  but they are actually advertisements.  Dog Dept for instance is a store.

This was interesting, after he was President, Ulysses Grant did a world tour and he stopped in Tokyo. He and the missus planted trees in Ueno Park, and they are still there. ( the trees, not U.S. Grant)
