Alas, "Waddles" has recently closed in Portland OR. Their slogan was, "You walk in, but you waddle out!" Their onion rings were to die for. :-(

sks May 2nd, 2005 12:43 PM

And those 'Waddles' home fries at breakfast...yum yum.
(Can't believe they closed for a Krispy Kream of all things, and now Krispy has decided against it afterall. )

JJ5 May 2nd, 2005 12:45 PM

There's a butcher/deli and take out in Chicago called "Moo and Oink".

I don't remember where, probably in California somewhere, a Thai food restaurant "Thai me up".

Dayle May 2nd, 2005 03:58 PM

In Park City, we also have a Nacho Mama's. In Salt Lake, there is also a Brewed Awakenings coffee drive thru.

My favorite is a bar that's been around many, many years. Used to be called "My Wife's Place". Now it's "X Wife's Place."

Scarlett May 2nd, 2005 04:17 PM

Rich....*** "And the horse you rode in on"

Gene May 2nd, 2005 05:43 PM

Hey Rain_Monkey03 you started a pretty funny post here and got a lot of responses cause it's a fun post which we need more of! I suggest you start another one on funny names/slogans of businesses.

I would do it myself but this is your gig so go for it.

I'll give you a start. There is a septic system cleaner truck that goes around here on Cape Cod with a slogan "We are #1 in #2".

Wednesday - you beat me to it - I was reading the thread and thought I just had to post the "A&K Lick-A-Chick" www.lick-a-chick.com.
It's in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

There's a commercial on TV now with a fake restaurant that is getting no business - it's name is "Sam 'N Ella's Restaurant" (or something close to that).

Found it hilarious as we would always joke about inviting Sam and Ella to dinner when people would talk about keeping areas clean when preparing raw chicken or having undercooked burgers.

Meesthare May 3rd, 2005 09:07 AM

Quite right, kcapuani! My daughter used to work there. It was always a bit embarrassing explaining that to people. :)

gc May 3rd, 2005 10:46 AM

There used to be a hot dog stand in San Francisco called "Franks for the Memories"

Then there's "Beaver Dick's" in Jackson Hole...

bennnie May 3rd, 2005 11:04 AM

The Library was the name of a club in Lincoln RI also - not too far from a number of colleges. "Tell my parents I'm at the Library if they call!!"

And the campus pub at Fairfield University (home of the Stags) was called the Stagger Inn.

On Plum Island there was a little take out place that was called Atty. May's. - owned by a lawyer.

I always thought Dirty's in Houston was a strange name for a restaurant. They sure do make a great chicken fried steak, though.

rex_skidmore May 27th, 2005 10:51 AM

Meow-Bow Kitchen.

Cactus Jack's Halfway Cafe.

Fodorite018 May 27th, 2005 10:56 AM

Suds n Suds in Corvallis, OR. Half of it is a pizza place with a great bar where you can drink yourself around the world, and the other half is a laundromat. Perfect for college students!
