That's right, suze....Seattle is utterly miserable, it rains literally all the time, AND you end up using one of those SAD lamps or on meds so as not to end up totally depressed. Save yourself - Don't move there!

because Suze, it has one of the highest gross individual incomes in the U.S., how else could one expect to pay the median home price in Seattle of $700k? Just look at all the major corporations that have offices there, mainly microsoft for starters.

yeah that is true. if you got a masters degree in anything tech related, seattle is the place to be. you could work other places if you didnt mind getting paid less money for the same job title i suppose.

The only thing saving the PNW from the masses to our south is the weather. May it be grey all year round! And, if anyone thinks I'm being unfair, take a little trip to LA. California used to be beautiful. Now it's been raped, plundered and pillaged. The only thing left is a pretty sunset. (Unless you're rich, of course, and can afford a house that will come sliding down a hill in the rain.) That's all I have to say about that!

Personally, I found the gloom and cold more depressing in Seattle than the rain.

you have to applaud Orca's post, he really knows a lot about southern cali lifestyle...albeit, The Calif Dept of Tourism doesnt find his remarks so appealing.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I can't thank you enough for giving it straight with no chaser, no promotional language, no excuses. I'd heard conflicting reports on Seattle's weather for years and no one seemed to really know even though they lived there. Very strange indeed. Thanks to you, we now hear it from a person who lives there.

BTW Klassy, suze and many others who responded DO live there. Always nice to have a poster thank another poster in their very first post, though.

But Orcas, you forgot one thing. The reason for the pretty sunsets is the smog. ;-)

My wife and I lived in Tacoma for a year in the early 80's. Moved there in August and for a couple of months wondered what all the fuss was about. Then came November and it rained and rained and rained some more, by the time the sun came out in July, we had had enough, we moved back to the dry (East) side of Washington.

I admire the hardy souls that can deal with it, I cannot.

I will say however, when the weather is nice, there isn't a more beautiful place that the Puget Sound region.

Now if they could just do something witht he traffic.
