Agree with Mother Nature, the Great Lakes levels have been falling every year costing the surrounding states millions of dollars in lost revenues not only in tourism & fishing, but many communities depend on the lakes for their water supply. The lakes are so low in places the intake valves can't suck up enough water. I hope we get snow soon...

Yes mother nature, I'm sure we are all aware of global warming, but since the government hasn't asked for my assistance on the effects of global warming on ecology and measures to prevent it, there's not a hell of a lot I can do about it. So rather than fret, I'll go put on my shorts and go for a romp! <BR><BR>While I'm doing that, maybe you could enlighten us all on what we can do to prevent global warming, and while you're at it, inform our government. I'm pretty sure they would appreciate your help since they are pretty stumped for a solution.

Stumped for a solution? I don't think so. Stupid, maybe. And venal, almost most certainly. And what can we...you....I...do? You can write to your congresspersons to indicate that you think this is a problem of enormous import/challenge. You can support organizations that are taking the lead.<BR>You can think about the world your grandchildren are going to inherit...and work to make it something worthwhile. The alarms have been sounded for years now...and the powers that be pooh-pooh it, and most of the rest of us just plod along thinking, "well, if this were really a problem...*'they'd'* be doing something about it." Well, it IS really a problem...and we need look no farther than out the front window in January for the proof.

How do we know this same "warming" didn't occur over 100 years ago for several winters in a row? Weather records only go back about that far. In the midwest in the mid to late 1970's, we had bitterly cold winters. Was that the sign of a new ice age? I agree that there are far too many pollutants in the air however, so many of us want to jump on the "global warming" bandwagon. I want to hear from meterologists and scientists. Also, Spring, there's not much money in solar energy, that's why the gov. won't step in.

It is just a "January" thaw, and by the weekend we will all be back to winter for at least 2 more months...just a happy couple of days to remind us of the pleasures of spring/summer.

All true, but as a life long New Englander, I recall the January thaw being temps in the 40's after being in the 20's, not temps being in the 60's after being in the mid 40's!<BR><BR>Mother Nature, you better get busy. You obviously are very concerned about the environment so you best not waste any more time here with the rest of us slackers!

Has not been cancelled here in Utah. Got on average 3 feet of new snow at the resorts yesterday.

Here in Georgia, it is supposed to be 73 Today. We will have a Cold snap the end of the week 50's.<BR>Acutally except for a few days, Winter has been cancelled here for 5 or more years.

Hey, look at the bright side. Global warming means that all of us up in the Northeast won't have to retire to Florida. Florida will come to us! As an extra bonus, in another 20-25 years the polar ice caps may have melted enough to where your home in the suburbs today may be beachfront property by then.

Change of pace for Southern California residents. Snow today at Malibu Beach! Of course for us, it's a fun occurence that only happens every few decades.

Most parts of California are experiencing a highly unusual cold snap.<BR>Yesterday, Tuesday-1/29 saw a dusting of snow in parts of the Central Valley including Sacramento. Even San Francisco got a bit - TV weather reporters are going crazy and having so much fun providing details.<BR>In the small Sierra foothill town in which I live (2700 feet), it's been in the low 20's for the past few nights. Snowed here late Monday night, off and on throughout Tuesday, maybe a couple of inches total.<BR>Lake Tahoe expected to get down to -5° Tuesday night; Truckee at -7° with highs of about 25° on Wednesday.<BR><BR>Think I'll fly out to CT for some warmth.........<BR>

Well, it's BACK where I live today! And with a vengeance (sp?) We have a thick layer of ice over everything, schools are cancelled and snow is predicted for later today & tomorrow. Just when we had almost given up on winter's furry....

I know Steph! Just got a call that the ski-trip I chaperone on Thursday nights is canceled because of the impending storm! Last week it was canceled because it was too warm, no snow, this week it's canceled because of a snowstorm! Will we ever get to ski? Oh well, there's New England weather for you!
