I'm The Biggest Loser....

I have a big fat 'L' on my forehead.

I'm drinking beer, downloading Latin music on my computer, and watching Miami Vice on the Slueth Channel. And posting non-travel messages on a travel message board.

Mr.GoTravel, who is at work, would probably agree.

Can anyone top that on a Saturday night?

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 04:22 PM

How can we top it . . . we're all doing basically the same thing. The only thing I can add is that I'm also over on the Europe board enthralled by Degas' new trip report where I continue to make outrageously flirtatious comments.

I just can't help myself!

AustinTraveler Jun 17th, 2006 04:27 PM

GoTravel, I'm doing the same thing as you except I'm way more sophisticated...I'm drinking wine!

I hate to say it but I'm really looking forward to the new Miami Vice movie. I LOVED that show.

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 04:30 PM

Well, kick it up a notch and join the Degas party on the Europe board. It's gonna be a great night there! :-)

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 04:31 PM

Oh, BayouGal has already spilled the beans. I'm just the tiniest bit late. Sorry!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 04:31 PM

I never saw Miami Vice when it first came out because I had just turned 18 and the drinking age was still 18 for beer and wine (I got grandfathered in the next year when it went up to 21) and Miami Vice came on TV on Friday nights and guess where I was?

I have this terrible crush on Don Johnson from that era.

Oh no. That makes me even more loserish.

caribtraveler Jun 17th, 2006 04:41 PM

LOL.
Well I'm drinking a really good Australian red. My husband is at work. My 4-year-old is being naughty.
My brother and his family who live in California are here for 3 weeks!! He went into NYC with the 2 kids. I'm stuck with my sister-in-law who just felt the need to apologize to me for cheating on my brother a decade ago. Had enough of their marriage drama.
Ugh.
Where's that bottle of wine??

Can you top that??

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 04:44 PM

Oh gracieb it is so great to see you posting here! In my eyes and a lot of people you are such a "star" if you know what I mean!!!

GoTravel, such a Loser, join the club, lol. I just noticed it is 5:30pm PDT, I am having a glass of wine and I haven't made any plans for tonight. Guess because the last week was so busy, a bunch of stress etc., it is just nice to kick back and relax. Uhm, I am playing Italian music CD's.

I think I will go join our "Starry" eye gal and look at Dega's thread on the Europe Board.

Little_Man Jun 17th, 2006 04:46 PM

lol, I'm not feeling like such a loser now!!
I'm at home having a glass of wine waiting for my husband to bring home Mexican take out 'cause it's too hot to cook! Love my husband! But he think I'm a loser too, for blogging on Fodors all the time!

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 04:49 PM

Hi caribtraveler, just saw your post. Oh lucky you, LOL. Do have an extra glass of wine, or two ;;)

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 04:53 PM

Yes, I'll join the club...I just had a virgin pina colada, lol. :D Where the heck did I put the run???

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 04:56 PM

RUM!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 04:59 PM

LOL stw, you do need the rum!

laartista Jun 17th, 2006 05:02 PM

Well I'm working on a Saturday night- that s*cks( I hear we have to be extra cautious these days). So, no alchohol but I just ordered some Chinese food.

radiofanatic Jun 17th, 2006 05:04 PM

I'm even lamer - I just finished watching my taped "Gameshow Marathon" with Ricki Lake as host and Paige Davis and Brandi something playing Card Sharks - all while drinking a frozen non-alcoholic coffee drink. Now I'm going to the euro board b/c of the recommendations for Degas' trip report - Viva la Fodor's!

cmcfong Jun 17th, 2006 05:06 PM

Corona Light, Degas thread, thinking up music for GoT and watching hockey...do I win anything?

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 05:11 PM

No, cmcfong, you are as pathetic as the rest of us!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 05:11 PM

I've switched to wine. With a side of Whine.

The upside of having Mr.GoTravel in the restaurant business is that I have an awsome wine cellar. The bad side is that I am drinking it. Alone.

Vittrad Jun 17th, 2006 05:12 PM

I'm rather lame too. I've been laying on my duff after getting a bit too excited over a certain soccer game earlier in the day and having to recover. I think I will walk up the street for some gelato, come home, have a nightcap and retire to bed early and perhaps watch some television. How is that for an exciting night in the big city ;)

cmcfong Jun 17th, 2006 05:13 PM

Ah Bayou Gal, can't think of a nicer bunch of pathetic losers with whom to pass the time.

missjanna Jun 17th, 2006 05:14 PM

I can probably top that.....

DH and I only got married about 6 weeks ago. And here it is, he's in Vegas for the weekend and I'm home alone...downloading music to my iPod, and cleaning the apartment here and there.

Now how sad is that??

PS I didn't go to Vegas with him because I'm not crazy about the place. So I told him to go and have a good time!!

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 05:18 PM

GoTravel, you're not alone! Drink up, dearie. We're all right here with you.

Great gathering of minds, huh, cmcfong?!

Welcome to married life, Missjanna! But honestly, hasn't talking about it with your girls always been the best part of a good evening, anyway?!

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 05:19 PM

Oh, heck! Had to go get a Fuzzy Navel to go along with HGTV and Degas' story!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 05:22 PM

HGTV?? Is House Hunters on again?

I've got Casino on Slueth!

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 05:24 PM

Don't most people watch HGTV on a Saturday nite? No? Okay, than I'm a Loser most Saturday nites! O-)

Where's that damn rum? :-d

gail Jun 17th, 2006 05:26 PM

My husband and I just spent quality time watching Cops together, but now he is watching cars drive in circles (Nascar) so I came upstairs.

caribtraveler Jun 17th, 2006 05:29 PM

I watch HGTV on Saturday nights! Just saw an episode of ReDesign that I had not seen before. LOVE Kenneth Brown. I always tell my husband that if we ever win the lotto, we're hiring him to do our new home. Ok, I'm a loser too.

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 05:29 PM

International House Hunters had a show on Roatan - off the coast of Honduras yesterday. Amazing homes.

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 05:31 PM

Saw that one -- nice place that Roatan, huh? Er, See this that is travel related. :D

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 05:33 PM

Hey, Kenneth Brown is from New Orleans. Wish I'd known about him BEFORE he was discovered!

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 05:33 PM

"See this that is travel related."

Well that makes no sense. Gosh you'd think I'd found the rum! :o)

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 05:36 PM

Hi Gracieb!! I need to turn on HGTV, perhaps to see if at some point they show a lovely Villa..and then try to find a channel that has a program about the stars. I always thought if I had the house I wanted in Italy I would name it StarrsVille..but guess in Italian it would be Stella Villa..anyway just a dream! Take care.

JAGIRL Jun 17th, 2006 05:36 PM

That Degas thread is a riot! :)

PushyPlushy Jun 17th, 2006 05:37 PM

You think you are bad? I just walked my wife's pot-bellied pig, Nicole, around the block and down to the Popeye's for a bucket of chicken. (The chicken is for me; Nicole is a vegetarian. My wife only eats chocolate since she went on Lexipro.) A car full of teens spotted me, laughed, and threw a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon at Nicole. This caused me to drop my Tiparillo and burn a hole in my wrinkle-resistant Jeff Gordon capris.

Plushy Schwartz

cmcfong Jun 17th, 2006 05:39 PM

Plushy wins.

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 05:40 PM

I LOVE House Hunters!

I also love Generation Renovation and Rezone or whatever.

Is this thread comforting or incredibly sad?

Everyone in my neighborhood is shooting off fireworks. They are legal here.

I think these people check into these rental houses and then go immediately to the fireworks store.

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 05:41 PM

Yup, PushyPlushy wins. :@)

JAGIRL Jun 17th, 2006 05:41 PM

I agree cmcfong,
Plushy wins hands down. :)

ezlivin Jun 17th, 2006 05:42 PM

Just for the benefit of those who may need the correct Italian phrase for "star villa", it would be "villa della stella".

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 05:44 PM

Yep, so far Plushy is the winner, but the night is still young. You never know who may saunter in.

GoTravel, I didn't realize that we live in the same neighborhood! ;-)
