An incredible coincidence. This lovely teen bridesmaid at a photo shoot there, was not only a student from the old elementary school that I once attended in Toronto, but she lived a block away from my childhood home! What were the odds?

Ann has alluded to her legal past. Hours after we photographed this court entry shadow, a promising young lawyer made her final departure there. A violent attacker murdered her when she was nearly home. Pretty sure that incident was somewhere in North London.

Perhaps you've heard of the controversial Bethnal Green Trio? That was the infamous trio of teen girls who went to become ISIS brides. They lived close to our rental, just a few blocks north. Their former Bethnal Green Academy has been renamed the Mulberry school. In recent interviews, their surviving member, Shemima Begum, seems not yet 100% repentant.

Time for some street art. Banksy moved the goalposts when it came to what defined street art and crucially, how it might be marketed in this modern digital age. Seen above, another artist's um, 'Shoreditch fisherman' mannequin? Imagine our surprise, when we learned days before departure that an old friend whom we hadn't seen in years, was now making his living selling Banksy prints!

This short book was actually by Banksy himself. But there exists a newish, second edition of a very-worthy bio. Fascinating and highly recommended. It describes the past 2 decades of the emergence of street art as a valued commodity (Banksy is very wealthy and could easily have been wealthier) as well as the meaning behind various street art stylings. There is also a new graphic novel about him, written by a pair of Italians. Note that his car is behind glass in Ely Place.

Time for some street art. Banksy has redefined the meaning of street art and as well, moved the goalposts for how art may be marketed during the digital age. His old car is now displayed behind glass in Ely Place. The above short book was actually produced by Banksy himself, but there is now a newish second edition to a well-done bio about him. Highly recommended. It describes not only his trajectory into superstardom. He is wealthy but could easily have become even wealthier had he wanted.

Banksy became very influential. Above, a fellow artist's lifesize 'Shoreditch Urban Fisherman' piece. Banksy not only redefined the meaning, construction and purpose of street art, but crucially as well, moved the goalposts regarding how art may be marketed during the digital age. He is a millionaire who could be even more wealthy if he wanted to. Imagine our surprise upon learning just prior to departure for England, that an old friend we'd not seen in years now sells Banksy prints for a living

Time for some street art. There are pedestrian spray-can specialists involved in graffiti. Then there is (sound of trumpets) BANKSY. He wrote the above short book. But there is actually a more comprehensive, now second edition, biography about his career arc. An Italian duo have also recently written a graphic novel about him.

These street artists near Box Park gave me Banksy's real name: Ray Gunningham. It wasn't really a secret anymore. Few artists in any genre were so successful for so long, in keeping their real names and images out of the public eye. The fellow on the right told me that he was an old acquaintance of Banksy's from their old Bristol art scene days. *btw, Banksy's old car is now behind glass in Ely place.

Read the poster from Allen gardens---seems a fair request, yeah? Banksy dabbled with spray cans early in his career, but has long been identified with his stencil mastery. The man is a genius, with his take on witty social comment. I see a straight line going from '60s protest songs to his works. A pair of his originals have recently been uncovered in the Shoreditch/Hoxton area, but seem to have been removed by opportunistic 'investors'.

Note how this artist signed 'Not Banksy'. A testament to his influence.
This was one of a few pieces throughout, that were protesting the recent murder of a woman by a perverted police officer. If memory serves, his arrest took some time, which caused some to question the impartiality of the process.

It was our understanding that a certain retired lawyer from St. Louis was being held for questioning with regards to this piece, which appeared on the façade of Buckingham palace. MI5 and Interpol found the painting gear below and are still in the process of comparing DNA.

Some pieces, like this offering on Toynbee street, were difficult to interpret beyond a purely whimsical level.

There was also good street art on our subsequent trip (to Montreal/Mrs Z's roots) but we'd give the nod to London's representation of that art form.

The celebrated Richmond Hill Terrace Walk viewpoint, across from Renwick pub. The snaking curve has been called an Arcadian Thames. It overlooks Terrace Gardens and ranks as the only English 'view' protected by Parliament. Its one of the most-painted pastoral landscapes in Britain: that beautiful landscape of meandering river plus lush, low-lying meadowlands. The 'Wick' historical mansion is nearby, former home to Ronnie Wood and Pete Townsend. Cattlemen used to pay grazing rights with posies!

Burra again. William Oglethorpe demos the preparation of his popular raclette dish at the Kappacasein cheese shop. His assistant spoke flawless Spanish, which delighted some tourists from Madrid. Some will recall how Burra suffered its own horrific terrorist event 5 years prior. A trio of terrorists rammed a van into pedestrians on the nearby bridge before storming past Southwark cathedral into the market where they stabbed market workers. Eight dead, 50 wounded.
