Monica- In a word... YES
Monica, I have been to Monster Park when it was lovely and I have been there when it was shivering cold.
When you are near the SF Bay (Fisherman's Wharf for example) it can get quite cold. Of course you can do what so many tourist do and buy one of the sweatshirts at one of the stands in Fisherman's Wharf. I would never spend a day in SF without some type of coverup. And I also always have one in the evenings. The advice, if you want to be sure to be comfortable, is again, layer. Yes sometime it can be a drag carrying a sweater or jacket but it sure beats suddenly being freezing cold. Well at least that is my thinking and I belive many others. |
"I would never spend a day in SF without some type of coverup." - LoveItaly, next time bring Kal for that :))
LOL Faina!!! Why didn't I think of that!! ;;)
Layers..got it!!Thanks girls!!!
Actually there's no need to bring layers. There are countless shops the tourist area (i.e. fishermans wharf) willing to sell you a fleece jacket w/ SF something written on it. They make a mint selling these jackets to tourists who arrive in sunny california wearing shorts and tank tops.
Or so I've heard. |
I'm from Palm Springs,CA weather...and seriously do not own a sweater. So I will be the tourist buying a sweater at the wharf.
imo that's a fine plan. maybe you won't need one after all. and if you do, then you'll have a nice San Francisco sweatshirt to take home as a souvenier -lol!!
Seriously tho, I do recommend you bring sweatshirt and light jacket. You WILL need long sleeves and layers at some point during your trip. Evenings/mornings have been in the low 50's lately - add fog and it can be downright cold if you are underdressed, especially if you are out on the bay or bridge. You can still buy as SF fleece jacket as a souvenier.
All good advise. Probably nice with no rain (you could still get fog and a cool breeze), but one should always be prepared in SF. Yes, layers are the way to go in SF. Because one part of the city can have different weather than another.

J62- But the woman doesn't OWN a sweater (or a sweatshirt or a jacket).
But since she isn't travelling for a few weeks I assume there is still time to buy something beforehand so she's not standing outside the gift shop freezing to death waiting for it to open.
I find that getting off the plane and out of the terminal into the open air at SFO I'm glad I have a jacket in hand. |
