Rant: Worked on my speed work this morning. My coach, Mr.GoTravel, had me running 50 YARD sprints. Not so bad? Try running TEN of them. Rant: I still can't feel my quads. Rave: Short long run tomorrow, only 8 miles. Rave: Whooda thunk that one day I'd think 8 miles was a short run? Rave: WhoooHooo! Date day tomorrow with Mr.GoTravel! Rave: Date day: Long run, day at the beach, mucho beers, steaks on the grill for dinner, early bed! Rave: Running agrees with me! |

Rave/Rant/??: We got a really good offer for our house, conditional on a building inspection. Figured the inspection wouldn't turn up much, since we had disclosed the imperfections from the outset and reduced the asking price accordingly. Inspector came yesterday; didn't find anything unexpected, but buyer is now demanding a price reduction. Bottom line: this house is going to get sold one way or another! Hello everyone!
Rave: Sister visited and then she and her husband went to Orlando and my parents and I got to keep my 13 month-old nephew for the past few days. He has been an angel..hardly cries or fusses at all! Rant: We have to give him back tomorrow. The cats will be happier, I'm sure, but we will miss him! Rave: Looks like it will be a nice, hot Florida summer day! Rave: Two weeks from short visit to Savannah! One week closer to India trip! (no, I won't do this every week until November, I promise!):) I hope things get better for those going through difficult times! |
Rave: A friend's wedding a week from tomorrow that will be sort of a reunion. It's pretty sad that the only time I hear from my old gang is when one of them are getting married. Oh well, I know once we all get together it will be like no time has passed and we'll party like it's 1999. That's actually the year that was the climax of our partying days :)
Rave: Another relaxing weekend at home. Rant: No extra money to really enjoy going out. Rave: Just means bf and I will have to make our own fun at home :) Rant: The feeling that we're never going to be able to buy a house! I hate this whole process Rave: Congrats to all the Fodorites who have been able to purchase their new homes! Rant: Found out recently I have fybromyalgia. Rave: After 12 yrs of being in constant pain it's nice to finally have some kind of explanation Rant: Family, friend, and coworkers don't really think of it as a big deal and don't understand the pain I deal with on a daily basis Wow, I seem to be full of rants today. I'll stop now! It's Friday and only 3 weeks until we go to Vermont for a week of "camping". My heart goes out to all of you suffering through some kind of pain, be it emotional or physical. I forgot to post an important rave.
Rave: My 78-year-old FIL is moving to West Texas. This is a rave because he is moving in with his lady friend. She is a kind and caring lady and she loves looking after him. DH will miss having his dad nearby, but I think my FIL will be much happier not to be living alone. It's inspiring to know that love can bloom at any age. |

have a wonderful time with that precious granddaughter! They grow up so fast! Rave/rant: Our granddaughter is 13 years old today! How can it be that we have a TEENAGED grandchild? Rave: We went birthday/school shopping yesterday. Results: several new outfits, three pairs of shoes, two necklaces to go with shoes and outfits, and lunch. Rant: Seems like yesterday that she was wearing pretty little smocked outfits. I could select those with confidence, but my "Grandma eyes" can't look at young teen clothes and tell whether they are fashionable or just wierd looking! Have a great weekend, everybody! Byrd |
Rave: almost a week with So. California Cousin, getting to show her the best the Triangle has to offer and seeing NC through her eyes -- she raved over all the greenness, lush and hilly terrain, but was astonished by the noise of the cicadas ("it's deafening").
Rant: she went back yesterday. Rave: we've passed the day when the statistical average daily temps. start back down again from a high of 87. Rant: temps. have been well above 87, air is getting muggier and dirtier, the depths of the summer <i>but</i> there's a HURRICANE lurking around out there, which might well head this way. Uh oh. |

Rave: ((#))Sunny & Hot in NJ! DH remembers to water the gardens way before I think of it! All my plants & flowers look great! Wishing I had room for veggies. Luckily I can still get those delicious jersey tomatos from Mom & Dad. Rave: DH found very cool old wrought iron cemetery fences on e-bay that will be perfect for on top of our new retaining wall. That project is progressing nicely (DH still digging the trench for footings...but expect to pour concrete & build the wall next weekend.) Rave: elizabeth_reed's Max ((@)) is officially adopted! Don't feel too bad, my Nattie cat once spent the whole day in my bedroom closet as he snuck in there to "shoe surf" one morning. I was puzzled when he wasn't at the door to meet me that night & spent about 20 minutes searching before I found him! ethyl: I sympathize about the high price of homes. It's worth the sacrifices to save & own your own place. Thing is, once you own, lots of your $$$ goes to home improvements instead of entertainment too...so love where you live! :) It can be so rewarding! Rave: New business is going great! Rave--Took DS for a recheck on his lymph nodes and they are shrinking! Will schedule an u/s just to verify, but the doctor said they are half the size they were a few months ago:)
Rant--Caught the dog eating all my ripe tomatos! She left half eaten green ones in the yard. I was wondering where all the ripe ones were going! She also sticks her head into a big planter box full of strawberries and helps herself to those. Where did she learn this??? Rave--Weather finally cooled off here and is very comfortable! LoveItaly--So sorry to hear about your friend. Bonnie--Enjoy that time! My DD had a blast with the grandparents, but she is back to reality here now, lol! Margot--Best wishes for your mom. Rave: My broken collarbone is finally healed - I rode 20 miles on Sun, my first time riding in 3 months (I broke my collarbone falling off my bike...) ! |

Rave: We (barely) survived the first week of visits by SO's children and grandchildren.
Rant: Two more weeks of same. Rave: SO hired a local cook for comida several times a week. Rave: I/N and VoIP working flawlessly on high speed cable broadband in new house. Rant: The thick concrete walls limit the range of the cordless phones and WiFi, but we have Ethernet ports in all rooms. M |
