East Coast Weather Sucks!
This weather on the east coast sucks! I'm in the deep south and it is pouring and temps are in the upper 40s. I hate this. At least we are not going to have a freeze.
|
Bad News: About the same in NoCal and rain expected for the Calif Int Marathon this Sunday.:'(
Good News: The Gino's East pizza's I ordered just arrived and we'll be "firing one up" tonight! ((B)) |
I know what you mean. Here in Naples a couple fluffy white clouds just started obscuring the sun a while ago. It is currently 82, but they say it may drop to the upper 60's tonight!
|
It's raining here in North Georgia...with predictions of sleet and snow flurries on Saturday.
Hey, GoTravel...guess I will just have to dream of going to warm sunny Hawaii...if only I had the money!!! |
Thats not very nice of you Patrick! Here in Charlotte it is in the 30's with a cold, cold rain. A year ago we had THE ice storm. I'm thankful its nothing like that. I didn't have power for 2 days then.
I'm also thankful that on Saturday I'm headed to Vieques where it is nice and warm!!! |
You need to spend one -- just one -- winter in Nebraska.
|
Dog pile on Patrick!!!! Northern CA is low 50s and raining and my car is parked in the outer limits with the umbrella under the back seat!!!!
|
Not as bad here (Durham, NC) as Charlotte, but it is raining and cold and yucky. My boss took today off because she was concerned about the weather (?)
Patrick, do you have a spare room to rent? |
Well, we have a winter storm warning in effect here in Maryland. Rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow all coming our way, with 2 to 4 inches of accumulation expected. Here comes another messy winter!
|
Ok... come on up to NYC. Talk about ick this weekend.
|
Ugh. Just watched the weather forcast on The Weather Channel and there is another winter storm expected to piggy back on this one.
No thanks about Nebraska. I'm going to South Florida tomorrow or Saturday. |
No thank you, K_9 - Nebraska winters I would not want to try! I've already had my share of winters having lived in Minneapolis and Central PA.
I've actually been considering moving further south lately. Now that winter weather is here I'm thinking about it more and more. Before I moved to Charlotte several people told me that winters here were nothing and if we did get snow (which was supposedly rare) it was gone by noon. Now that may have been true my first year here, but in the past 4 it seems like it gets worse and worse! Has anyone else noticed that? |
Sorry to hear about the sucky weather out east (and up north here in CA). Although the weather is actually kinda nice here in southern CA (daytime highs in the low 70s, nighttime lows in the upper 40s-low 50s-- good for cuddling!), a little rain would actually be appreciated (cleans the air, washes off the sidewalks). But not a lot of rain-- no one knows how to drive in the wet stuff, and those fires left a lot of hillsides ready to melt into mudslides. Hopefully a little shower or two may slide down from the Bay Area.... :)
|
Well, the chicken is roasting in the oven, there is plenty of firewood, and I got extra tape for the packing boxes so Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow~ :D
Then I will drive to Flaaarda~ |
Raht in front of ya Miz Scahlet on ma way to Flaarda!
|
Greeaattt! Tropical Storm in the middle of the caribbean. I'm sure it will hit Florida just in time for my arrival.
I'm done with Mother Nature. |
Yeah, let's kick Mother Nature out!
|
rjw, I think we're supposed to get a little rain on Sunday. I sooo sympathize about cold weather, here in San Diego today the high was 63 -according to my "Weatherbug". In two weeks I'll be off to really cold weather in London and Edinburgh, though!
|
Asheville, NC -- Currently 33 degrees, and the ground is covered with slush, because it snowed last night, then got covered with ice, and it's been raining ever since. Some rain and freezing rain is expected tonight, with snow by the weekend.
It's cold, slushy, rainy, and blah! |
49 with rain and high winds in the Seattle area. I think windstorms are actually kind of fun though.
63 degrees sounds darn good to me Barbara. I get very uncomfortable when temps hit the mid-70s, so I think that temps in the 60s are perfection. I understand where you're coming from though. We moved to Seattle from Charleston when I was a kid. It was 75 the day that we arrived and coming from 90+ degree South Carolina heat, that *was* cold. :) My company owns a subsidiary in Alaska and when the employees there come down here in the winter months, they wear shorts outside when it's in the 30s. It's funny how "hot" and "cold" are so relative. |
No need to give a report from Portland, OR as I'm sure y'all know what's happening here.... for the next 4-5 months.
|
BBum-Yes. Another Jailblazer arrested and then traded? #-O
I just heard a Master Card debit card commercial: "Tan lines in January: PRICELESS". Raining and gloomy on the outside but always ((#))B-)((R)):-X on the inside! |
Here I am in Tucson, the sun is shining, the temps are in the 70's, no rain in sight. This is why we put up with the hot summers, so we can have beautiful falls and winters.
|
I spent a week in Nebraska last winter - that was enough for me.
The weather isn't bad here in the Bay Area. A little rain, a little wind, a little chilly - it IS wintertime afterall. |
Not only is it cold and clammy and drizzling and dank outside but I haven't had a working furnace in 2 days. They have to overnight the part from Pittsburgh, they say. Uh huh. Bought a space-heater and have every light in the house on -- amazing how much heat the lights generate. But I'm still COLD. Timing is everything -- a year ago we not only had no heat but no light or power -- and that for a week. So I guess I'm grateful we aren't freezing in the dark. But DH and some other fanatics think they're going to watch the NCAA women's soccer finals in this weather. Arghh.
|
I ditto Patricks weather. BUT I miss winter BIG TIME. We were in Boston 3 weeks ago and I was all teary eyed at the kids skating on the Frog Pond! I may get flamed for saying this, but sometimes SW FLA's weather is sooooo boring(me originally from PA). There is supposed to have a high of mid sixtys this weekend, maybe I can finally wear some FALL type clothes again. I want to go to a ski resort so I can have an "ideal" winter, and I don't even ski! No, I am not being facetious, I am serious! Anyone from the snowy west want to home exchange? From the "grass is always greener" camp, Judy
|
An Austrian couple once told me, there's never bad weather, only bad clothes. ((b))
|
Here in New Jersey they are forecasting 6 inches of snow over the next two days. I will gladly trade with anyone in Florida. Patrick, if a middle aged red head shows up at your door looking forlorn and cold. Please let me in.
|
Wow, the weather in Buffalo is pretty good right now....cold (but not freezing) because of all the sunshine we're having. It will be close to 50 next week, which is very warm for December. Actually, this is when I want it to SNOW - after all, it's Christmas time. By February I will be cursing the snow!!!
|
They say it's snowing in NJ and the storm's heading this way to Maine. Looks like we'll be getting the generator out again.
|
It took me 4.5 hours to get to work on Tuesday - all because of a quickie snow flurry that hit the Boston area and caused 300 separate car accidents. FOUR AND A HALF HOURS!!!!!!While thousands were stuck going no where because the roads were not sanded, the snow plow operators were protesting at the State House because they don't want GSP installed in their vehicles. Heaven forbid someone should make anyone in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts accountable. Hey I know they work hard and the govenrment takes forever to pay them but come on....
And the weather prognosticators are telling us that there is 12 inches or more on its way up here for the weekend. So yeah - East Coast Weather ain't looking too good to me right now. Its going to be a long long winter. |
Anyone know if it is snowing in Phily yet? I plan on flying out of Boston on Saturday, only worried about delays in Phily.
|
Doc - according to the radarmap at Accuweather.com its looks like its snowing in Philly. But what do I know sitting here in Boston.
|
Bennie..How bout them PATS? I think I could get used to this.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping it's nmot as bad on the coast. |
There are going to be some darn cold fish in Foxboro this Sunday. The weather will definately give the Pats an edge but you never know what can happen if its still snowing. But you've got to like our chances.
Good luck with your flight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can get to the Lowell Auditorium to see the Irish Tenors. Its taken quite alot to talk my Italian husband into going with me and I hate to see him weasel out of it. |
Looked out my office window and starting to see the snowflakes cming down slowly at this moment here in NYC. I heard on the news we're expecting up to 8 inches tonight and ANOTHER 8 inches on Saturday!! I'm used to cold winters, and love the fact that we get 4 actual seasons here, but I still have my days of hating the cold!
and Judyrem, you can trade with me, I've been meaning to get to the gulf coast! |
Can y ou see the Dolphins playing in the snow at the Gilette Stadium and the famous mini plow cleaning off the snow Sunday.. As we sit home with our hot toddies... BTW the snow the last I heard has been downgraded...
|
...And one of my favorite events of the year, the December De Anza flea market will, in all probability, be rained out tomorrow here in the SF Bay area. Bummer!
|
I LOVE seasons, even winter. We have a place in Naples, FL but choose to spend winters in New England because we ski in VT at least 2 days a week. Last week, it was 3 degrees with windchills way below 0 while skiing. Didn't mind. Big storm coming tomorrow - a foot or more of snow. I'm looking forward to it. Like FL weather a little at a time but it does get boring to me after a while. Grew up in New England so I guess it's just in my blood. To each his own. It would be great if everyone got to live where they preferred and it's a good thing that we don't all prefer the same place!!
|
Snow's that white stuff that falls from the sky, isn't it? OK, I'm looking out the window now....but don't there have to be clouds in the sky first?
