I posted this question a couple of days ago, but am trying it with a new topic.

When we travel we go I-35 to I-40. A friend will be traveling from Tulsa and ask which was better I-35 to I-40 or I-35 to I-44 to I-40. Is one of these faster, shorter, less traffic? They won't be going through during rush hour. Told them I would try to find out. Thanks

I can't quite visualize your question. They are coming in from Tulsa on I-44. Where are they trying to wind up?

I think you want I-44. Going all the way on I-40 is a lot longer route. try google maps, mapquest, or mapsonus

Sorry Ackislander that I wasn't clear. The drive will be through Oklahoma City on their way to Amarillo TX. Coming in on the Turner Turnpike from Tulsa to I-35. Checked mapquest for them, and it shows going South I-35 then 44 to I-40. Like I said, we have only gone I-35 straight down to I-40 then West. Therefore we weren't able to tell them the difference between the two routes as far as distance, traffic,easy of driving, etc. Hoping someone from OK that drives often in the city could tell us if one is better than the other or if it is a toss up. I live in Oklahoma, but don't drive that exact route very often. However, the mapquest direction is the best way by far.

Google shows I-44 to I-40, so I would guess there is no big difference.

I don't live in OKC, only visit my mother in law, but she lives in the southern part of the city, so I don't have any helpful experience. Sorry.

From Tulsa, take the turnpike *all the way* until it ends in Yukon (just west of OKC) and exits onto I-40. There is no need to get off at I-35 and go south to I-40. Turn pike cuts off a lot of driving.
