Thank you for all the good thoughts for my daughter. She has turned a corner and is mending rapidly. (Oh, to heal like a 15 year old!) Apparently, there is a very odd virus that is going around our town. It is affecting only a very small population of 15-20 year olds so far. My daughter was the 5th case seen. Fortunately or unfortunatly as the case may be, the first kid diagnosed is the child of an infectious disease specialest. That kid was tested for every thing under the sun except a lumbar puncture. It turns out that the high fevers (104) just have to run their course and they make a recovery after a week or so. Thank God! It is so frightening to have a loved one so very ill.
Again, thank you for your prayers, I know God hears. And my I sent good wishes to the others who are having problems this week. God Bless. |
Jersey, what a relief to hear that your daughter is on the mend! It's amazing what kids can pick up, isn't it?! Thanks for letting us know :) Have a restful Sunday :)

Great news, jersey. :-)
Wow, starrsville, I've heard of people living to be 100+ years old, but I've never met a centurion!! It's great that she's still with you and enjoying life. I wish my grandparents could have lived that long, but it wasn't meant to be. OWJ, I truly hope we will meet at a GTG someday. Actually, that sentiment goes out to everyone on the FFRR's!! |
Very glad to hear your news, Jersey!
|
Jersey--That is great news! Well, not that she is sick...but at least you know what it is and it will be gone shortly.
|
mms, how's the trampoline going? No rants so far?!?
I have to post a camping report -- caught some type of "bug" on the trip which has slowed me down. |
seetheworld--no, no rants yet! The trampoline is great fun for the kids...AND me, lol! I can even do a flip on it! I am sure my neighbors are wondering about me though:D I can't wait to read about your camping. We are off to SunRiver Resort for the week, so no camping or backbacking, but at least we get to hike.
|
P_M, she the oldest in the nursing home - but looks a decade or two younger. She's a true testament to staying out of the sun :-) There are 4 residents over 100.
She takes 4 pills a day - a heart pill, a baby aspirin, a multivitamin and a Vit E capsule. That's it. Her pacemaker battery ran out years ago. As good as she looks and eats and just "is", she'll probably be here for her 105th as well! |
Excellent news Jersey!
I wish only the best of health and life to my Fodor's friends. |
Phew, Jersey! Glad to hear it wasn't more serious!
Starrs--We should all be so sassy and healthy at 90, much less 104. Your grandmother must be a woman w/some great stories :) Thanks for the good wishes for Shayna the cat--she needs 'em. And MMS...No hogging that trampoline... Hehe |
mms, THAT FLIP, we'll want a picture of! :p Can't wait ...;;)
Scarlett, congratulations on your wonderful new home. Hope you will have many, many happy and healthy years in it! ((f)) starrsville, how lovely .... your grandmother doing so well! :-) What a blessing for your family! Jersey, that is great news about your daughter. Nothing is as scary as a very sick child ... each and every time, for a mother! :-( So happy she is mending quickly ... My DGD does that ... runs an atrocious fever, then is bouncing around the next day! =-O Hope everyone's weekend is going wonderfully! :-) |
Bonnie, thanks for your comment about my DS! The time is getting closer, 3 weeks, and he is on his own. Reality is that I've raised an independent man and I am pleased but sad at the same time ((l)) Who would have thought it would be this hard?!?! I certainly didn't! Although I certainly do not wish to rush things, it's nice to hear how special it is to grandparent. But in the meantime, I'll just visit bearing gifts of food :D
|
Jersey, glad to hear your DD will be well soon.
OWJ, I know what it's like to have a sick cat. My thoughts with you and her. Not too long ago my baby cat was sick too...$$$$ at the vet later he's all better except for special diet cat food. Good thing he's such a sweetie. He decided to "help" me with my home improvement projects today, laying right up against freshly painted trim not once, but twice! Really fun getting white paint off a black cat! Trish |
Bonniebroad--Unfortunately, there is video evidence of the flip, lol! DH brought out the little digital camera and had the short video clip going and I didn't know it! I have not watched it yet, lol!

RANT: Banned from the internet at work for "personal use" so I'm still trying to keep up at night & on weekends. It's just not the same! I've got too many trips to plan to be away so much!
RANT: Chicago trip is canceled. My friend broke her ankle & will just be getting out of her cast. Didn't seem worth it to go with her not being 100%. Oh well... Wrigley will be there next year. It BETTER be anyway or I told her I'll break the other one! RAVE: No hurricanes in our area... yet. Well, nothing too bad. Only little Cindy came through Grand Isle - our weekend getaway - with little damage. RAVE: Going to Indian Rocks Beach, FL next weekend for a family trip - haven't seen my mom in a year!!! Hoping the red tide doesn't keep us off the beach... (that may be a rant next week) OWJ: I assume Shayna has fatty liver disease? Cat went through that about 7 years ago and is back to her fat, happy self. She was down to 8 lbs (started at 13) & is now 17 lbs! It was a few months of trying times (and LOTS of $$$$$), but she's still alive & kicking at 12 yrs old so it was worth all of it! Just be sure to keep her regular food out for her. Cat just walked into the kitchen one day and started munching on her regular cheap dry food after me trying to entice her with "the good wet stuff" for weeks. Good Luck! |
mms, watch out or you might end up on America's Funniest or whatever that show is called, lol!
Have a great vacation with your family :D |
NOLady--Fatty Liver Disease is exactly what Shayna has!! Thank you so much for sharing your story b/c I need to hear positives. She's just so sick right now...Like you, I'm trying to entice her w/stinky Fancy Feast canned food that the vet said cats love. This sick kitty has no interest so we will feed her through her port til she decides to eat on her own.
Was it *months* til your cat ate or til she was 100%? (Not that it matters. We will do what needs to be done...and have already spent $1k...) Thanks for sharing. OWJ |
OWJ-
It's been a few years like I said, but I think it was probably a month, maybe 6 weeks - though it seemed like FOREVER. :(( I worked 30 min from home & could not feed her the 3-4 times/day so I would drop her off at the vet in the mornings & pick her up when I got off of work. I think that was for about 2 weeks. Just leave her normal food out & she will eat when she is ready. I read stories of cats taking 6 months or so to recover fully, but hopefully that will not happen to you. The $1k won't mean anything when you see Shayne lying on her back staring at you upside down like Cat is doing right now. ((@)) I just hope, for your sake, that she doesn't pull the tube out... GROSS. I came home with a friend one day & didn't really notice it was gone until I saw it on the floor in the kitchen. Ugh. On a Sunday... when the vet was closed... guess how much THAT cost!?!?! Though, by then, they were all in love with her and I think were giving me a break because I cried every time I went! I hope all goes well. Just give Shayna the lovin' she needs & she'll be better soon! |
