I dont do anything. My black canvas bag is just as it came from the store. Only one like it on the carousel.
|
My old, battered Lark bag is easy to pick out in sea of black.
|
I stuck on glow stars but after two seasons they fell off, now back to ribbons!!
|
First, I have a blue suitcase. Hard to believe how many people have black. We didn't specifically pick blue for any reason, but we're glad to have it. And we have some unique luggage tags on them, almost guaranteed that nobody else will have them.
Target and Wal-Mart have pretty good travel aisles for luggage tags, etc., if you don't have any fancy specialty stores around. |
xrae, mine is blue too. I bought a monogrammed bag from LLBean and it's a lot easier to find it on the carousel. My "big" bag is a green tapestry. When I buy cheap duffles or other bags I always buy a color. This last trip I was the only one with a turquoise bag on the carousel. It was cheap from Target and bought it to carry product to a conference. Was ready to leave it behind in case it got banged up, but it handled it's heavy contents very well.
Go for a color - any color other than black! :-) |
I have a small dark green suitcase, with a Hawaiian print luggage tag.

I have never seen a suitcase like mine on the belt but I have marked other items with a favorite patch... there are THOUSANDS on eBay.
Use Gorilla glue sparingly brush a very thin coat on the patch and place it on the suitcase. You have one shot to get it where you want it, so don't mess up. Let it sit for 24 hours. It will NEVER peel or come off. Put it on the same side as the handle, in the front, whatever. I would not suggest using anything that may single your luggage out as a target on international flights... I love my khaki American flag on my khaki backpack, but I would not use it overseas. Do others agree with that? My company does not want us to have any visible 'information' on luggage when traveling internationally. I am too paranoid to use straps because they get caught on things, like loading ramps and in the cargo hold. |
It doesn't have to be big or flashy. Any little thing that YOU know to look for. A thin piece or rope, string or ribbon tied thru the handle or a specific luggage tag that you can spot.
|
I send my dog... ;)
[Actually, I don't even have a dog.] |
Good grief- if you buy something other than a basic black bag with wheels, it will stand out on the luggage carousel. I have great luggage from a reputable national company in bright green pattern - unmistakeable. I pity those of you with black bags.
|
I bought a bright red set of luggage and its unreal how easy it is to spot. I also put a sturdy unique luggage tag just in case. I cannot believe how many people have black luggage that gets lost in a sea of black bags on the carousel. You can spot a red bag a mile away.
|
I printed a photo of my two grandchildren with the words <b>"If You're Not My Grandma, Don't Even Think of Taking This Luggage"</b> on the other side and laminated the two into a large tag to attach to the handle.
|
We have bright orange halloween fabric ribbon with black cats on it tied on our handles. All our luggage have the same fabric ribbon, it really makes it easy for us to spot our luggage.
|
I confess, we are among the millions of travelers with all black luggage - all four in our family - but never have trouble spotting ours on the belt -we each have a colorful round luggage tag and some ribbon - we can spot ours the second it comes within view on the belt
|
I have all black suitcases and good eyesight. No unusual markings, just a basic luggage tag. I don't see what the big deal is, and I pity all the tatty tape and stickers I see on the carousel. I like the idea of the permanently glued on patch as a more tasteful alternative.
|
The last time I used my black luggage, I attached a big bright colored luggage tag to it.
When I waited at the carousel waiting, my luggage tag never showed up. It had broken or fallen off at some point during the trip. I ended up having to search through the sea. Now I have tapestry luggage and it's so easy. Even if there is another tapestry bag on the carousel, it will be in a different color scheme or pattern. No problem anymore. |
I use two different colors of gift wrapping ribbon on my bag and flair them like a package. I spot my bag easily every time.
I do a similar thing with my hubby and my son's bag, but I use one simple color for their bags. |
yellow flyertalk.com luggage tag...
|
i mark my luggage by affixing a large map of the united states on it and taking a permanent marker to mark my destination.
that way, when the clerk at the airline ticketing desk asks me where i want to fly to, i simply hold up my suitcase and point to the map and say "right there!, right friggin there!" |
me too, fishee!
Those big ole' FT tags really stand out. |
