Bonnie, I just posted both recipes on the Southern thread for you:)

Marilyn Oct 1st, 2004 01:59 PM

Rant: Our beloved cat fell off the roof this week, 3 stories down, onto the rocky bed of an almost dry stream. Our hearts stopped beating as we ran down to recover his body.

Rave: He's ok. No broken bones, no internal injuries, just a bashed, split lip. How do they do that?

Rant: That little escapade cost $275 and one of his nine lives for sure.

Rave: Bought a pair of killer boots for my upcoming high school reunion.

Keep it up, Bonnie, Welcome back, Scarlett, and Meetshare, we could help you out with that garden surplus problem. How about a personal veggie delivery?

highbay Oct 1st, 2004 02:00 PM

Rave: The fall weather in Maine is wonderful. Zero humidity, high's in the 60's, lows in the 40's, aaahhhh.

Rant: My vacation in Maine is ending tomorrow morning. Have to drive 1600 miles home to Florida.

Rant: The rest of the U.S. thinks that Florida is a sitting duck with the eye of a hurricane constantly aimed in our direction.

Rave: I hope that this will discourage the rest of the U.S. with regards to moving to our fair state!

dcespedes Oct 1st, 2004 02:14 PM

Oh my gosh, Marilyn, I'm so sorry to read about your cat but glad he's okay. Those kitties don't always spend their 9 wisely, do they? At least mine hasn't.... ((@))

Hi bonniebroad, looks as though mms beat me to the punch (thank you, mms!)--next time? SL is my other favorite--that and CL are the only food mags I subscribe to. Enjoy! :-)

cigalechanta Oct 1st, 2004 02:21 PM

Marilyn, give that cat a hug for me.

bonniebroad Oct 1st, 2004 02:24 PM

Thank you anyway, dcespedes!! :-) And, mms, I found you on the other thread! Again, thanks so much for the recipes!

Thank you ((f)) , all you guys, for your support with the weight-loss and exercise plan. It's going very well even though I managed to stress that knee (much better - am back walking 1 - 1/2 miles four times a week now), and pulled my back (improved but not quite right yet.) Every bit of encouragement means a lot! :-)

bonniebroad Oct 1st, 2004 02:31 PM

Marilyn, so sorry for your kitty!! Poor little thing.......... :-( Give him a good love for me! Our neighbor's cat was caught in the automatic garage door (the top of it), and no one knew it. I heard whimpering when I came out to take a walk! Fireman came, I didn't think the he would live......... but his recovery was amazing. I think cats really do get nine lives!!!!!!! :-)

Meesthare Oct 1st, 2004 02:34 PM

Marilyn, give Kitty a hug for me too. A gentle one.
Sounds like everybody would like some tomatoes. Come on up to Toronto - I'll be standing on the front lawn! We've got yellow ones and red ones. I just picked a few more on my way into the house when I came home from work.

Marilyn Oct 1st, 2004 02:39 PM

Romeo thanks you all for your concern and for the hugs, which he cannot ever have enough of. Fortunately, he is a big boy and very huggable. ((@))

seetheworld Oct 1st, 2004 02:42 PM

Wasn't it last week that someone's cat jumped up and knocked over a heavy vase? Mischievous little kitties! Glad to hear your cat survived, Mariyln. I only have a lonely little fish and he pretty much just stays out of trouble O:)

Scarlett Oct 1st, 2004 02:48 PM

Marilyn~
Please add my hugs and kisses for the kitty recovery ((@))
I imagine how awful you must have felt followed by how great it was that he was alive!!
I wonder if this will curb his pleasure in heights :D

Marilyn Oct 1st, 2004 03:20 PM

seetheworld, the kitty that jumped up and knocked over the vase and BROKE OUR BATHROOM SINK (!) was this same bad boy! It's a good thing we love him so much, isn't it?

Marilyn Oct 1st, 2004 03:21 PM

Scarlett, we have removed the roof access so this will not be an issue in the future. Thanks!

razzledazzle Oct 1st, 2004 03:34 PM

Scarlett Oct 1st, 2004 04:02 PM

razzledazzle, we had a Sebastian cat for 18 years...((L)) He was Pups best friend.

mclaurie, Thank you dear :) No real estate but we did go to an open house that made my heart flutter ... probably gave the poor Yankees heart some palpitations too..it was a wee bit costly but what a house!! (picture : winding road, English country type cottage, fireplaces in bedroom and living room, perched on the edge of a ravine..sigh)

razzledazzle Oct 1st, 2004 04:18 PM

Scarlett:
AAwwww....Nice memories,yes?...give Pup a hug! I wish they would live forever...
My "Sabby" is 10 and quite the baby,
though he still can drive his sisters
(and us)batty.
(Do you remeber the Midnight "chasing of the banshees")

So, glad you enjoyed Portland- the real estate out in the coastal pacific gives MY heart a flutter-must
be why Mr.R5 has moved up from muttering to
nearly full sentences about moving to Asheville NC-I'll have to start an inquiry thread if this keeps up!
R5

Marilyn Oct 1st, 2004 04:31 PM

Thanks, R5. We used to call that "Midnight Madness."

Tell Mr. Razzle the wine's not as good in NC.

cigalechanta Oct 1st, 2004 04:32 PM

A great cat story is by the French writer, Colete, called the cat. A newly wed is jealous of her new husband's cat and throws him from the balcony(it's unhurt)Marriage ends!!!
Tho Marilyn never cares about my comments :)

razzledazzle Oct 1st, 2004 04:36 PM

Cigale:
the cat or the husband get's tossed?
:))
Maybe it was Marilyn's Midnight Madness...
R5
PS
Marilyn-we may have to have our wine
shipped in as "Aunt Em's peach jam"
!!!

Marilyn Oct 1st, 2004 04:45 PM

Cigale, (do I perceive a pout?) I adore Colette -- she is one of my favorite writers and it's a bonus that she was so fond of cats.

cigalechanta Oct 1st, 2004 04:45 PM

he dumps the wife! I had three cats when I married. My J. hated cats but grew to love them and through the years he mourns them as much as I do.

Seetheworld: I love Dell computers! We have two laptops and three PC's at our house. Dell has always treated us very well. When my DS's laptop was vandalazied at school (he was in the laptop program) they immediately sent him a brand new computer, no questions asked.

The reps that come out to your house to fix a problem have always been professional, also! ***kim***

kimamom Oct 1st, 2004 05:32 PM

oops, make that vandalized! ***kim***

seetheworld Oct 1st, 2004 05:47 PM

Kimamom, we have never had problems with our Dell pcs (we have two), but we have had major problems with two out of our three laptops. This time the laptop just died and when the tech told DS to get a screwdriver and open the back of the machine instead of making a service call, we got really upset. It took many calls and an upper level manager to finally get them to send a new one. I don't think the next laptop, however, will be a Dell. I'm glad you have been very fortunate with service but that has not been our experience.

ElendilPickle Oct 1st, 2004 08:42 PM

>>Lee Ann--will you have a car? There are fun things to do in San Antonio that don't cost much if at all...you can visit the River Walk & La Villita--if you park at River Center Mall get your parking ticket validated by one of the stores and that will get you an hour or two of free parking. The Alamo is free though there is a donation box. Downtown is beautiful and definately worth a visit if you haven't been before.<<

That sounds promising! Thanks for the tips. Transportation's not a problem as we're driving from New Mexico. I'm sure dd's suitor will want to get off the base, so maybe we'll head downtown.

Marilyn: Here are some more purrs for your kitty and good wishes for his recovery, from me, and ...
the kitty sitting on my monitor (whose tail keeps blocking my view) ...
the one snoozing on my PC ...
the one relaxing on the printer ...
the one studying the mouse ...
the one sitting in my lap ...
the one drifting off to sleep in the chair next to me ...
the two bathing each other on the cabinet next to the computer desk ...
and so on, and so on, and so on ...

Rave: I'm back online after too long a hiatus.

Rave: We finally moved into our new house.

Rant: it's still not finished, so there is a nonstop parade of plumbers, electricians, painters, etc stumbling over our boxes.

Rave: the kids are adjusting pretty well.

Rave: 51 crisp degrees in Tulsa with a clear blue sky. I love it!

Rave: DH and I started talking vacation and it looks like San Diego (with kids) and Amalfi Coast (without kids) are on the docket for next year.

Rave: I'm so glad to be back!

Betsy Oct 2nd, 2004 07:54 AM

Hi Jocelyn_P! Welcome back, welcome home :-D

Jocelyn_P Oct 2nd, 2004 08:01 AM

A new job, dcespedes? Email me with details...same address.

Marilyn Oct 2nd, 2004 08:06 AM

Donna, exactly how many cats do you have? (I counted 8 in your last post.)

Betsy, thanks!

To all kind and concerned kitty-lovers: Our boy Romeo requires no recovery -- he is actually just FINE. Not even any apparent sore spots. The mind boggles.

kimamom Oct 2nd, 2004 08:43 AM

Seetheworld: at least you got a new computer! That's great!

Rave: Saw the movie Ladder 49 last night! It was amazing, take a lot of tissues, tho!
