Rave: we're not afraid. Take that bad guys.

Friends having a cookout/bbq this weekend. Should be fun and hope to see some people I haven't seen in a while.

By the way, does anyone know what this smiley is:

((M)) is it badminton shuttlecocks or teepees or something else?

No rants this week.

Congrats to all who had success in the past week, and hugs to all who need them.

Statia Jul 15th, 2005 07:29 AM

margot, congrats on your new pup! I also have to agree that seeing Carole King live is just awesome.

swalter, congrats on the ultrasound. How exciting! I, too, am going to Italy in October and wasn't thrilled with your news but it won't stop me from going, either.

Rave: A fabulous long weekend in St. Martin with DH's visiting daughter. We had a blast! :D

Rant: After a month with us, DSD is now back home and we probably won't see her again until next summer. :(

Rave: DH and I will both be off work this weekend, which is rare.

Rave: Hurricane Emily didn't affect us much since we only got the outer bands.

Rant: Hurricane Emily's impact on the poor people of Grenada who are still recovering from Ivan last year, along with anyone else in her path.

Have a wonderful weekend my Fodorite friends! :)

Rant: It is HOT, HOT, HOT!!! 103 today.

Rant: My little Sadie dog is really starting to show her age. She's the last one so thinking I need to start looking for another. It helps to have another little warm body when you loose one.

Rave: My vegetable garden is really starting to take off..corn is as high as an elephant's eye....

Rave: If the stars align I will visit my neice in Copenhagen next year, with her parents of course...she's the "Princess" from the berry picking thread..(: Am trying to figure out how to combine that with a Paris stop somehow...hmmmmmm.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Greetings dear Fodorites!

~Margot, a great big welcome to Quincy, Quinc my man, you are one lucky dog ((&))
And Carole King, I would have LOVED to have been there!

~Ethel, God Bless the pet sitters, I just dropped my little Sophie off at the kennel and even though it is a good one and she'll have so much fun, I actually got tears in my eyes, I'm pathetic. The whole way out I had to say to myself, she'll be fine, she's a dog, she'll be fine, she's a dog. I wish I had a pet sitter like YOU!

jersey, hope you DD is ok very soon!

swalter, VERY glad that you ultrasound went well, great news!

Rave ~ 38th birthday was this week and my 20th year reunion is this weekend, we leave in a couple hours. May we all get better, wiser, and more happy with each passing year!

Rave ~ Happy, kind, people with great attitudes!

Rave ~ My incredible husband ((L))

Rave ~ Surprised said hubby with a golf long weekend to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - quick non-stop flight, yeah!

No rants today.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I wish you peace and happiness!

Rave: Great weather.

Rant: Continuing decline in the value of the USD v. MXP (10.5 @ cambios this AM).

Rant: Rove's treatment by the Dems - facts be d....ed. We shall see.

Rant: William Renquist's decision.

Buen fin de semana.

Statia, Your wonderful reviews of Venice really influenced our location choice! You also have a trip as wonderful as your last!
Margot-congrats on Quincy! What a heart stealer a new puppy is!

kywood1955 Jul 15th, 2005 07:42 AM

Rant: HOT! Mid and upper 90's for almost two weeks (that's hot for Colorado)

Rave: Just booked flight on EVA Airways to Thailand for 50th birthday! Hoooorrrraaaaayyyyy!

Statia Jul 15th, 2005 07:47 AM

Glad to be of help, swalter.

Happy birthday, Tiff!

seetheworld Jul 15th, 2005 07:52 AM

Happy Birthday Tiff! Have a great time!

Bonnie -- 3 weeks with your granddaughter :D What fun for the both of you!

Italy! My dear friend's daughter and new husband are leaving tonight for a 2 week honeymoon in Italy :) I'm so happy for them.

OneWanderingJew Jul 15th, 2005 07:52 AM

SWalter--congrats. U/S can be exciting and reassuring

Margo--Enjoy your baby, Quincy

Jersey--Wishing your daughter a quick recovery!

Rant: The stress of our move caused our cat to develop a very serious liver disease. We are feeding her every other hour through a tube.

Rave: The vet thinks she can recover with time, treatment and lots of TLC.

Rave: I'm off for the summer so I can devote myself to getting her well.

Rave: The painters finished and our house and now it looks like a home! I love my house!!

Rave: We bought a new bed. What a difference! It's so comfy I could lay in bed all day ;-)

Rant: It won't quit raining here. Pretty soon we'll own waterfront property and will be sending trip reports from our brand-new ark.

Wishing everyone good weather, good friends and good times this weekend!

OneWanderingJew Jul 15th, 2005 07:56 AM

Happy, happy birthday, Tiff and have fun at the reunion. ((^))

Vicky Jul 15th, 2005 08:17 AM

Rave - Interview tomorrow for a nice job short distance from home (rather than a 1 hr commute 2x a day). Wish me luck!
Rave - another week and I might be through the 2 month Project From Hell at work
Rant - the 2 month Project from Hell
Rave - 2 more months till my trip to Carmel/Monterey/Big Sur
Rant - Kitties are almost 16 years old. Can't imagine life without them. I will want to get another but traveling makes it so hard - I worry about them all the time I'm away even though I trust their caregivers - it's this emotional thing, thinking, "they'll die without mom."

jorr Jul 15th, 2005 08:19 AM

I forgot a Rant to go along with my Rave:
The house paint alone is going to cost about $600!

BuffaloGirl Jul 15th, 2005 08:34 AM

RAVE: Buffalo's Italian festival!!!!!!! It's in my neighborhood, so I can walk to it.

RAVE: Frankie Avalon performed last night. I just wanted to hear him sing "Beauty School Dropout" from Grease, which he did. It was a great show (and free). He does not look his age at all. (I like him cuz he remindes me of a much older version of my 1st love)!

RAVE: I'm going back tonight for some sawseech with peppers and onions, cannolli, lemon ice, and cookies (oink, moo)!!!

A RAVE and RANT: The weather! We've had a few weeks of 90+ weather (that part's OK) and extremely high humidity (bad - I only have AC in the bedrooms)!

RAVE: I'm planning a trip to NYC for October!!!!

RANT: A lightning strike fried a brand new television in my house Wednesday!

Have a great weekend everyone!

jorr Jul 15th, 2005 08:42 AM

BuffaloGirl, if you are a home owner don't file a claim for the TV. Just three minor claims will cause your payment premium to rise.

BuffaloGirl Jul 15th, 2005 08:52 AM

Thanks, jorr. Anyhow, I think my deductible is more than the cost of a new tv.

michelleNYC Jul 15th, 2005 09:02 AM

Rant: New house + moving + wedding in two weeks + parents visiting + extremely stressful job = MASSIVE exhaustion. I'm starting to understand that whole "Runaway Bride" thing... ;)

Rave: It's Friday and tomorrow I can sleep until a whopping 8:00am...

Tiff Jul 15th, 2005 09:14 AM

Thanks everyone for the kind birthday wishes!

:)>-

michelleNYC Jul 15th, 2005 09:17 AM

By the way... happy birthday, Tiff and happy reunion! My 20yr HS reunion is this weekend also (on L.I.) but I'm just way too wiped to go... :(

mm Jul 15th, 2005 09:22 AM
