Freaky Friday Rants 'n Raves - May 7
Rant: Fodors seems to be very creaky and cranky of late, especially this morning.
Rave -- but tepid: We knew Ross and Rachel would end up together, so it was just a question of how the writers would do it. Liked the plot twists to get Rachel back to Ross (especially the concession by the airline to provide "lots of phalanges" in response to the hysteria), very much liked the symbolism of everyone putting their keys on the counter as they left the apartment, liked the overall low-key tone (but twins?). Would have liked slightly more depth and drama in the Ross-Rachel mutual confession of love -- it was so brief after an hour of recap and 45 min. of build-up and ads. The Chandler-Monica engagement scene was such a gem, this was sort of "eh, yuh, they've said they'd be together forever before." Especially with Emma and Ben in the picture, shouldn't somebody have said the "M" word? I thought maybe Ross would get a job in a Paris museum...... Oh well, they didn't ask me. ;-) ;-) |
Rant: I paid $28 to fill up my car yesterday (and it's NOT an SUV! How much do you SUV owners pay??)
Rave: 5 weeks till Riviera Maya! |
I've been waiting for this since Tuesday!
Rave: I sold my house in San Jose (!) after 4 days on the market for a whisker over asking price to a preapproved buyer with no contingencies! Rave #2: The houses value increased $60,000 in the 6 months I dragged my feet getting it ready to put on the market! Rant: Sorry, can't think of a darn thing (that isn't political). |
whoo hoo friday! : )
rave: mothers day is sunday, and brothers birthday is this week! rave: my plans this weekend consist of good food/drink and relaxing. ((B)) rave: 'friends' was good last night. low key, but good. i would have like something stronger with ross/rachel, but it's all good. thank god for reruns! =D> rant: terrible coffee this morning! [( rant: is it ever going to be over 60 degrees? 8-| :-D |
Congratulations Grasshopper - that's great ! Who says procrastination is bad.
Rave: Red Sox are winning again. The sun is shining. My daughter celebrated her First Communion last Saturday and all went well. The little girls in their white dresses looked precious as did the boys in their navy blue blazers. I love that my fellow parishioners dress their kids fairly low key for the event. No veils, no white suits. The kids actually look like kids. And the party back at the house went well. The old folks sat under the tree while the kids ran through the yard. The guys stood around the grill while the women set out the salads etc. Typical American scene. Rants: Going to Memphis for 1 week. Don't mind the trip but I'll miss my family. Maybe I'll actually get to Graceland this time. |
Rave- If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world. If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, especially in the United States. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all. You are so blessed in ways you may never even know. Rant-that after knowing all of these things, it's a constant struggle to remind myself that I'm lucky and forget the petty bitching. If rants are pet peeves-then people who talk in the movies get my top vote (they should be bound and gagged-and you know who you are!!) If those of you who do chat during a flick would be so bold as to tell us why you feel that you can intrude on others like you're in your own living room??? I'd love to know:) |
Raves/Rants (can't decide): Off today for b-day after working 16 straight days of 12 to 27 hr shifts for a project. I'm finally off, but it cost me one more year on the odometer. Packing up the car, two 50 lb dogs, Mother's Day presents, leftover cake and the kitchen sink for a 4.5 hr drive home to St. Louis tomorrow. And another 4.5 hrs back on Monday. But it's still home. |
Rave:
The sun is shining. The new floor is almost finished. Friends. Mothers/daughters. The Yankee & Pup Rant: Not worth the mention :) |
rave: the sun is out.
rant: the squirrels are making a mess. |

Rave: We're going to our 9 year old niece's first piano recital tonight. |
I'm getting it too Marilyn.
I thought it was me..I guess it's Fodors' problem. |
Rave, it's a comfort to know I'm not alone with the error message!!
|
Rant: that error message is annoying! Good it goes away after a couple of clicks on the same post!
Rave: we had coffee tasting at work this morning, we're getting better coffee, it means the company is doing better, and the annual increases are due at the end of the month. More vacation money :) Rant: my younger son moved out a week ago. Rave: he came home with an empty backpack and "cleaned out" our refrigerator. Rave: my older son called, he'll visit us this weekend. Rant: my husband had his denture taken out by a dentist for some dental work. Rave: he doesn't talk as much now :) |
The "Error Occurred While Processing Request"?
Rant! |
Rant: Busy weekend, swim meets, proms, Mother's Day brunch after church, then to Shaver Lake to kayak and have dinner, then back home for strawberry pizza with my family.
Off to Cambria for my birthday, I love that place! Hope to try some new places to eat there! Rant: It's getting really hot here, already and the air quality has not been so great, either!!! Happy Mother's Day to all you terrific Moms out there!!! ***kim*** :) |
Rave: Off to Myrtle Beach for bike week!
Rave: It's supposed to be in the 90s this weekend! Rave: I'm happy, healthy, and am married to the best human being on the planet! |
Happy birthday Kim!
Big Rant: The senate hearings. Stop dancing and answer the questions! |
Rave: Beautiful day! Warm weather at last.
Rant: Daughter's junior prom this weekend and a new drama emerges daily. Friend trouble (who is going to whose after-party), boyfriend trouble (not allowed to go to anyone's after-party) and parent trouble (please stop crying we say, get some perspective we say) I will be happy when it is over. |
The Senate hearings-the ultimate reality show. The twists and turns don't stop coming. Time for Rummy to say bye-bye!
|
I hear ya, Suki! The drama of high school, huh? Wow, could I ever write a book!! Only three more years until our youngest is graduated! Hang in there!! ***kim*** :)
|
Rant: Ohhhhhhhhh. I am tryng sooooo hard not to get political. arggggg.

Rant: Bachelor party hangover
Rant: Rehearsal dinner tonight, parents are fighting, brother (best man) broke his leg this morning as a result of being hit by a car, but: Rave: I'm marrying my best friend tomorrow. |
Dan Congratulations! I hope you have a long, happy, wonderful, healthy marriage.
One thing my mother told me keeps my husband and I from fighting; we do not combine our money and never have. We do own things together but do not have joint checking accounts. |
Rant: The STUPID error message! Rave: We're going to the Florida Keys tomorrow morning and will be spending a month down there! |
Rant: This damn error message on Fodors! Maybe Fodors got hit with the Sasser Worm??
Rave: It's a beautiful day here in NYC Rant: Still adjusting to being back at work after being gone for 11 days in 90 degree and sunny weather! I wish I was still lying by the pool in Miami or on the beach in PR!! Rave: Going to Mohegan Sun tomorrow with my BF and a friend of his. Rant: Only hotel we could get a nearby booking at was an EconoLodge. Rant: Here's what I want to know: We had to apologize for the disgusting photos, yet we never got an apology from Iraq's leaders for the treatment of our people after they were mutilated, dragged through the streets, burned alive and hung from bridges. They have also said the pictures were upsetting because it's a sin for them to be photographed. Funny, but they didn't seem to mind being photographed when they were dancing in front of the bodies of our dead. Sorry for getting political!! Rave: It's Friday!! 2 more hours and I'm outta here! |
The difference is that we're American. We should strive to be better than our enemies, not sink down to their level.
Yes they did horrible things, now we look just as bad. A picture of an American soldier giving the thumbs up sign over a beaten, dead body? Pics of skinned cows and severed cat heads?? Just what kind of lunatics do we have representing our beloved country? The biggest rant of all is that their disgusting behaviour has endangered the good troops by fueling the hate. They come from a third world country and have been brainwashed their whole lives. What's our excuse??? |
Rave: Going to NYC for the first time 05/15 - 05/21!!
Rant: Was supposed to go with mom, best friend and her sister. Mom is stuck in the hospital in Italy, has been there almost 3 weeks now. Can't fly home due to blood clots in her legs. :-( Rave: Mom is getting better and her homecoming will be most joyous! Rave: Still going to NYC despite set-back. |
I don't want to get too political, either, but I do have to comment re: >>"we never got an apology from Iraq's leaders"<< What leaders? It's total anarchy over there. Technically, the United States is Iraq's leader, at least until June 30. Rave: Friends was satisfying and I will always be wondering about the phalanges on a plane from now on. Rant: My husband cooked a goose liver last night(yuck) and now the whole house smells disgusting. Also, I learned today that one of our geese at work was hit by a car and died, and I can't help making a connection to what I saw in the pan last night. |
Rave: Just found out my brother-in-law got his tourist visa approved and will be out here next Tuesday with his two daughters!!!
Rant: Gotta spend this weekend cleaning the house! Rave: Sister is flying out from Chicago to run the Bay to Breakers! Rant: Just threw out my stale tortillas--woulda saved them for her to throw had I known. |
elle, poor goose. poor you, the smell of some things should stay in the restaurant:)
Another Rave: It was 89 here in Florida today. Pup got his new haircut. He is slim trim and has a big nose. My flowers that I planted yesterday are growing already!! |
Rave: Leaving for Southern Caribbean cruise tomorrow!
Rave: My daughter and her husband are meeting us in Puerto Rico and cruising with us! Rant: Will I ever learn to pack light? |
Rave: the San Jose weirdo did not try to hijack any of ChatNoir posts :) The fellow Borgs and Borgesses know what I mean!
|
RAVE: My very first Mother's Day!
RANT: The end of Friends-so bummed! |
A Big Fat Giant Rave: My beautiful niece is about to get her first Holy Communion...off to mass. Then celebrating dinner with family afterwords :)
|
A "phalange" is another word for "phalanx"; but "phalanges" can refer to bones in your hands or feet. Phoebe used it as a phony surname on at least one occasion with a bizarre first name.
Rave: summer's here. Rant: it's 90 and summer's here. I feel sleepy and stupid, not used to the heat. Another NBC TV Rant: They're going to kill Donna off on West Wing. |
missjanna, King George II supposedly had control of Iraq as of May 1, 2003. "Mission Accomplished". What we are seeing from Iraq now is nothing short of pornography.
|
Rave: The weather. Perfect summer day in NYC.
Rant: Tragic events around the world on everyone's minds cutting into carefree enjoyment of a beautiful summer day. Rave: Was able to switch weekend Hamptons reservations in June for a different weekend with no problem even though it said no cancellation when I booked. Rant: Fodor website errors. Rave/rant: Verspertine's message reminding me how lucky we are, then making me fell guilty for complaining about lots of petty things in life considering how lucky we are. :) |
rant and rave--have had nonstop company since moving into our new home...4 different sets of guest in the last week and a half even...but they were great:)
rave--found a drive-in theater in a neighboring town so will take the kids to that tonight and relax! |
