And don't forget afternoon icecream!
|
Those 2 are excellent.
You'll be walking everywhere, so you might or might not gain some weight. Heck it's Charleston. Nobody cares! Can't help you with the ice cream. |
What happened to Husk? I don't see it...
|
You mean on the RW list? There are places that don't participate. FIG never does. McCrady's does though, and they are both owned by the same guy.
|
Magnolia's for lunch
FIG for the earth and local farmer The Ordinary for dinner (reservations a must) mostly fresh, local seafood |
Such great choices. Thanks RN and suewoo. I'm revisiting the websites.
|
Next question - based on the above list where we will be having dinners - dress code. Will capris and a nice top for me and slacks and polo shirt for hubby work? Can he get away with nice jeans instead of slacks?
Almost time! |
Absolutely. You'll see people in the nicer places in work clothes, since many people go straight from work to dinner. But casual is fine. Remember, the weather will likely be warm, but the AC in some places will be crankin' so you might want a light sweater too.
|
OK - doing some switching around.
Dropped McCrady's in favor of 82 Queen. Dropped Tristans in favor of Carter's Kitchen as I read he is starting to serve Coconut Cake during Restaurant week!! --- Thinking about dropping High Cotton [they don't post their RW menu until day of... not sure I want to risk that as some places don't have options, just a single menu] and subbing either Low Country Bistro or Poogan's Porch?? What say yee? Any others to replace High Cotton? |
The Macintosh?
|
I wouldn't replace HC with either of those but I just really like High Cotton. I think NOT posting the menu means they will be using what's fresh. Might not be a bad thing. You can also order off the regular menu if the special doesn't suit you. There are usually three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts you can choose from.
Poogan's is just okay. With so many great places I'd go somewhere else. Carter's is great. There was a flap about that cake, when he could start using the recipe (his grandmama's) , but now he's got the rights back or whatever. You won't regreat that one. |
Thanks Sue, I appreciate it. I will stick with High Cotton.
|
You know what you COULD do: go to brunch at HC on the weekend. Get the Island Cocktail woohoo. Theire flounder at brunch is delicious if they have it.
Then you could pick another spot that posts the special menu. It's almost time! I'm jealous...... I miss Chucktown! |
We don't have a weekend as we arrive mid-afternoon on Sunday and leave Fri morning.
I am sure we will be a ok, no matter what! |
|
Perfect. Will be there over Thanksgiving weekend.
|
A friend's husband works at Macintosh (she works at FIG which I did not realize until she came up and hugged me...she was a manger at Flemings in Richmond before they recently moved back to Charleston).
Our dinner at FIG last Saturday was one of the best meals I've ever had. There was not a dud dish (between the 4 of us we had 8 different items over three courses) and the service was perfect. I want to try other places when we go back, but it will be hard not to automatically go back to FIG. |
Janet, that is so true. When I lived down there I went there more often than anywhere else. Oh we went to other places, but FIG was ALWAYS a winner.
DebitNM, great write up! Thanks for doing it. DId you have a good time? Did the weather cooperate? What else did you do? |
Thanks Deb! Going to rethink my dinners in November.
|
I'll do a trip report in the next few days.
