Thanks, LoveItaly! Hope you have a great time at your dinner tomorrow night! Oops, it's after midnight, that should be tonight!

Leeann--I'm so, so sorry. I know you weren't expecting any of this and know firsthand how hard this is. Big hugs to you and your family.

Tiff--Check your inbox...I'm thinking of ya this weekend, kiddo ((f))

LI--You know how to reach me if you need me....

There's lots of others that I want to say hello to but like CAPH, I'm afraid I'll leave someone out.

To those with worries or sadness, I wish you easier times.

To those with good things happening--yay! Keep posting the happy stuff :)

Job hunters and those w/unreliable contractors--good luck!%%

And to everyone--remember that even when you are having a bad day, ice cream and chocolate still taste good! (Unless you are lactose intolerant and LoveItaly. LOL)

Those needing good luck--obviously you're not getting a four-leaf clover from me. Yikes! %%-

one thousand eight hundred forty six military lives lost in Iraq

jorr Aug 13th, 2005 09:11 AM

Yawn Boring, As a former member of the US Military I can assure you that soldiers are smart enough to know the difference between supporting them and not supporting a war. Especially when the reason for starting the war turns out to be bogus. I still have many military and ex-military friends who believe as I do. Some see a purpose in the Iraq war and some do not but we all support our soliers.

I can not understand why that is such a difficult concept for you. We All support our soldiers. If soldiers are being marched down the wrong road you don't just sit there and keep your mouth shut and let them get killed.

As for Mr. Bushes remarks that setting a time table for withdrawl is sending the wrong message I disagree. Bush is sending the message that Iraqis can just sit back as long as they want and let out soldiers do the work and take the bullet for them. They will not defend themselves as long as they know that Mr. Bush will keep our soldiers there "for as long as It takes". It is time for Iraqi men to get off of those tobacco bongs and defend their own country.

Amen Jorr, Amen

Well said, jorr. I've been wanting to post something since yesterday but didn't want this thread to turn political and get pulled. No matter one's opinion of this (or other) war(s) I strongly believe we ALL support our military.

CAPH52 Aug 13th, 2005 11:57 AM

I agree completely, jorr. We all support our troops and appreciate their sacrifices. But there is absolutely nothing patriotic about supporting a war we should never have started in the first place.

I want to thank everyone for their good wishes for my DGD and me. She arrived Friday morning, and by Saturday afternoon, I had silver fingernails on the left hand, purple ones on the right, and my toenails painted two shades of pink!!! :p And I'm now going down the big waterslide at the pool!!! :-d

Happy weekend, all!

OneWanderingJew Aug 14th, 2005 06:01 AM

Ahhh, Bonnie! I can just hear the fun you guys are having! Enjoy yourself--and remember your nailpolish remover ;)

Patriotism is not the same as blind loyalty. One involves caring what happens to one's country; one is what lemmings do.
