Aww, gyppie, I like those little guys, they are all over our house and patio!
They try to get into the house which is no end of fun, trying to catch a frantic lizard without squishing it, while a deliriously happy large dog tries to help, while the Man of the house stands there and gives directions..( just grab the damn thing and throw it out)..I have gotten really good at grabbing Gekkos and tossing them with no long lasting after effects ( on the gekko)..but some gekkos really don't deserve hugs..just tossing.

CAPH52, I also hope the news you and your DH receive is good -- hang in there!!

mms, how are the kids doing on their trampoline -- I can picture it now, little "mms" flying through the air, lol! Your little guy is in my prayers!

Margot, big hugs to you!

P_M, I'm blushing...okay maybe it's heat rash, hang in there. The DH came home and after I fill him with a drink or two this weekend, I'll pick his brain :D

Buffalogirl, that's just horrible! So glad you dad wasn't hurt.

Happy belated birthday Sam!

Tiff :D

Bonnie, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping the red tide doesn't affect you on your vacation!

Rant: I thought today was Saturday!

Rave: I just found out from the "dreaming of Fodorites" thread that today is Friday, LOL.

Rant: I am a mess if I don't know what day of the week it is.

Rave: I have "gained" an extra day in my life.

Raves:

Tomorrow is our 45th anniversary.

Weleave for Glacier NP and Canadian Rockies four weeks from today.

Just spent two days in TN with former shipmates reliving the time we spent in Korea in '53 and the subsequent around the world cruise. Hard to believe we were as young then as todays youth who are being killed in Iraq.

Marilyn Jun 17th, 2005 04:56 PM

Rave: We rented a house at Stinson Beach last weekend to celebrate Phil Flash's Big Birthday, and it was even more wonderful than it looked on line. (How often does that happen?)Ten of our dearest friends joined us for a house party and everything was just perfect!

Rave: We are going to India in December. Oh boy, a new country we've never been to before!

Rant: Too much illness on this thread. I don't like it one bit, do you hear me? More than anything, I wish you all good health, for you and your loved ones (including the critters), and the strength to get through whatever trials lie ahead.

Happy Father's Day to all!

ElendilPickle Jun 17th, 2005 08:42 PM

It's still Friday in New Mexico... :-)

>>Rave: Richard Lamm's comments made in a speach 18 months ago.<<

Ryan, what did he say?

Rave: VBS is over and I survived five evenings with a bunch of toddlers and babies!

Rave: They were a fun bunch overall.

Rave: Daisy the puppy is settling in and starting to learn the house rules.

Rant/Rave: My youngest child is 9, and I'd forgotten how much work toddlers can be - a thought which is being reinforced while training Daisy. :-)

Praying for all of you facing difficulties.

Rave: Met a fun fodorite for lunch the other day. Thanks, Starrsville! (Atlswan, hope to meet you too some time soon)

Bellairegirl--Your Tulane meets my OSU today. Very exciting times!

Byrd Jun 18th, 2005 07:06 AM

Melissa HI--

LOL about being called "Ma'am" for the first time!

If you think that makes for a bad day, wait until you're asked if you want the Senior Citizen's discount!

Byrd

CAPH52 Jun 18th, 2005 07:42 AM

I know what you're talking about, Byrd. My son and I had lunch out yesterday. When the check came, I was quite surprised to see she'd given me the senior discount. She hadn't even felt the need to ask! I've convinced myself that their discount must start at 50!

MelissaHI Jun 18th, 2005 10:54 AM

ha ha! i've heard about the senior discount thing. Actually, this was not my first time being called "ma'am" but I got it a LOT this week.

There is a clerk at Safeway who cards everyone buying alcohol, no matter how old they look. I told him I'm going to stand in his line every time.

Byrd Jun 18th, 2005 12:13 PM

LOL Last year we were at a restaurant in the Atlanta airport and ordered a sandwich and beer. The guy asked for my id card!

I laughed and offered him my Medicare card. He let me have the beer.

RAVE: The oldest son received notification that he won the lottery to run the 2005 NYC Marathon!

It will be his second year in a row :D

I know it's not Friday anymore but -

Rave: Great call with a customer - you know, just crossing paths with an interesting enjoyable human being.

Rave: The call took me to within a few miles of my brother's new house. Stopped by to visit since he was home after surgery. Got to see the whole family, including canines and felines and human kids. What an unexpected treat!

Rave: Nephew had to leave for work before I arrived. SIL said he was sorry he missed me. Right. 16 year old sorry to miss visit with aunt. Phone call a few minutes after arrival. Work was slow so he was coming home to visit with aunt! I was amazed.

Rave: Spent last Friday with sister recovering from surgery. Is something wrong with our world that it takes surgery for us to slow down and do what folks did years ago? Go VISITING! :-)

Rave: Great lunch and delightful visit with another Fodorite. Continuation of wedding gift thread with owner of Italian restaurant. A bit bizarre continuing a cybertopic face-to-face, but results were the same.

Rave: REALLY enjoyed this forum this week. Meanness and trolling seem to be at all time low levels.

Rave: 81 and 76 year old parents had a wonderful road trip. It's great they are so vital and engaged in life.

Rave: Planning solo trip (with help from this board) and TX friend calls and wants to meet up somewhere fun this summer. One, maybe two, unexpected trips this summer.

Rave: May get to meet another Fodorite if my travels take me to SF!

Rave: "A Perfect Man" was a really cute movie.

Rave: Lightning bugs and frogs providing audio and visual to evening walk. Ciglechanta, I think your cousins are beginning their songs now as well! :-)

Rant: Can't think of one. REALLY good Electric Limeade tonight!

Peace, all!

BuffaloGirl Jun 19th, 2005 04:23 PM

Thanks Seetheworld and OWJ!

OWJ, they told my dad that they were investigating a murder. Anyhow, while the male kept my father in the kitchen with "questioning," the female said she was going back to the car (meaning, she went through drawers), then came back into the kitchen to say they had a "new lead" and they both left.

Seven years ago I finally talked my parents into moving from the ghetto to a better neighborhood. There is no safe neighborhood. Nothing surprises me anymore.
