Rant: Terrible week in the news. Possible drilling in Alaska makes me sick. Multiple homicides. A woman in Las Vegas murdered 4 people standing at a bus stop with her SUV and it looks as though she won't serve a day in jail. They say she had a reaction to her medication.
Rave: Justice in the much mentioned Scott Peterson case Rant: Does anyone know what a scumbag Terri Schiavo's husband is? He wanted her kept alive so he could sue her doctors (which he received 1.3 million)but now that's over he wants her dead. I won't discuss whether keeping her alive or not is correct but I believe than man is a real lowlife. Rave: My dad ((l)) Rave: Weather's getting warmer ((#)) Rave: Dinner and movies this this weekend:D |
Rave-Brother's surgery is over and it went well. He had a meningnoma and had it removed at THE Cleveland Clinic. What a great hospital!!! I am so happy!
Have a great weekend everyone! And thanks for your thoughts and prayers. :-) |
buckeyemom,
Now THAT'S good news!!!!! |
travelinwifey - Since you seem to know so much about Michael Schiavo, what benefit does he have to wanting her dead? He has been offered MILLIONS by various individuals/organizations to let her live but has turned it all down. If he wanted to wash his hands of it, he could relinquish rights to her parents and move on. Why would he fight this battle to let her die if he didn't believe it was what she wanted. I'm not saying if she should live or die, but to call the man a scumbag is sickening.
|
Snowrooster I have absolutely no desire to bicker with you. This is Freaky Friday rants and raves and if I want to rant I will. You made your own point. Why won't he relinquish rights to her parents? The benefit of wanting her dead is to collect the money left over in the sttlement which he is willed to upon her death. BTW, some reports have the settlement as high as 12 million. Do you think Terry Schiavo's doctors wanted to leave a patient brain damaged on purpose? Mr. Schiavo saw an opportunity to sue and took it. Now kindly bugger off and leave me alone.
|
BTW, in case you didn't know, he wanted her alive for the court proceedings.
|
Mikemo--If you are referring to me about antibiotics, let me assure you that I know they are not helpful for a virus and I am aware of the dangers of overuse. More importantly, you personally have not seen me nor diagnosed me, and therefore I will continue to listen to my doctor.
|
travelinwifey - Amazing the way you are able to read Michael Schiavo's mind. I don't suppose there is ANY possibility he actually is trying to do what he feels his wife would have wanted? So sad to always assume the worst about someone.
If you don't care to debate, don't respond (or "bugger off" as you so eloquently stated). |
Ditto again, mms.
Mikemo - when I saw the doctor and he offered an antibiotic I voiced my concern about taking antibiotics when they are not necessary. My DOCTOR acknowledged my concern (very graciously) but offered the RX anyway and left the decsision to me. I can't tell you how grateful I was to have that Rx filled less than 24 hours later. This is the first time I've had the time to read the FFR&R's - since I've basically been flat on my back all week. Are you usually this obnoxious or was today just a special treat? |
Starrsville--Glad you are feeling better. It is nice to be on the mend after feeling so miserable.

Mikemo - Re: Lipitor. The active ingredient in Lipitor is made in Ireland by Pfizer Ireland, and it's likely transferred to one of several sites for drug product manufacture, with Puerto Rico likely being the major plant for the US market. This is common in the industry (which is a huge employer in Puerto Rico), hence the two addresses make sense.
Re: Lipitor "made in" New Zealand. Very interesting, given Pfizer has no active ingredient or drug product plant in New Zealand. I would guess that it's either 1) fake 2) being legitimately imported into NZ under NZ price controls and then shipped right back out of country, in which case I'd be quite curious about its stability given that there's probably not much temperature control on its trip back out to the internet pharmacy or 3) manufactured by a country that regards Intellectual Property law as a joke. I apologize to those wanting to keep to the spirit of FFR'N'R - just trying to straighten out facts. Have a great weekend, all! And Happy Birthday to those celebrating! |
Actually, according to the pediatrician our kids saw when they were little, bronchitus can be either viral or bacterial. And, of course, if it's bacterial, antibiotics would be effective.
|
Oh, and if it's 3), it's also therefore 1).
|
Rave: The kindness of fodorites. Thanks for the the generous offer, starrsville, perhaps i''l check out B & N this weekend. AL |
Having had two close loved ones where a difficult decision was made to "pull the plug", I will NEVER pretend to know what is in the mind of another person who must make that decision. But I do know it is a very difficult decision to make and to suggest that someone makes that decision based on money is not only unjust but totally unfounded.
For what it is worth, the court appointed doctors all agree that no sound or movement made by Terry Schiavo indicated that they were made by decision or that any had any relation to brain thoughts or patterns. I understand parents not wanting to give up their little girl, but to insist that her random mumblings or head jerks are meaningful attempts to speak their names is obviously just wishful thinking on their part -- according to the doctors. And while we're talking about what's in the mind of other people. Who is the one to determine that Terry's wishes would have been to kept alive with no hope in the world of recovery or to be let go under those same circumstances. My guess is (and yes, it's just a guess) that her husband would have a better handle on such personal wishes and thoughts as her parents. The bottom line of all this of course, is to have a living will. There is no excuse to put loved ones through this kind of agony. |
You people are bringing me down... time to get out in the SUNSHINE for a little vitamin D therapy!!!
And later, chocolate, wine, bubble baths and fashion magazines for all. Have the best weekend possible! |
Well said, Patrick.

Well said, Patrick.
The subject came up at dinner last night with my parents. Given that we are always on the opposite side of politics and most sensitive topics I braced myself and vowed to keep my mouth shut. Amazingly, the opinions they shared matched my own. As I clarified my preference (and I do have a living will) they shared that they have living wills as well. Good counsel. Put your wishes in a a legally binding (one will hope) document. |
Well said, Patrick.
Patrick, is anything being done (can anything be done) to alleviate the traffic in Naples? |
