Hi BuffaloGirl, that is a scary story! We just had a warning in Vacaville CA some fellow was motioning women drivers to pull over and showing a badge. Fortunatly all the women had enough sense to not unlock their car doors and took off and called the PD.
I am glad you dad is alright but what a stressful situation for all of you.

Buffalogirl,

I'm so glad they didn't hurt your father. But still, that was really nasty. He must feel so used.

My parents are still in the old neighborhood and it has lots of "events". But my Dad isn't shy about going out and telling kids (18, 19 yrs old too) to get out of the alley etc. I'm scared that he is going to get hurt, because he won't ever let anything go that he "sees" as trouble either. He even put himself between a boy harassing a girl last summer out in front by his park.

People who steal, cheat, rob and injure others really need to have a real consequence of their actions. Most of the time, they do not.

I know it's past midnight on Sunday! But I'm hoping everyone will overlook that!

So many kind Fodorites have asked whether we'd heard anything. I thought this would be the best way to let everyone know.

The bad news (and, in some ways, also the good news), is that it's stage 4 Hodgkins. The stage 4 part certainly isn't good. But everything we've heard and read indicates that Hodgkins is better than non-Hodgkins.

My husband and I are meeting with the doctor tomorrow morning. So we'll know more then. But he assured my husband that it's a very treatable disease.

Please continue to pray for us. And, again, thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and words.

starrsville Jun 20th, 2005 05:42 PM

Thanks for letting us know. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you and your family. At least he knows what he is dealing with. For me not knowing can be more scary. I wish peace for both of you.

CAPH52 Jun 20th, 2005 05:47 PM

You're absolutely right, starrsville. Now we can move forward, start treatment, etc. I know we've got some rough times ahead. But at least we're out of that limbo we've been in the past week and a half.

Dear CAPH52,

My thoughts are prayers are with you, your dear husband and children. Be tough, be strong, and know that you are thought of by many.

CAPH52,
Thank you for letting us know.
It is very treatable, we have a cousin diagnosed years with it and he is living and laughing in Argentina!
So take heart, be strong and know that many thoughts are with you both and you will be posting here lots of good news in the future.
Big big hugs, Scarlett

sorry, I didn't preview.
We have a cousin, diagnosed years ago with it and he is living and laughing in Argentina!

Thanks, seetheworld and Scarlett. It's always good to hear those survivor stories, Scarlett!

CAPH52,
Thanks for taking a minute to let us know what's going on. As you can see, lots of you are thinking about you and your husband.

Now that you know what you're dealing with--go attack those dang evil cells and then plan a trip so we can all chime in and tell you guys what to pack and how to best get there :)

Duh! That should read lots of US are thinking about you...might help if I proofread before clicking post instead of afterwards.

CAPH52 Jun 20th, 2005 06:55 PM

Funny you should say that, OWJ, from the very first day, my son has been saying, "As soon as this is all over and Dad's okay, we're going to take a really great vacation together"! I'll be very happy to let all of you chime in!
