sf7307 - you forgot to mention the sangria cart at Josselin's. It was my favorite!

troutmanJ - Did you see the Hawaii Revealed overview of Kahala?

I think you've taken the Ritz @ Kapalua off your list? It is a gorgeous property, and service is always stellar at a Ritz. I am not sure how close the rooms are to the beach.

We stayed at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island, and agree it is very nice for a honeymoon. There's a white sand beach, and also an excellent snorkeling cove. We walked next door to the Orchid, too. It struck me as a place for 'older people'-- more sedate and formal. I could be wrong, and that was several years ago, too. It has a great beach, and you can easily walk to the snorkel cove @ the Mauna Lani.

One of those two hotels has beautiful bungalows, but I forget which property they were on.

IMO, you will want a car on whichever island because there is so much to see. Or maybe you could rent a car by the day, right at the hotel. I think I would make sure that's an available service, when you choose your place.

The Hilton Waikaloa is a family place, for the most part. I'd avoid it for a honeymoon. I'm not clear on whether it's called the HHV now.

Have fun planning. Ten days on Hawaii is a great honeymoon idea.

Hilton Hawaiian Village is in Waikiki. I don't believe the Hilton Waikoloa Village was ever under consideration and agree I would avoid it for a honeymoon.
