Where would you rather be?

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you rather be?

I'd rather be in New York City!

xxx Nov 7th, 2002 06:26 AM

In the keys in Islamorada on a boat fishing.

Rae Nov 7th, 2002 06:39 AM

I'd like to be in Vermont to see the autumn colours....or on Cape Cod looking out to sea.

Instead I'm stuck here in wet, miserable Swindon (ugh)....

Paris Nov 7th, 2002 06:58 AM

Paris. I would love to be in Paris right now.

Gina Nov 7th, 2002 07:27 AM

Sitting at a table under an umbrella overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Vernazza, Italy, eating Bel Paese cheese, crusty Italian bread and drinking the local white wine.
OR, at a table outside a cafe in Paris, drinking coffee, people watching. Either would be nice!
In the U.S.? Enjoying the hustle and bustle of Manhattan!

janeygirl Nov 7th, 2002 07:33 AM

Paris. Specifically, sitting in the little park across the street from my friend's flat, watching the neighborhood children play.

Dr. Head Nov 7th, 2002 07:51 AM

Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica!

Lenore Nov 7th, 2002 08:34 AM

Sitting on the edge of the pool in Wailea, Maui with a blue Hawaiian in one hand and my binoculars in the other, watching the whales play in the sapphire blue ocean. Ahhhh!

scarlett Nov 7th, 2002 08:37 AM

Tuscany, in a villa, overlooking vineyards, the smell of woodsmoke in the air.

~!~ Nov 7th, 2002 08:37 AM

Wolf Creek Pass - Colorado

J Nov 7th, 2002 08:41 AM

Port Douglas, Australia, diving the Great Barrier Reef.

Wanna Nov 7th, 2002 10:19 AM

London shopping in Covent Garden.

Sherry Nov 7th, 2002 10:21 AM

Minneapolis. My husband is there on business this week, and I miss him. ;)

Vermonter Nov 7th, 2002 10:28 AM

Rae, You can abandon your Vermont fantasy - it's cold , brisk, and most of the leaves are off the trees. };

My vote is for Hawaii - any island will do, but, since this IS my fantasy, I'll choose Kauai, and add a condo with a lanai facing sea, soft ocean breeze, slack key guitar music, a tall pina colada, and my guy.

junebug Nov 7th, 2002 10:39 AM

Paris or Shanghai.

RnR Nov 7th, 2002 10:41 AM

Where I planned, watching the waves crash and praying the rain eases up. I won't say where - somebody might ask why I didn't wait for summer, :>, and they'd be right! Interesting thread.

Ani Nov 7th, 2002 11:19 AM

Either York, England-having a pint and some brie at a cafe near the Minster, or wandering around Conwy castle in
North Wales. Either would do nicely right about now.

x Nov 7th, 2002 11:25 AM

a well paying, fulfilling, gonna be here in two years kind of job!

Patrick Nov 7th, 2002 11:35 AM

Let's see. At this exact moment Maggie Smith and Judy Dench must be about half way through Act I of their performance of the new David Hare play in London. God, I wish I were there!

NYCER Nov 7th, 2002 12:38 PM

Vermonter I would be skiing in Vermont heard some folks hit the slopes this week!

John Nov 7th, 2002 12:42 PM

Lech Austria, with my friend Egon, drinking Gluewein, and getting ready to ski the Arlberg! Throw in some Spaetzel for dinner! Yum! Yum!
JOHN

Cat Nov 7th, 2002 01:03 PM

Anywhere but here at work listening to crabby people on the phone.

Thanks for asking.

Pam Nov 7th, 2002 02:52 PM

Paris..absolutely. I'd love to right now take a turkish bath at the Hammans followed by a walk along the river into the Marais ending up with dinner at the Blue Homme..a berber feast!

Janda Nov 7th, 2002 03:28 PM

In Sorrento Italy sipping on some Limoncello while eating Insalata Caprese, looking out over the bay and thanking God for this blessing.....

Beth Nov 7th, 2002 03:53 PM

I wish I was back in Wailea, Maui, and it was the beginning of my trip to the Kea Lani Resort. We were going to eat dinner at Roy's Resturant. I'm spoiled forever!!!

ringo Nov 7th, 2002 06:04 PM

under the sea, in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Susan Nov 7th, 2002 06:44 PM

Mid-July towards the end of an absolutely perfect day...on the dock sipping chilled Chardonnay, finishing a mystery novel, as the sun sinks behind the hills.... all the while enjoying the yelps of our kids water skiing & tubing...life is grand...

p. Nov 7th, 2002 07:13 PM

Agree with "x" who said "Message: a well paying, fulfilling, gonna be here in two years kind of job!"
Reason ? I got laid off recently.

Moonlight Bunny Ranch

Fargo Chick Nov 8th, 2002 04:12 AM

It was 64 degrees in Fargo yesterday (11/7). I biked 23 miles in the afternoon -- and home was the perfect place. In a few weeks, though, I'd probably like to have sand between my toes........
xxx Nov 8th, 2002 04:25 AM

Sipping on limoncello WHILE eating a caprese salad???? Uuuuuhhhhhhh, how disgusting!

nina Nov 8th, 2002 04:32 AM

Agree, the limoncello would be best after dinner, sipped while sitting on a terrace overlooking the sea in Ravello but to each his own!

Actually, Capri would be wonderful, or Venice, or St Barths or.....

Wasting Nov 8th, 2002 04:35 AM

Margaritaville

Johnlw Nov 8th, 2002 04:43 AM

It is going to be 60+ degrees here this weekend. Home looks good, except for all the chores.

How about in the old Coco Palms Resort in Kauai (alas it is closed), watching the flaming coconut ceremony!

xx Nov 8th, 2002 05:11 AM

I'm content where I am, the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. From the back of the house I see the sun rise over the Massanutten Mts. In the evening I watch it set beyond the Allghenies. During the day I have enjoyment of living in a small town with a real Main Street.

Janda Nov 8th, 2002 07:06 AM

Good heavens people, give me a break.
I meant eating the insalada caprese, THEN drinking thew Limoncello afterwards. You are sure a critical bunch !!!

kal Nov 8th, 2002 07:59 AM

Anywhere but NoCal right now.
First rain since 5-21 and it's trying to make it all up in one day!

Ok...How's 'bout Venice sipping a
$8, 12oz beer watching the large cruise ships cruise in, ton o' tourists get off, pose for pics with a ton o' pigeons on them and then leave?

Walking down small Paris streets at night in a light rain and turning a corner and seeing either the Eiffel Tower or the Arch of Triumph all lit up.

Sitting on the bench in front of the Cabrillo Lighthouse in San Diego while boats, ships and planes carry on below you.

And finally, watching a Kauaian sunrise every morning from our hotel room bed.
Yep...anywhere but here right now.
Kal
