Thanks, KAL, now I'll recognize Faina when I see her. Good pic.

We are off to MI in just a few hours, and some purple teeth this weekend as well.

kureiff Aug 18th, 2006 11:41 AM

You have cute nuts Kal!

jorr Aug 18th, 2006 11:47 AM

GoTravel, no you are not nutty. I said I am glad you still have two nuts unlike the other unfortunate people's nuts You referred to. :-))

Tiff Aug 18th, 2006 11:58 AM

Oh Kal, wonderful Kal, thank you for posting the link to your pix. I smiled and laughed, it was so great to see such happy faces. The pix of you and Faina with towel was so funny. I wish I had been there.

You have made my day! Thank you.

FainaAgain Aug 18th, 2006 11:59 AM

Kureiff, thank you so much! At last a voice of reason on this forum! :X

JaGirl, what bottle? Was there a bottle? And all I had was a glass of water... not even filtered! :-?

Yeah, Kal, I know, you'll be eating your liver! :-"

Rant: Nuts. A dear friend from NY went on vacation many years ago and his neighbor cut down his centuries old black walnut tree and sold the wood - he definitely has no nuts now.
Jorr, good work on that glucose.
Rave: some good news, but still some lingering medical issues.
Rant: really not political, but...
I received this e-mail from my son, a hedge fund manager in Manhattan this AM:
"So you think the market is complacent?"
"The following reminds me - a committed, non-partisan Libertarian - of the scene in the movie version of the Twilight Zone:"
"You wanna see something really scary?"
The Democrats are expected, see intrade, to take the (US) House in November. If they do, the following reps will become chairman of these committees:
Energy and Commerce - Dingel
Fin Svc - Frank
Gov't Reform - Waxman
Judiciary - Conyers
Ways and Means - Rangel
BTW, that is MI, MA, CA, MI and NY.
Chuck Rangel running Ways and Means??
Dingel running Commerce??
"I think seat belts and crash helmets may be in order".
If you are still in USAizstan, have a decent job; property; investments; retirement plan assets or are receiving Federal bennies (SSC, MC, etc.) be very careful when you vote in November, lol.
Feliz fin de semana.

I've heard about numbnuts but can't find a nursery that sells numb trees.
;;)

GoTravel Aug 18th, 2006 12:01 PM

I am certainly purpling my teeth after my run this afternoon!

Please send Fodorite thoughts that I don't get run over on a Friday afternoon!

JAGIRL Aug 18th, 2006 12:23 PM

You have cute nuts Kal!

:)) :)) :)) He certainly does have cute nuts kureif! :)) :)) :))

Faina :D ...well, come to think of it, there were only two wine glasses there...and neither of them appeared to be in front of you :? :D

GoT: How's your back, kid? I thought you threw it out ;)

jorr Aug 18th, 2006 12:27 PM

Mikemo, I got a 188 this morning and not quite so happy now. Maybe it was the orange I ate at 10 PM. Very confusing but thanks for the support.

Re your friend's tree. Mine is also a Black Walnut tree and I planted it as a kid thinking I would get rich off the wood. Ya right! 35 years later the truck is only six inches in diameter. I will need to live another 150 years to cash in on it. I would never have the heart to cut it down anyway the older I get. Neither would the squirrels, those rodents with PR. I think the person who cut down the tree knew about the high value of the wood. I hope there was some compensation.

jorr Aug 18th, 2006 12:45 PM

Bucket Woman, I know it's getting late in London but where's that rodent stew recipe? Perhaps you need to ring up Daisy but don't wake Richard. He needs a break from all the chatter.

"Oh Richard"

mikemo Aug 18th, 2006 12:54 PM

Rodents: Those squirels here weigh about 4 kg, but I have not eaten one (to my knowledge).

BIG Rave: Last night we had an opening reception for Project Focus at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

The kids chosen for this project are at-risk kids--lived in foster care, some have been homeless--due to the fact that their parents were on drugs, in jail, or other circumstances. They were all recently reunited with their parents and are adjusting to being a family again. Sooooo at last night's event, it was pretty emotional when we unveiled the photos & essays. Women were crying. Men were crying. OK, it wasn't a downer, it really was more of a celebration! (With parole officers on hand.)

One of the kids, Kaipo, had been diagnosed with ADHD and a severe speech impediment at 3. Last night, gave did a really entertaining & articulate speech (while his grampa wept).

Check it out:

And watch the slide show, too:

If any of you fodorites are on Oahu, the exhibit runs till September 9. Bring a kleenix.

kureiff Aug 18th, 2006 01:09 PM

You're awesome Melissa! What a wonderful project. I work with our local Boys & Girls Club here, and we often have parole officers at our functions, too! :)

jorr Aug 18th, 2006 01:28 PM

Mikemo, 4 kg is almost nine pounds. Yikes. My bird feeder would be toast by now with those squirrels and a very tasty stew. :S-

FainaAgain Aug 18th, 2006 01:29 PM

Wonderful project! :X

dwooddon Aug 18th, 2006 02:18 PM

Jorr: Don't panic. You took a long time developing this disease and it usually takes awile to get it under control. Luckily, I was diagnosed before it got too bad but it still took my physician and I over 3 months to get it stablized and back in the normal range. I've now had a succession of every 90 day tests over six years where each one has been normal. Hang in there!

FainaAgain Aug 18th, 2006 02:39 PM

Just read an amazing story on MSNBC: 3 fishermen survived in the ocean for 9 months!

Rave: Caring friend who reach out to others

Rant: Babies whose lives will suffer for the choices of their parents

Rave: My amazing husband who inspires me with his strength and positive nature. I don't I deserve such a wonderful man but I sure am lucky to have him.

P_M Aug 18th, 2006 02:47 PM

OWJ, I have a bone to pick with you.
