Good info about several ways to get discounts on car rentals is on this web page:
www.mauihawaii.org/carrental.htm |
Using costco discount & coupons from their travel magazine is usually a good deal. Especially for Alamo, keep an eye on the rates using Orbitz, then when it's about it's lowest, go directly to the car rental website and book with the costco coupon, it usually includes an extra driver at no additional cost and it does NOT have to be a spouse.
Last week we got an intermediate for a week rental in Maui for $119 inc. taxes. |
Greetings!
I've been looking to book a car for Oahu and the BI for October. I got an Avis car for Oahu via USAA: Your Base Rate for a 3 day(s) 18 hour(s) rental is: 68.00 USD Surcharge : 21.78 USD • $3.00 per day (Hawaii State Surcharge) • (up to) $0.50 per day (Vehicle License Fee) • 11.11% (Concessionaire Fee) Tax: 3.24 USD ( 4.166%) Approximate Total: 93.02 USD Compact (4 Door) Chevrolet Cobalt or similar This comes to about $17/day. Do you think this is a good price? Or should I try priceline? Thanks! Monica |
We booked 4 days on Oahu with Avis USAA for $79.00.
I started booking 3 months out, and their price was $122. Once a week I would log on, and it seemed the price would drop, so I cancelled one and booked the new price. I think it was 2 weeks before my trip when I finally got the $79 price. Same thing for a week on Kauai. Started at $156, and finally paid $117. It's a supply and demand thing, I believe. ((b)) |
Thanks Budman.
Did you do this on the USAA sight or Avis? Monica ((F)) |
Thru the USAA site. ((b))
