topping

Our flag is out every day but thanks for the reminder matnikstym.

I remember in the days after 9/11 seeing flags on the houses and on cars. It was sad but there was the joy in that we united as a country. Strangers greeted each other on the street, we waved at others with flags. White, Black and Hispanic - Christian, Atheists or Jewish, we saw each other only as fellow Americans.
I live in San Diego and the cars from Front B.C Mexico were showing flags. The terrorist showed us who we are deep down as a country.
It reminded me then as it does now, "what you meant for evil, Spirit meant for good."

My husband and I were just talking about this and our flag is flying but we want to do more. We've decided to help clean up a public space today, in a way to make America a better place. Well, at least a tidier place.

I put my flag out this morning. We had some cloud bursts yesterday and I had put it inside.

As luck would have it, my youngest son had forgotten a math paper, and I ran to the school to deliver it.

When I returned home, my neighbor, a police officer, was leaving for work. He waved and pointed at our flag over the garage.

I'm glad he wanted to let me know how he felt. He is a veteran and usually has a flag out on holidays, but I notice he didn't have it out today. I don't know his reason, but it meant something to him that ours was on display.

Just wanted to share. J.

Unless I'm out of town, my flag flies every day. Since It is not lit at night I also take it in every night. Flag protocol!

I was the first one on my street to put out my flag on 9/11, before any one else in my neighborhood thought of it.
Today, I couldn't bring myself to do it. The shame I feel about my president and the false war he's taken us into has stolen away the pride I used to feel in that flag. I saw others' flags and felt badly, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it...

Can we please leave the politics out of this?

My DH purchased a new flag this weekend, to replace the torn one. Our flag flies most of the time, and is lit at night. Now living in Oregon, the rain is the only problem. I hate taking it down...but am glad that at least when we have to do that our children know how to handle it and do it properly.
