October should be lovely. Weather will be in mid 80s and little rain. How old is your party and what do you like to do. For starteres there is plenty of golf, tennis, public beaches, a little zoo/wild life park in the heart of Naples. You can visit the Corkscrew sanctuary and maybe see a gato or snake. There is a section called old Naples which has some shops and restaurants. but it isn't much and 5th ave which is about 2/3 of a mile long with shops and restaurants Tin city is a indoor shopping tourist trap worth seeing once. There are also boat cruises. You can make a 1/2 day trip to sanabel and Captiva. There is a nature preserve there where you see birds and maybe (but probably not) a gator. My two vacation like restaurants are Tommy Bahamma outdoor dining and a crab house across from Tin City. GFiner dining is found on 5th avenue. There is also Marco Island. There is nothing there except for an area off the beaten path called Goddard (spelling may be incorrect) where there are a few honky tonk type barbeque like restaurants. Actually, Naples is a quiet but pleasnat area but definitely not exciting. You should enjoy it.

My parents have a condo in Naples but they live in the midwest. My husband and I are also thinking about going in October. I think the weather in October is perfect and it is a great place to go for free. There is not a lot of excitement but it is great for R&R. There are alot of good restaurants and great shopping. I really like Tommy Bahamas, Pazzo, Campiello's. I also like The Dock which is a casual seafood place right on the water. Sanibel is nice to go to and rent bikes. There are alot of cute little shops there. I do like Marco Island. We go to Tigertail Beach there. We also like the Snook Inn. It is another very casual place on the water but they usually have live music. We like to go to kayaking. There is a place on the way to Marco where you can do that. Can't remember the name right now. Maybe it is at the Sanctuary the above poster is talking about. There isn't alot of nightlife. However, if it hasn't changed there is a bar at the Registry resort that is popular to go on Thursday nights and the Naples Beach Resort used to have something on Sunday afternoons where you just hang out outside and listen to island music. I don't think you will be disappointed. However, we usually only like to go for about 4 or 5 days or we start getting bored.

Thanks for your suggestions! I usually like a little more excitement on my vacations, and can get bored easily. However a free house is a free house!
