Hi Arnie!

Saysa Jul 19th, 2002 10:01 AM

arnie!! i am sorry people are discourteous to your situation. I hope you will come back soon to finish your story, despite all others.

I came upon this site accidentally while trying to find a place to vacation for a few days. Its incredible to see the small community that's grown here. It would probably make a great television series. This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Thanks all for the entertainment.

zzz Jul 25th, 2002 04:40 AM

Well?

response Jul 26th, 2002 05:47 PM

Dear Arnie,

Thank you for finally posting, although what you finally posted after all this time had nothing to do with the story! I am a heartfelt person, and I'm sorry for what you've gone through but please finish the story or at least end it with an honest answer meaning that you can't finish it! This is ridiculous...and I'm ashamed that I am even responding...

Susan Jul 28th, 2002 06:40 PM

I haven't checked this site in about 1.5 months, and why am I NOT surprised that Arnie hasn't finished yet...

We're getting bored now, and you ARE losing your fans!!

Will Taylor Jul 29th, 2002 09:57 AM

Hello.

My name is Will Taylor. I live in Perry Park, Colorado and have known Arnie and his wife for about eight years.

Recently, Arnie's wife Anee informed me that Arnie had been frequenting this web site and relaying a story based on a place they once stayed. She told me that she had been intending to visit this site but didn't currently have the heart. She asked if I would be so kind as to do it for her.

There is no easy way to say this but Arnie died of a massive heart attack on July 8th of this year. I know it would have meant a lot to him to know that many of you still came here in the hopes that his story would be finished. Unfortunately, that is not possible now.

Arnie was no spring chicken. He lived a good and full life and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He served in a war, raised a family and was wealthy in the only currency that really matters: friends.

Anee has expressed a desire to come here and make a statement of her own and I'm sure that, in time, she will.
Because Arnie passed before getting his office back together, Anee still doesn't have computer access; however, we (Anee's and Arnie's friends) are going to help remedy that situation in the very near future.

Thank you to all who helped to make Arnie's final months worthwhile.

Will Taylor
I am very sorry to hear of Arnie's passing. If Will or Anee, in time come back on the sight, Please tell us where the information came from, so we can hear the end, or check out the book. Arnie said his wife read up on the this and he got the story from her notes. Either way it was a great story...God Bless you and your family.

Arnie's death was a brilliant end to the story. Kudos for one of the best threads ever.

sick....

yeahright Jul 30th, 2002 08:08 PM

Do you really think that if he had passed away his family would even be concerned about us? Please...

mari Jul 30th, 2002 08:23 PM

just found you guys on this astounding thread tonight. didn't follow arnie's novella; however, i was thoroughly engrossed in following your emotionally gripping bouts of the waiting game which imho you all played with beau brummel class and style. now, if arnie did indeed actually die, I would like to believe he will now go on to haunt the fodors site. may i also use this post as a testimonial from all of us to arnie for sharing his time and creativity through his sequential novella which was substantiated by all your eager posts. here's to all of us livin' it up and to arnie restin' in peace.

hmmm Jul 31st, 2002 06:37 AM

I emailed a library in Maine to see if they had ever heard of this story...here was the reply.
I could find no reference to a book entitled "Unholy evil..." by A. Norman.
I searched local and world-wide catalogs to no avail. It is unclear to me
whether this book is a work of fiction or not. I was unable to find any
information on Cyrus Aeckney, the Aeckney Inn, or Van der Hout. I was
unable to locate Hadleyburg on a map of Maine. I'm not sure what else we
can do to help you locate this 'story'.

Johnlw Jul 31st, 2002 08:39 AM

I first was going to recount a recent stay in a haunted bed and breakfast, until I started following the thread.

All I can say is amazing, I can tell nothing to follow this story and story within the story.

Arnie, I hope you become the ghost in the machine. Vaya con Dios.

Boo! Jul 31st, 2002 08:49 AM

nn: I've got to agree with you - Arnie, this is THE BEST post Fodors has ever seen!!!!!!!!!! Kudos to you, friend.

zzzzz Jul 31st, 2002 06:19 PM

This post was good while the story was going but it just plain sucks now. What a waste of time reading installments of this story every few weeks without an ending. This is a load of BS about Arnie...
