PushyPlushy wins only if he doesn't throw away the Jeff Gordon man made fiber capri pants.

I am using a paper Kalik Beer coaster I stole from some bar in the Abacos. Three years ago.

NatureGirl19317 Jun 17th, 2006 05:55 PM

This is a fun thread!

My Saturday night: eating icing directly from the can-YUM! Hahah!

Vittrad Jun 17th, 2006 05:55 PM

So the ice cream place was closed because their freezer broke. I had to walk down to the liquor store and by a popsicle (I was determined by then). I think I walked almost 2 miles for a lime flavored popsicle tonight.

kopp Jun 17th, 2006 06:03 PM

This is great! Sounds like a new weekly thread has started: Fodor's version of SNL - Saturday Night Losers.

The dishes are piled high in the sink, the shirts all need ironing. Who cares. I'm a real loser tonight. LOL!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 06:06 PM

Ooh, new drink idea!

Lime flavored popsicle dipped in votka!

(How do you pass by the liquor for a popsicle? Alien thought to me....)

Vittrad Jun 17th, 2006 06:09 PM

Because I was drinking plenty earlier today during the Italy vs US and I have a well stocked bar at home, but I had no ice cream, that is what I really wanted.

However, I will have to remember that concoction, a vodka/lime popsicle sounds intriguing indeed.

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 06:15 PM

I am probably the biggest loser now! I have been making witty comments and extremely interesting narrations over at the Degas party all night. BUT while ago I was so busy waiting, that I forgot to hit the refresh button in order to see if the latest installment was there. I continued to whine for Degas to come back. I finally hit the refresh button but the comments had already pushed the latest installment up off the page, so I thought we were all still waiting. Still, I employed all my womanly wiles to beg him to come back. Finally I reread gracieb's question about whether or not my breasts were still heaving, and I knew either the alcohol had really gotten to both of us, or I had definitely missed something.

Sure enough, there right under the latest highly anticipated installment was my post begging Degas to come back before my snoring began to wake the kids.

Yep, I think I'm the biggest loser . . .who else goes from tempting femme fatale to a whining, drowsy old whino in the same evening?!

BuffaloGirl Jun 17th, 2006 06:15 PM

I took my 14 yr. old son to the movies....Nacho Libre with Jack Black. God, it was so stupid. Then we came home, I poured some wine, plopped my butt in a chair on my front porch, unbuttoned my shorts cuz they're too tight, and logged on to my laptop. My neighbor asked me to go to Niagara Falls to the casino, but I'm broke from going to the movies. So here I am. I am totally pathetic.

My hubby bartends on Sat. nights, so I must find a way to entertain myself. I live on a side street that crosses a trendy neighborhood strip that has all types of restaurants, bistros, and bars. I'm watching people walk past my house (they all park on the side streets) dressed for a night out. Sigh.

Oh, and GoT.....Don Johnson was SMOKIN' HOT back in the day. He could definitely eat crackers.....if you know what I mean!

AnnMarie_C Jun 17th, 2006 06:26 PM

Tonight it's me, the cat, one Guiness, two Corona's w/lemon (not a lime in sight), a bag of Masterpiece BBQ potato chips, the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency show and a partridge in a pear tree. How "L" is that?!?

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 06:55 PM

Ann Marie, what channel is Janice Dickinson modeling show on?

Fodorite018 Jun 17th, 2006 07:00 PM

How ironic, this talk of rum...my husband just had dessert...lime sorbet with rum added to it. To keep this travel related, he first had this in Paris and got hooked on it.

Beautiful day here in Portland. For some stupid reason, I did not tell the gardener yesterday to trim a few trees/bushes, so did it myself today. Thankfully, DH grilled dinner and I was able to relax and ease the achy back. He and DS are watching a movie that does not interest me...so that's why I'm here:)

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 07:07 PM

Okay, a little game before bedtime.

If you could do a little magic, or wiggle your nose like Samantha, and spend the next 30 minutes anywhere you wanted (instead of where you are right now), where would you be.

I think I'd be sipping a drink at a rooftop bar at my hotel in Cannes, enjoying the warm night air and reliving the days' adventures on the French Riveria.

What about you?

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 07:13 PM

BuffaloGirl, you ain't lying talking about Mr. Don Johnson in the 1980s! He just makes me melt looking at him! And why oh why didn't I hang out in The Grove in the day? I had good friends living on a 60 foot Hatteras right down from DJ's boat going to school at Miami then!

(An intersting piece of trivia about my life; I'm going to be a groomsman/person/woman in the above friend's wedding and wear a tux!!)

I just bought The Buena Vista Social Club.

gracie, I'd be in Miami in 1985 on Don Johnson's boat!

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 07:14 PM

Well obviously dear gracieb, I would be at a wonderful outdoor cafe on a beautiful piazza in Rome having a drink!

Oooops, right now..that would be 5:15 in the morning in Rome. So that wouldn't work, LOL.

Ok, I have to rethink all of this.

seetheworld Jun 17th, 2006 07:16 PM

I'd be at Heathrow, instantly. I'd give just about anything to avoid flying. :) Nite, everyone~

P_M Jun 17th, 2006 07:16 PM

What is this, an LL meeting?? (That stands for Languishing Losers) OK, I'll join this support group.

Hello, my name is P_M and I am a Loser.

<Everyone says gleefully "Hi, P_M!!">

Here's why I am a loser. DH and I have just returned from the movies, which is what we typically do on a Saturday night. Once we were home, he went into the bedroom to watch TV, while I am sitting in the living room Fodorizing. In the background I can hear my TV, as I am listening to the British comedies on PBS. The sad thing is that this same scenario repeats itself every Saturday night.

I still remember the days of going out clubbing on weekends. We drank and danced until we heard that familiar phrase, "Last call for alcohol," which happens at 2am here in TX. Then we would go to Denny's or IHOP for breakfast, getting home at 3ish. Ahhh, those were the days. <sigh>

But I can't complain, I still have a social life, but it's mostly with people I've never met in person. Of course, I'm speaking of YOU, my cyber pals!! So thanks for spending this Saturday evening in my company. :-)

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 07:16 PM

Oh, we can change the date and the time? Then that is easy. It would be the 1970's and I would be at a wonderful outdoor cafe in a beautiful piazza in Rome having a drink!!

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 07:20 PM

:-) GoT!

Get good measurements by the tux rental shop. One of my most photogenic evenings was at an event in Wash, DC where we all were to wear tuxedos - men and women alike. My local shop did a great job measuring me and my tux fit great! All the other women had varied problems with fit. Talk about a comfortable evening!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 07:21 PM

Can I extend my time to 60 minutes?

P_M Jun 17th, 2006 07:22 PM

gracieb, we must have been posting at the same time. Hmmm, I think I would spend the next 30 minutes in Paris, just walking along the Seine and taking it all in. Either that or I would pop in to visit my favorite Fodorites, some of which are on this very thread!! :-)

Fodorite018 Jun 17th, 2006 07:22 PM

What a fun idea:)

My idea is a bit odd...my back is so achy, and the hammock helped a bit today, so I have that on my mind right now. So...I would like to be laying in a hammock in Venice at the Cafe Florian listening to the dueling orchestras. It would belater in the evening and warm with no breeze. Geez that sounds heavenly right now!!!

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 07:23 PM

LoveItaly, Light in the Piazza is airing in my neck of the woods tomorrow. Here's a link that was on Fodor's earlier -

http://www.pbs.org/lflc/current.htm

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 07:26 PM

Okay, 60 minutes for you, GoT - but only because you are the founder of this new (and happy) group.

What to name it? Fodors' SNL as someone else suggested?

BuffaloGirl Jun 17th, 2006 07:28 PM

I would be with GoT on DJ's boat in 1985!!! Well, maybe I'd prefer to be on DJ's boat in 1985 WITHOUT GT...if you know what I mean. I wouldn't mind being with Andy Garcia anywhere in the world, though. Let's leave that for another thread.

Colin Farrel is playing DJ in the movie...he's cute, but not DJ cute. No way.

P_M....closing time here has always been 4:00 a.m. Yikes!

P_M Jun 17th, 2006 07:30 PM

Hi, BG. So you can drink until 4? Interesting. If my middle aged senile memory is correct, many clubs stayed open until 4, but could not serve alcohol after 2 per state law. So in order to pay the overhead from 2 to 4 they would sell soft drinks and food instead. I always thought this was a good idea, because this way people could eat something and maybe the alcohol would wear off before driving home.

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 07:37 PM

Along the lines of Kevin Bacon and 7 Degrees of Separation... my best friend from high school's son played a young Colin Farrell in "A Home at the End of the World". Won rave reviews for his part in the movie.

BayouGal Jun 17th, 2006 07:37 PM

Do we get the body we had in '85 while we're on DJ's boat??!! ;-)

gracieb Jun 17th, 2006 07:41 PM

Well, hopefully DON will have the body he had in 85!

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 07:45 PM

Oh gads, I feel guilty becasue my late dear husband was so much fun..we often went out to dinner, then drinks and dancing and then an early morning breakfast. Guess I was married to the original "party boy". He was so much fun! But I still laugh as inspite of his Stanford degree he didn't know how to do the laundry, run the dishwasher etc. Or maybe that was because he was to clever to ever learn ;;)

Anyway, I will obviously qualify for the LL Club. CinCin!!

Fodorite018 Jun 17th, 2006 07:50 PM

LoveItaly--I know we have chatted about this before, but I got a giggle out of your description of your late husband. SO many of the same characteristics as mine, lol!

GoTravel Jun 17th, 2006 07:53 PM

Saturday Night Losers works for me!

Sad, Statia gets the 'What's Your Poison' Friday night happy hour thread and I get the 'Saturday Night Loser' thread.

What am I doing wrong in this life?

I do however get loser points for obsessing about Miami Vice.

kodi Jun 17th, 2006 07:56 PM

I'll join in! But I'm only drinking diet coke. and I don't even have the TV on in the background. Even my dog is sleeping. DO I qualify?

GracieB, certainly you will have the body ! When you wiggle your nose everything will be perfect for that 30, or 60 minutes.

I personally will be somewhere in Europe...anywhere..it can be a surprise..as long as it's Europe.

LoveItaly Jun 17th, 2006 08:48 PM

Hi mms, lol, I hear you! But what can you expect from fellows that were Navy Officers, again a BIG lol.

And GoTravel, thanks for making our SNL evening so much fun!! You are a jewel.

Orcas Jun 17th, 2006 08:57 PM

At least you're not addicted to tetris....

AnnMarie_C Jun 18th, 2006 04:51 AM

Hi seetheworld, I believe it was on Oxygen. Sorry I didn't see your message sooner--I gave up after posting and went to bed.

GoT, at least your among friends!

kopp, SNL, very funny!

GoTravel Jun 18th, 2006 11:49 AM

Mr.GoTravel came home around 12:30AM to find me dancing around the computer listening to Latin music while the cats were hiding under the bed.

Such a loser am I.

:-D

jetset1 Jun 18th, 2006 12:42 PM

Okay, I'll fess up to a six week spree of watching the Real Housewives of O.C.
To me, it was less a documentary and more of a comedy. Then, they had a reunion, talk about a shock- they had stayed exactly the same, lol.
As Napoleon Dynamite would have said, Booby shirts, tennis lessons, luckeeeee!

BayouGal Jun 18th, 2006 12:50 PM

Jetset, when do you suppose they will do one of those reality shows about real women who don't possess boob jobs, mansions, etc.? You know, the ones who make their way in the frozen north of Alaska or hot, humid south of Louisiana??? ;-)

wow Jun 18th, 2006 12:53 PM

Hello, GoTravel! I wouldn't worry....now if you start hiding under the bed (w/ that vodka lime popsicle) then call me, b/c then you will need an intervention! But, for now, not to worry. Give the cats a kiss from me! My guy is here in my lap witching me type.....as usual!
Who's going to win the US Open? Can Philly get a hat trick? Wouldn't it be something if he won this & then the British in July and the PGA in August?

wow Jun 18th, 2006 01:00 PM

witching me type....pass the popsicle!
