Gasoline Prices
I can't believe how much gasoline has gone up in the last two weeks. And furthermore, how different it is in different parts of the SF Bay Area.

Without getting into the politics of it, what are gas prices where you live?
$1.75--In Minneapolis/St. Paul
We live in Philadelphia. The prices are rising about 11 cents a week and the war hasn't even begun.
Regular $1.59
Plus $1.69
Super $1.79
In Naples, Florida $1.89 for high test, which I need.

They say the problem is that they failed to do an oil check. It seems that all the oil supplies for the states were in Alaska, Texas, and Louisiana, but all the dipsticks were in Washington.
I paid $1.99(!)/gallon yesterday in the East Bay of SF. That was for regular unleaded.
$1.79 for high test which is also what I have to put in my car.
I paid $2.02 for premium gas in Palo Alto at a Union 76 station last weekend. That day, I noticed the price for the same gas at a San Francisco Union 76 was $2.16. The Union 76 in South San Jose where I work is always about $.05 to $.07 cheaper.
I paid $1.99 for 89 octane at a Shell station in San Jose on Monday.
I paid $1.54 a gallon in Ohio yesterday. Today it's $1.79.
$1.59 to $1.89 in Austin Texas.
Patrick, that cracked me up!
Yesterday $1.619 in Durham NC. I think it was $1.599 on Monday. The discount Kroger gas price was $1.559 yesterday, but has been going up a penny a day this week.
How do you pay for that .009 ?
Think that is bad - come and live in the UK - you will pay about £3.80 a gallon - close to $6 a gallon!!
$1.59 in Nashua, NH
Yesterday going into town was 1.58 for unleaded, got closer to town was 1.75. Turned around quickly and filled up. Coming home later it had gone up to 1.75. This is Muncie, IN
I paid $1.73 for regular at COSTCO for God's sake in San Diego yesterday.
GoTravel, the price of gas in NC has always been posted with 3 numbers after the decimal point. the third number is always a 9 in very small type, almost looks like the price is to the ninth power.

At the pump, it will show the price of gas to the third decimal point, but the cost to the buyer with two numbers after the decimal points.

I don't know if 9/10ths of a cent really matters much in the price of gasoline.
$1.65 or so for regular unleaded outside of Boston - but that was a couple days ago, so it's likely more now.

Our gas pricing has always included the 9/10ths of a cent as well.
About $1.42 last week here in southeast Iowa; now it's $1.58 (for the moment anyway). Headed to Hawaii next week for vacation - can't wait to see what the price will be there to fill the rental car....
1.699 1.799 and 1.899 in Connecticut
Highest gas tax this side of Mass.
1.73 / 1.83 / 1.93 in Milwaukee. Fortunately I drive a compressed natural gas vehicle and I pay 95 cents for gasoline-gallon-equivalent and it almost never changes. Sweet deal! My bill is about $35/month. Only problem is I can't use it for travel, only has a range of about 180 miles. Great for commuting though and the emmissions are extremely small.
San Diego, CA - $1.72, 1.82, 1.92 near my house; $1.89, 1.99, 2.09 nr the freeway

$1.54 in Noothwest Indiana.
.98 a gallon this time last year.
I think gas in the U.S. is too cheap. It should be $1/gallon more. Then only people who need SUV will drive them. However, the only reason (not the SUV reason) why gas should be more expensive is because U.S. roads are in poor condition. Any increase in fuel taxes should go directly and only for road repair.

In reality, extra money from gas taxes would go to everything except road repair. Therefore, it might not be such a good idea.

Those that have driven on the German autobahn know what a joy a smooth road can be.
$1.65 in Orlando. Add 20 cents per gallon in the tourist areas.
Hiroshi, I think you need to get out and drive more. I've driven many interstate highways all over the US and most (not all) are really in great condition, and very smooth. By the same token we were on a stretch of German autobahn that was very rough, like driving over seams in the road every 20 feet or so. Making generalizations is simply not a good idea. Depends on where you drive.
Paid $1.49 today in New Orleans.
Patrick - I don't know - I thought your first generalization was hitting the nail right on the head (or was it the Bush).....

Have you all noticed that our gas prices are escalating as quickly as our war plans?

Gas in the DC area is running $1.69 (reg) to $1.89 (premium)
Hi Grasshopper, The price of gas makes me so angry because it's all related to this ridiculous war our president is trying to start. It is only going to get worse if we really do go to war too. Respectfully, Leslie
AAA came out with a statement over the last few days saying that they believe the oil companies are upping prices to take advantage of the Iraq situation. According to AAA, they have not seen any decrease in available supplies that, in their view, would warrant the price run-up.
I'll stand by my explanation of the problem as I stated in my post way up above.
Whaaaa! I just paid $2.119 for premium at my CHEAP gas station! And they were just about to change the numbers on the sign (I doubt if it was going down)
In the Ft Lauderdale/Boca Raton area, the cheapest place I can find regular gas is $1.69. Less than 3 weeks ago I paid $1.51 at the same station. I've seen regular as high as $1.89 in my neighborhood.....yikes!
1.67 for regular which is what I CAN put in my car in the DC area. Near my job, there's a Citgo selling for $1.46 for regular.
I just paid $1.45 in Atlanta. We are lucky I guess, gas tends to be less here than the rest of the country typically.
Maybe we should all sacrifice a little and give up these gas guzzlers that people drive to the mall, not offroading or used even for work? Do people really need to drive these huge modes of transport? Go ahead and blast me , I think its selfish, and every time I fill up my economy sized car, I feel a little bit better. $1.58 a gallon here
I paid 1.49 today in North GA.
$2.25 for premium in Aspen last week.
$1.79 in my part of New Jersey.

Patrick, I love you buddy. You crack me up. I don't love war, though. And I particularly don't love since it seems to be about oil.

Peace.
