Barbara Feb 22nd, 2003 08:32 AM

Yesterday in my neighborhood in N.San Diego, gas was $1.96 for 89 octane. ONE WEEK ago, when I last filled my tank, it was $1.81.

Tess_Durberville Feb 22nd, 2003 09:58 AM

$1.59 for regular unleaded in Dallas.<BR>

cnmiranda Feb 22nd, 2003 10:04 AM

$1.98 for premium in Las Vegas. It cost $40 to fill my gas tank. Usually around $34 or so. Yikes.

Betsy Feb 22nd, 2003 03:36 PM

$1.88/1.98/2.08 at Arco (usually the least expensive) in the South Bay area, Grasshopper. Glad I'm not driving an SUV or Hummer.

kolohegirl Feb 22nd, 2003 07:02 PM

$1.12 for unleaded regular at Shell.<BR>$1.14 for unleaded regular at Tesoro.<BR>Both on Maui, Hawaii.

kolohegirl Feb 22nd, 2003 07:03 PM

Oops! Should have read $2.12 at Shell and $2.14 at Tesoro...........Maui, Hawaii. LOL........$1.12! I WISH!

TxTravelPro Feb 23rd, 2003 06:32 AM

1.50 in Sachse, Tx.<BR>I don't drive and SUV but I always find it curious that people driving 8 cylinder high performance vehicles will bash SUV drivers even though many have 6 cylinders and get better mileage than big sedans and high performance cars.<BR>Impalas, Cadillac's even Crowne Victorias get awful gas mileage.<BR>Also, I have heard that problems in Brazil (or is it Argentina?) contributed to the rapid increase of gas prices here.

Wendy Feb 24th, 2003 08:55 AM

$2.05 for premium in Seattle yesterday. To top that off we got a darn speeding ticket. Cost to drive to go skiing- $103 :(<BR><BR>Wendy

seniormsuedu Feb 24th, 2003 11:24 AM

gas here is 1.69 today. you can't tell me this is not profiteering by the oil companies, just like 9/11. we will feel it all over the economy, no matter what car we drive. the poor tourist trade was hurting last year and now will suffer more.

Larry1 Feb 24th, 2003 11:26 AM

Well, this goes out to all those conspiracy theorists who see a war-mongering republican behind every tree. Plug in &quot;gas prices&quot; into the board search engine and look how often this topic has come up since 2000. And yet we weren't always poised to invade some oil-producing nation. As a matter of fact, sometimes these high gas prices occured when ole' Bill was running the show. So maybe, just maybe, you people who want to blame the administration for everything including rainy days should realize just perhaps gas prices are not being manipulated to justify a war.<BR> By the way, I drive a 3-cylinder Chevy Metro. I don't even bother looking at the cost on the pump, it's going to cost me $10-$12 a fill up no matter what the price is.

wendy_wetson Feb 24th, 2003 11:42 AM

andyc makes a good point because the fact of the matter is that we (US) pay the least amount of money per gallon for gasoline than in the majority of countries around the world. Another point is that we are now paying for gasoline that was bought at much lower prices 6 months ago. Anyway, I'm in Bergen County, New Jersey and I've been paying $1.63.

Grasshopper Feb 24th, 2003 11:49 AM

OK, today I paid $2.259 and I DIDN'T have the pleasure of being in Aspen! For the record, I noticed that in Keystone, Colorado it was closer to $1.80. Must be the high rent district.<BR><BR>

cnmiranda Mar 6th, 2003 03:45 PM

In Las Vegas gas is now up to $1.95 regular and $2.15 premium. Up 17 cents per gallon in less than two weeks!

Alice Mar 6th, 2003 03:48 PM

Just paid $1.96 at Costco for regular. City average is more like $2.07 ish. Crazy!

Smokyboy Mar 6th, 2003 04:02 PM

I travel from Atlanta to western NC about every weekend and in Clayton, Ga., a small mountain town in northeast GA. the price is $1.39, $1.49, &amp; $1.59. Go figure that!!

Quinty Mar 6th, 2003 05:12 PM

<BR>$2.29 for the cheap stuff near LAX today.<BR><BR>Robbery!!

EmilySD Mar 7th, 2003 09:49 AM

I filled up yesterday in San Diego $2.09, 2.19, 2.29<BR>Last year the average was $1.36 !!<BR><BR>Have a good weekend!

beachbum Mar 7th, 2003 10:36 AM

$2.02, $2.12 and $2.21 yesterday where I buy gas in Portland, OR. Heard on the news about a small town in California where regular unleaded is going for $3.29......yikes.

blpar Mar 7th, 2003 10:48 AM

$1.59 in northern Minnesota this morning. Maybe it's just too cold to change the sign.

voyager42001 Mar 7th, 2003 11:10 AM

Rocklin, CA (Sacramento suburb)...$2.07 regular, $2.17 mid-grade, $2.27 high-grade. We are seriously rethinking our So.Cal/Las Vegas road trip this summer. We figure that it would run us about $300 in gas for the entire trip. Granted, we could fly (only one destination), but with 5 airfares and the cost of renting a car -- it's still cheaper to drive.<BR>Anyone else changing their plans??

Cali Mar 7th, 2003 11:17 AM

I saw a Union 76 station today here in S. CA that had $2.16 for regular, $2.26 for middle grade and $2.36 for premium and there were people there buying. Can't believe it as there are other less expensive places in the area.

dilbert Mar 7th, 2003 11:20 AM

Mahwah, NJ 1.53 regular<BR>Warwick, NY 1.76 regular<BR><BR>NJ has the cheapest gas in the US.<BR><BR>Every NY resident on the border will drive there for cheap gas. I drive through NJ to get home and you batcha dupa I fill up there.

Smokyboy Aug 1st, 2007 10:37 AM

I would LOVE for gas to be these prices again. I think its time Bush taps into the petroleum reserve. He says its there for emergencies. I think this should be considered an emergency. My family can't go on fun, road trips anymore.

GeorgeW Aug 1st, 2007 10:45 AM

I think it would be nice if President Bush would normalize relations with Iran, stop antagonizing that twerp down in Venezuela, leaned on the Saudis and the Kuwaitis to pump more(they owe us from 1991), and got out of Iraq.

Smokyboy Apr 1st, 2008 05:47 PM

Wow! We were bitchin about THESE prices?!

jojo46 Apr 1st, 2008 06:43 PM

Leaving politics aside, Bellingham WA in northwest generally has highest gas prices in mainland U S. On Sunday, $3.40 a gallon (reg) at less expensive Fred Meyer's, at Chevron and like, prices ranged up to $3.65 for regular!!!! Glad we're heading south and east on our driving holiday.

Meanwhile Maui and Kauai usually have highest gas prices. Kauai gas is $3.59 gallon at Costco.

jojo46 Apr 1st, 2008 06:47 PM

PS Apologies, I was rather clueless, didn't check posting dates re gas prices.

So can't help but consider politics, what a difference a presidential term makes !?!

alan64 May 7th, 2008 12:48 PM

Costco in South San Francisco is $3.87. Give me those Bellingham rates!!!

SuzieTrue May 7th, 2008 03:27 PM

Love seeing some of these old posts brought to the top. What a difference a few years make!

The price of gas hit $3.89 in mid-Michigan today.
