I just checked my map. It's only about 1/2" inch on the map, and if I remember right it didn't take that long.

Definitely fly into there if you can.

Fly into Reno. From Reno you take 395 south through Carson City..once you start to get out of the main part of town you hang a right on HW 50, Spooner Summit and bingo, takes you right to Zephyr Cove. You could continue a little further to Stateline to stay. The total driving time from Reno to Stateline is probably about an hour or hour and a half...depends on traffic. What time of year are you going?
