Rant: seem to need to file a flight plan before "driving" it -- still short a few accessories.

Rave: My DH is doing well and is now back to work after being home for a week, and we are so thankful it turned out to be nothing serious. What a scare we had for a couple weeks there.

Rave: My business trip to Miami was cancelled last week due to Hurricane Jeanne, so I got to spend an unexpected week with my DH before having to leave. :)

Rant: Now I really DO have to leave tomorrow night for Miami. :(

Rave: Have a spa appointment and some shopping planned with a girlfriend during the week, so it won't be all work and no play. :)

Rant: Hurricane Jeanne and the additional devastation she did to those in the Caribbean and the US. :(

Rave: The wonderful Fodorites on this board.

Rave: Scarlett had a great trip to Portland AND no weight gain.

Here I am. I guess my mind was elsewhere this morning.

Rant. Saturday night temp will be in the mid 20's. I will have lots of green frozen tomatos.

Rave. I won't have to push my tomatoes on people anymore!

Rave--A special event for DS at the football game tonight. It will be fun...a small town and its events can't be beat:)

Rant--Had to cancel dinner reservations because of the event.

Rave--DD and I will dine there next weekend while the buys are away.

Rant--Mt. St. Helens...wish it would hurry up so we can still do our snowshoeing and backpacking there this winter.

Rave--Scarlett enjoyed our area...course she also had unseasonably great weather so saw it at its best!

Rave--All signed up for the Seattle Marthon!

Rave--Started all my volunteering at the local schools and meeting lots of nice people:)

Rave: It was so beautiful in Naples this morning I put the top down to drive over for my early morning "pill and pep talk" visit with Mom.

Rant: A freaky little shower came up while I was inside and drenched the car.


Rave: I just discovered I can fly round trip Ft. Lauderdale to LaGuardia all of December for a total of $118 on American!

Rant: I can't afford the other "holiday" prices in NYC including tickets and hotel, so I can't go!

Rant: Fall has started out cooler than normal with a little too much cloud cover for my tastes.

Rave: Highs are in the low to mid 70s, lows are in the mid 60s, and it's still not raining. I'll stop whining about the "weather".

Rant: Friday at work, meeting at 10, blah blah blah. Gotta fix a toilet back home too.

Rave: Mellow weekend after fixing the john: bike rides, grilling, movie ("The Forgotten"), kicking back.

Rave: Sister's CAT scan this week is completely clear and normal! Cancer-free again!! And two more cycles of chemo and maybe her hair will be back to normal (albeit shorter) by Xmas!

Rant: Too many stupid people in the world, controlling our destinies.

Rave: Love, friends, family and cool places to enjoy them-- they allow you to put up with the stupid people.

Rave: Navy beat Air Force last night.

Rave: Going to the Navy Ball tonight in A/C -- First time at the Borgata.

Rant: Have to come home to cut the grass Saturday morning. ((b))

Rant: I can't even go there.

Rant: Miserable, rainy summer

Rave: Gorgeous weather ever since school started up..........looks like Fall Foliage will be stunning

Rant: Too many Hurricanes and lives lost

Raves: The way people come together in time on need

Rave: Its fall, and its football season. JETS! Hopefully this will stay a rave after the Miami game on Sunday

Rant: Very sad for NY radio fans, Scott Muni passed away this week. He certainly changed FM radio in NYC.

Rant: No trips planned for the near future, but we're working on it.

Rave: Cooler weather on the way and the change of seasons --it's subtle in south Texas and it's better than nothing :-)

Rant: It's fall, my favorite season and the only time of year that I miss living in Maryland (~~)

Rave: I haven't worked--by choice--for the past three years but this week I started a new job that I think I am really going to enjoy, fingers crossed :-)

Rave: Finally went to Atlantic City last weekend after never having been there.

Rant: I lost $150, BF lost $100. We should have both walked when we were both up.

Rave: LEARNED A NEW TRAVEL TRICK!! NEVER believe the websites when they say a hotel is "sold out". I even the hotel's own website showing sold out, and when I called directly, they said they have availability. So we managed to get a hotel in AC last minute that way.

Rave: A bunch of us from work are going out tonight, possibly to the Publin Pubn which I haven't been to since I was 25. (Ok so it's not that long ago!)

Rave: The Yankees!! The Jets!! Woohooo!

Rant: I realized I gained 30 lbs in the past year. Time to hit the gym like a maniac before the holidays start and I do more damage!

Rave: There's a gym right down the hall from my office for $200 a year.

Rave: It's Friday!! Everyone have a great weekend!!

Summer is finally over and it is pleasantly cool.

Rave: I found a great new restaurant here in town and was able to save $20 on our meal last Fri. night!

Rant: Trying to lose a few pounds before the holidays and DH hands me a goblet full of Vanilla Haagan Daz & my favorite chocolate-orange wine sauce while watching the debate last night!

Rave: DD was the top shooter in the water polo tournament last weekend and got her name read over the loud speaker at school. She thought that was really cool!

Rant: Squeeky brakes and steering acting weird on our car with over 150,000 miles on it. I know we have trade "her" in, I'm pretty attached to this car, tho!

Rave: I was able to spend some quality time with busy DD this week. We watched ET while the guys went to Forgotten, I took her out of school for a couple of hours this week to come home and get caught up on some homework. She thinks it would be nice to be home-schooled (like one of her older brothers) so she could "eat PBJ's whenever she wanted to!")

Rant: Haven't been able to make it up to our condo, maybe this weekend for a day trip, if we're lucky!

Rave: Got our first renter's check from our newly remodeled beach cottage in Seaside, Oregon! That was fun!

Rant: Our sectional we ordered for the cottage "got lost." A new one should be shipped shortly!

Rave: DD was asked by my son's fiance to be a bridesmaid this week! (sniff, sniff) She's really thrilled!

Rave: Kind-hearted sons that pick their moms red roses and say,"this is for you, MOM." Happy fall everyone! Enjoy the weekend! ***kim*** :)

Rave: That means I won't have to water the veggie garden. I, too, have to beg people to help us with our surfeit of tomatoes, and there are eggplants coming. We've got oregano and basil too; somebody told us we're growing a pizza. :)

Rant-I was perusing the dog rescue websites looking to adopt another dog. The abuse stories are just horrendous!

Rave-Beautiful fall weather. Here's hoping Fodorite Floridians have blue skies and calm winds..

Rave--Maybe the mountain erupting now will give me my wish so we can still go backpack there this winter! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Bonnie--There is a fantastic pumpkin bread recipe from Cooking Light.

Budman--Have fun at the Navy Ball for us! DH recently retired and we won't make a ball until next spring most likely.

Lee Ann--will you have a car? There are fun things to do in San Antonio that don't cost much if at all...you can visit the River Walk & La Villita--if you park at River Center Mall get your parking ticket validated by one of the stores and that will get you an hour or two of free parking. The Alamo is free though there is a donation box. Downtown is beautiful and definately worth a visit if you haven't been before. :-)

Rant: Dell computers! DS's new laptop wouldn't operate only 3 weeks after receiving it. DS and DH spent hours with tech support with no satisfaction. The ultimatum was finally given: send someone to fix it or replace it!

dcespedes, it is the November 1998 issue. My moms old recipe was always out favorite...but it was too heavy for a healthy diet and this one has now recplaced it. Another favorite fall recipe from CL is the cinnamon apple cake from October 1997. I always get asked for both of these recipes.

Mms, would you like to post that recipe? I thought I could get it off their site, but I don't get the magazine, and am not an AOL member, so it blocks me! Thanksabunch!
