Ah explains lots.

Savannah beat Charleston in a head to head!?

Hasn't it been trying to do that since the days of Cornwallis?

I just voted for Savannah in Jim William's memory. Never liked Asheville after seeing the price of gooseberry jam on the Biltmore Estate.

Garden and Gun :

Good god!

Someone entered our dog in the "Good Dog" competition.

Compare and contrast, my mutt is on my profile, compare with mutt number 17 of the competition. .

Sorry my mistake, number 17 looks like it has been brushed in the last 5 years.

Pretty dog. Is it a Brittney?

Here's my favorite hunting dog story from G&G. It's written by Tom Brokaw -

Franklin beating Florence means there is still justice in this world. (No offense meant, Alabamians.)

Savannah beat Charleston in a head to head!?

My reaction as well, but at least starrs is happy. ;)

I'm pulling for Asheville, but Savannah might take it. Franklin should beat Hot Springs pretty easily, but it's hard to see it beating either of the others!

No, it's Sophie.

They are so similar.

I'm pulling for Asheville too but I do think Savannah will win.
I'll be happy for either - but I predicted Asheville.

starrs, did you see the winner?! I'm really, really surprised.

NO!!!

I am SHOCKED!

Really, really shocked.

But congrats to Franklin and the Tennessee folks :-)

Can you imagine the promo material coming forth? As it should be. What a win!

jent103 Apr 4th, 2014 07:52 AM

It is a total win for them. The two cities are totally different animals - I think Franklin's PR machine was just more on top of it. :) Savannah is definitely more of a destination. But yes, yay them! They'll get some good and well-deserved tourism mileage out of it.

Franklin?

Tennessee?

Is that near Kansas? Outside my known universe.

I will have to buy a larger map.

jent103 Apr 4th, 2014 10:08 AM

Haha! It's somewhere between your next vacation spot and Graceland. (Though "it's close to Jack Daniels" often works well.)

One time in Venice, I had to draw a map to convince our Italian waitress that Tennessee is not, in fact, Texas.
