My two personal favorites are:
The ever lovely SueHoff's (Nearly) Heartbreaking & Staggering Work of Genius Italy Trip Report http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34598621 & Always the gentleman, GravySandwich's Italian Trip Report http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34625063 A good read. Enjoy, Tiff |
On the European Forum, Scarlett Goes to Hell, and the thread about the Vikings Being Bad in Scandinavia, and the thread on Molvania were all hysterical.

SOunds like I missed a lot of funnies!
I look forward to reading them! But for true and hlepful TRAVEL reports, I'm enjoying Ellen Griswolds road trip report. GoTravel's review of Charleston is excellent and we are using it to plan spring break. Orcas and Beachbum have some amazing posts about the Pacific Northwest. |
"GoTravel's Excellent Camping Adventure" on US Board was a classic. A study in the human male and his camping instincts.
|
and of course, Wes Fowler's very intellegent and wonderful posts on the Europe board. I didn't start coming here til after he died, but I've gone back and read all of his posts. They are great. My favorite is his trope "A Few Words From Fowler"-- genius of a post. ALso love "Where and WHEN-- Fowler wants to know!" And his European driving itineraries are just amazing for content.
|
I second the vote for Daniel Williams ( Montreal) and for anything Neil Sanders!
GoTravels Charleston report was detailed perfectly and as in any really good trip report, made us want to go there right away! |
Can someone give me a link to the I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison post mentioned above? I missed that one and want to read it since it got a few votes.
|
I think the most funny thread is the annual What to do with the fruit cake after Christmas.
|
similar post listing favorites back in 2003...

More thoughts: djkbooks posts on Paris and Boston are chock full of good information; HowardR is never wrong about NYC and the theatre there (as is Ellen, I think?). The posts following 9/11 were amazing; there was one written by someone who visited 3 weeks later, a trip in the planning for a long time; a real tribute to NYC and New Yorkers and Americans.

I like Patricks trip reports when he stays in places for months at a time being very interesting and entertaining. (Paris/London) this summer was Ashland/Portland

I found another one!
I Was Drunk The Day My Mom Got Out Of Prison thread: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...&tid=76980 |
Poster Degas researched some walks for himself on the Europe board that are loaded with good info. Here are a few
Bloomsbury http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34440105 Wren Churches http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34441312 Paris Passages http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34455833 |
I remember the funny ones over the informative ones :) Of course, tipping the pilot, and vikins in September, also how do you address a nun - most likely deleted by now - is European board funnier then USA?
Here on USA the greatest one is freaky Friday rant and rave - thank you jor/jorr! Great example of our e-friendship. If I can nominate "the most ridiculous thread" it would be 'are you traveling with the bedsheets' on "other topics" And thanks to Patrick and his West Coast trip description I'm consuming enourmous amounts of salmon hash :) |
Hi Faina, Is this the 'bedsheet' thread you were thinking of?
Freak or normal? http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34490489 |
There was a thread that I recall starting with Kelly Rippa and the Cracker Barrell that I liked. Discussed chain restaurants that aren't all bad in a pinch and was quite amusing at times.
|
Here's another vote for The Mole People. Do You Travel with Bed Sheets is also entertaining.
|
Tiff, actually I mean the original thread on "other topics".
But this reminds me... about "freaks and normals"... what was that thread, somebody asked if your family thinks you're nuts if you meet Fodorites in person? |
