ghost of Xmas past Jun 12th, 2002 08:40 AM

I don't have the patience right now to read thru Arnie's ghost story; in meantime, has anyone actually stayed at the Lizzie Borden place in Fall River, MA? How ghoulish can you get !!! Now I expect to see the former OJ Simpson estate in Brentwood turned into a B&B --- ugh!

hey! Jun 12th, 2002 05:46 PM

Arnie,
I think it is very rude that you started something and never finished...I hate to admit it but I was hooked on this posting. I just happened to stumble upon it one day while I was researching something totally different, and I was glued..and now you have left me (and I think many others) waiting for an ending. I am one of those 'suckers' who did the google searches and such, to find out more about this 'haunting' story who came up with nothing. (I realize there may be no such thing, but it is still a good story). I am very disappointed (even though it may be false) that you couldn't finish it. I'm sorry but I had to be honest and I had to get my response out there...

hey! Jun 12th, 2002 05:49 PM

......and another thing....this posting would have been even MORE interesting if it was kept to the original posting from Shelley.....

xxx Jun 13th, 2002 03:58 PM

And another thing Arnie - you are a liar! Monday has come and gone with nary a word from you. On principal I am through with this thread. You are just plain MEAN!

topping for arnie
Arnie Jun 14th, 2002 12:56 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I assure you I had every intention of finishing this story last Monday. Unfortunately (at least for the next while) for Anee and myself, we happen to live in an area called Roxborough Park, Colorado.

If that name rings a bell, that's because this is a small valley on the northeastern edge of what has become the largest fire in Colorado history: the Hayman Fire. For those of you who follow the news (or don't) this fire has currrently burned 100,000 acres and is still only 0% - 5% contained.

We have been on evacuation alert since Monday morning and this is the first time I have been able to leave our house since then. The ONLY reason I left today was to bring a truck load of our personal belongings up to where I work for protection. We have have spent the last four days with no sleep and no time to do anything except prepare our home for what we both hope never happens.

Once again I find myself in the position of apologizing to all of you for making a promise I was unable to keep. I will finish the story as soon as I am back to work, however, that won't be before we get the all clear: hopefully, early next week.

Thanks to those who have still hung on; I realize this has gone on for far too long and I will put an end to it as soon as I can.

P.S. The y say it may take up to 90 days to eztiguish this fire!

Arnie

Good luck Arnie!!

bennie Jun 14th, 2002 01:11 PM

Don't apologize - just be safe! You and the Denver community are in our thoughts and prayers.

Lenleigh Jun 17th, 2002 09:49 PM

UGH Arnie - I sympathize with you on the fire issue but you just HAD to throw that "90 days" in there! Seeing as I live very near to you I was wondering if I could come camp out on your lawn for story time so we can gets this thing over with!!! Does your job have anything to do with writing/publishing?

Tom Jun 18th, 2002 01:42 PM

LenLeigh:

I, too live in Colorado not far from the Hayman Fire (South Littleton). I think what arnie was referring too is the fact that it may take 90 days to put out the fire (not contain it). All I know is that if he lives in Rox Park they have been on evacuation alert for over a week now--not a fun way to live. Hopefully we will get the rest of the story soon.

Lenleigh Jun 18th, 2002 11:32 PM

Tom:

Uh yeah, I realized that but thanks for the clarification. Although my home is not in any danger, I am close to the areas that are in danger. I don't think Arnie has anything to worry about anyways with where he is. His area is in Possible Evacuations and it is more than 10 miles from the fire. I mearly meant to point out that he has dragged this out for sooooo long and I don't look forward to reading this thread in August.

Tom Jun 19th, 2002 11:23 AM

LenLeigh,

I agree--want this to end soon. Just heard updates on the fire, though. Perry Park evacuated last night, 7-12% containment lost, winds blowing north by northeast at up to 50 mph. Rox Park and Village now preparing to evacuate (once again). Fire hsa now consumed 130,000 acres and has moved to within 61/2 to 7 miles of Roxborough area. My heart goes out to all those people.

Tom

Lenleigh Jun 21st, 2002 12:47 AM

Arnie - You are off the Evac List now, will you resume telling the story?
