Put Your OCTOBER 2004 Travel Plans Here!

Ok, we have done this before...let's try it again. How this works is you share...as you wish... your OCTOBER travel plans here. If you are taking a day trip or a overnight feel free to share.

I started this October Thread on The Europe Board. Feel free to post there too if you want. I have...so if you want to see what we are doing travel wisw in October click over.

In the past this USA thread has not been as active for this kind of post and the Europe thread on this subject has been "too" active resulting in it being terminated. Let's see what happens...

Have fun!

Ok, I'll play...for the first time we are going to Big Sky, Montana. We will do Yellowstone(the parts we can)while the crowds are not there. During the week, we will also drive down to Worland, Wyoming and possibly over to Casper and/or Cody.
This October vacation is October 23rd-November 1st.

SharonNRayMc Sep 29th, 2004 12:22 PM

I'll jump in... Ray and I are off to a big family campout at Chickasaw National Recreation Area near Sulpher, OK. It's this week-end (Oct 1, 2 & 3). Can't wait to get out of the city!

We are tent camping, but Dad is bringing his RV. Anyone ever do a baked Alaska dessert in an RV oven? :)

We're leaving Saturday for a week in Maine to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, staying in Portland, Bar Harbor and my sister-in-law's cottage on Lake Damariscotta. We've come a long way from our two-day honeymoon, when we wanted to go to NYC but couldn't afford it. We stayed at a Howard Johnson's in Secaucus NJ and took the bus into Manhattan!

ElendilPickle Sep 29th, 2004 01:43 PM

It looks like we're taking a really quick trip to San Antonio in mid-October when my daughter's suitor graduates from Air Force basic training.

No plans for October, yet.
Might go to Toronto on the 23rd, though, to see a horse race on the 24th.

Fodorite018 Sep 29th, 2004 03:09 PM

Oh Faina...that just is not fair, lol! We had a log home in upstate NY and the fall was absolutely amazing! After the leaves fell, we had huge leaf piles that our entire family would jump in:) Here about all I could do is jump in a puddle, lol!

tpatricco Sep 29th, 2004 03:09 PM

Just one short trip with some cousins! Hope it's fun! We're going on Oct. 9-10 to Jim Thorpe , PA. to ride their steam-train, see the foliage and then spend the night in one of the cousin's home in the Poconos.

dwooddon Sep 29th, 2004 04:04 PM

My first long trip since retirement and a retirement gift from my company, no less. I'll be traveling about 40 days with most of it taken up by a AMTRAK-ViaRail tour from SLC to Sacramento to Seattle to Vancouver to Jasper to Prince George to Prince Rupert and back again. Leaving October 14th.

jewelhawg Sep 29th, 2004 04:26 PM

Most of you probably already know because you've helped me plan it to the exact detail for the last 6 months. I'm taking my mom, 2 aunts, WWII Veteran uncle and cousin to a weekend in D.C. and two weeks of leaf peeping down Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains.

Counting down the final 15 days!

marykc Sep 29th, 2004 04:51 PM

WE will be going to Las vegas in mid October for our 25th wedding anniversary. We will be staying at the Bellagio and we have tickets for Elton John.
Have fun everyone on all October get-aways

calgirl Sep 29th, 2004 04:56 PM

My husband and I leave Sunday for 5 days on Oahu. Followed by 1 week in Maui. (Sans kids!!) We are staying at the Ihilani on Oahu and our Marriott timeshare in Kaanapali. I can hardly wait for Sunday to get here!!!

vcl Sep 29th, 2004 04:57 PM

October must be escape month. We are headed for four days in Las Vegas -- our first trip there in about six years. We have friends heading for Bangkok and Ireland and family journeying to Disneyworld and Hawaii. That's not even talking about the cousin who rented out her house and is spending the year traveling the country in an RV.
Enjoy all your trips.

poochie Sep 29th, 2004 05:15 PM

My travel plans for October are...(because I'm SO EXCITED!!!..) to stare at the calender until December...when I go to Paris.

utahtea Sep 29th, 2004 08:01 PM

To Traveling Mom,

What do you want to know about Yosemite? We've gone on the average of once a year since 1977, sometimes we skip a year and sometimes we go more than once. We do avoid the summer because of the crowds.

Mid October 2 weeks in Southern California.

mikemo Sep 30th, 2004 02:57 AM

Claro!
Just returned from my house in San Miguel de Allende, MX after 6 weeks of wonderful time and imersion in the history, culture and language.
Spent most of Jan in the USVI and BVI - disappointing ex: the diving!!
May in San Diego and "Baja" was not great. After 2 weeks in San Miguel in June, had to go to the VERY EXPENSIVE UK for younger son's marvelous wedding @ Hambleton Hall and had a great time in NW Portugal and Galicia after same -all Portuguese speak English, but no Spanish and the Celtic/Castilian dialect of Galicia is mostly incomprehensible to a MX Spanish speaker.
October will be spent intermittently in Horseshoe Bay, TX and (unfortunately) Dallas getting my house ready for sale.
I'll also be back and forth to SMdA, MX dealing with a new construction there.
Planning to finally get to Sicily in December - great 1st retirement year!

Going to Lancaster, PA for 3 days conference in mid/late October which will undoubtedly include a trip to the outlet stores ;)

Had to turn down a trip to St. Paul, MN the last week of October b/c of the above conference....would have meant too many days out of the office in a row :(
Hopefully that offer will come back around soon!

tommyd Sep 30th, 2004 04:36 AM
