Funny Restaurants...
Hello all!
I'm just curious about any crazy name restaurants in your state? I just heard of one in Eugene, Oregon called Cafe Lucky Noodle and that got me wondering what other funny restaurant names there are. -Jenna |
There is the famous Mother Truckers in Phoenix and a chain in So Calif known as Fudruckers.
I always liked Dewey Cheatem & Howe.
Another more unique name and philosophy is Daisy Dukes in Tempe, Arizona. Dukes side is for the boys and Daisy's side is for the girls.
Fuddruckers is actually in 33 states. I've eaten there in MI and FL.
There's a restaurant here called Sushi.Come |
I like the deli on Maui called Who Cut The Cheese. Also in this party town of Whistler there is a Thai retaurant called Thai One On. |
Who cut the cheese? I'm rolling on the floor.
Reminds me of the time I got a very formal invitation from a very straight-laced couple who had joined a cheese club and sent out invitations saying "Come help us cut some cheese". I don't think they had a clue. |
There's the Stinking Onion in San Fransisco--every dish has garlic. The interior wall murals are terrific.
it's the stinking rose in san francsico. great place!
Next to the Statehouse in Boston. The Fill-a-Buster deli.
We have Sushi to Dai For (owner's name is Dai).
I thought Roly Poly was a funny and appropriate name for a Southern cuisine restaurant in Jax Fl.
How many hushpuppies can you eat before you get rolypoly? |
On Maui, a deli called "Bob's On A Roll"
In Winston-Salem, NC, coming soon: "Paisley Pineapple and Sofa Bar" |
Big Wong in NYC?
I think Piggly-Wiggly is a funny name for a grocery store. We call shopping there picking something up at 'The Pig'. |
Loisde, where is the Pineapple Bar going to be located?
Used to be (probably still is) a restaurant in Atlanta catering to both sit-down diners and carry out...they call it 'Indigo; Out To Go"
My mother insists that during the 1940's they ate fairly often at a drive-in restaurant in Ohio that featured rabbit. It was called "Bunny on a Bun."
And I love the rotisserie chicken place in Columbia, S. C. called "Birds on a Wire". I also liked the place in London on Portabello Road called "The S & M Cafe" -- which served sausage and mash. What about Dr. Hogly Wogly's BarBQ in LA? I always wanted to open a bar/restaurant that featured Asian and Mexican food and call it Thai Juan On. |
We ate at a bar and grill in Colorado a few years ago called the Fun Hog Ranch.
In Baltimore there's a restaurant called Crabby Dicks. Even funnier is the hostess...dressed in an orange crab costume with big claws!
There used to be a place called Bar-F BBQ in San Angelo, Texas...
I remember that S&M place in London, lol!
In Tigard, OR is Nacho Mama's. |
In Portland OR we have a downtown food cart called The Wicked Wiener.
And there's a little wine bar (with cross-dressing waiters one night/week) called Crush. Maybe that's more 'cute' than funny though. |
There is a restaurant in Houston named Fu Kim. Never say that one fast!
sks, we have a Wine Bar/Bistro here (Jax Fl)called Crush too :)
In Flagstaff there's a place called Bun Huggers that has the best hamburgers.
There is a coffee & donuts bar in RI called "Brewed Awakenings". Also a chain restaurant in Mass called "Not Your Average Joe's".
We have a restaurant at our Baseball Stadium in Winnipeg called Hu's on First.
There's a bar and grill south of Fargo, N.D., that people call "The Knicker." The full name is "The Knickerbocker Liquor Locker."
There's a place in downtown Winnipeg called "Pasta La Vista." |
My cousin frequented a bar called "He's Not Here". That way, when the wife would call the bar looking for hubby,....you know the rest.
Never ate there, but there's a chicken place in Newark Delaware called "Cluck U"
There was - maybe still is, but probably not - a chain of pub-type establishments in Britain called Dirty Dick's. I remember when I was a kid (many, many decades ago) my parents were entertaining a visiting British surgeon one afternoon, chatting very politely and properly over afternoon tea. They got to the subject of restaurants in the UK. My mother said pleasantly "There are a lot of Dirty Dick's in London, aren't there?" The doctor caught my eye, burst out laughing, and said "Oh, I don't know, I suppose so!" which endeared him to me forever.
In Portland, Oregon
Hung Far Low - Chinese restaurant. Gassy Jack's - pub. |
Up the street from me (in chicago) there is a sushi place called Bob-San Sushi. But I've heard a lot of people just call it Bob's ... there is something about when I heard a local cop say (in that distinct cop way), "yeah, I'm going to Bob's for Sushi, wanna come" to his partner, that I found very amusing.
We have a Nacho Mama's in New Orleans, too. And the "sister" restaurant is Mother Cluckers.
Here are my favorites (where I have actually been) from my area: (North Carolina)
'The Goody Goody Omelet House' in Wilmington 'Toot N Tell' in Garner (has a drive through where you used to toot your horn and then tell them what you wanted) 'Takey Outey' in Raleigh (Chinese) I also have some Caribbean faves... 'Pon de Corner' (up on the corner) 'Chicken Lavish' 'Tastee Patties' - all in Jamaica 'Skinny Legs' - St John |
Similar to He's not Here..
There is a bar in suburban Chicago called: At the Office |
Used to be a coffee shop & Christian bookstore in Newberg, Oregon: Higher Ground.
