Anyone ever wonder what the "regular" posters on this board do for a living?
 

Does anyone ever wonder that the "regular" posters on this board do for a living. I'm not criticizing anyone, but it seems like some people are able to post all day and some people have alot of knowledge of so many places.

Why don't you get us started, Tia? What do you do that allows you to post in the middle of the day?

I'm not a "regular", but I do have a good time reading the posts from time to time. Anyway, I teach Spanish and Italian at a private school in Westchester County, New York. Sometimes I check in during a break or lunchtime.

I'm not sure who the regular posters are anymore. But as one of the old-timers who got to know some of the other old-timers, we are (and I expect the newcomers are as well)in all sorts of industries and have access to the internet both at work and at home and, most of all, love to travel and love to share what we have learned, good and bad. And we're not afraid to ask questions.

I'm not sure that I'm truly a "regular" but I certainly visit the forum often enough and do post when I think can offer input that's of help to someone.<BR><BR>I work as a sales engineer providing training, pre and post sale technical support to our clients and sales staff for a small company in the network management tools business. I'm on the Internet much of the day for business reasons and also have lenghts of time where customers are implementing a procedure while I wait on the phone - a bit of surfing helps break up the time.<BR><BR>As for knowledge of a lot of places? I haven't been fortunate enough to travel extensively until the past couple years but have always been a naturally inquisitive person who seems to absorb and retain lots of information/details about places I do visit. In the past several years I've been lucky enough to travel much more extensively and enjoy sharing what I've seen, experienced or observed (or learned from others). I also relocated to the NYC area by choice three years ago after visiting several times as a tourist and a number of times on business. I absolutely LOVE spending time in Manhattan. Sharing what I know (or my admittedly biased opinions) about the city is something I enjoy and feel fortunate to be able to share.

I've always enjoyed reading Owen's posts. Informative and well written. We're lucky to have this East Coast resource.<BR><BR>I work for myself and therefore can post as often as I choose. Like Owen, I often have extra time while waiting for a client on the phone. <BR><BR>

I'm a stay at home mom in San Diego. I check in frequently, and offer info if I think I can, although I'm not as 'traveled' as many others out here. I also print threads if they interest me for future traveling, when my kids are older.

I am a full-time Mom but I work when kids are in school (they are teenagers now). My only access to computer without dragging a kid off (when s/he is Instant Messaging a friend while talking to the same friend on the phone) is early AM before work. Sometimes I sneak on after work before kids are home because sometimes these posts are comic relief from my job.

Thanks for the compliment Tina - now if I would just learn how to type properly I could do something about my endless stream of typos (oddly enough I'm a good speller but the keyboarding thing continues to elude me with all bu three poorly aimed fingers!).

as a frequent reader and occasional poster on this board I thought this was an interesting question and look forward to reading about everyone..as for me, I work at a small college in the Northeast and have a hectic "feast or famine" schedule in the admissions office..I'm either doing ten things at once or twiddling my thumbs..usually twiddling time leads me to the internet and Fodor's is one of my favorite browses.

I'm a secondary school vice principal. I read this for comic relief or else I'd go bonkers.

Also a regular browser-I'm a receptionist at a printing co. here in the Atlanta area...a stones throw to "spaghetti junction".<BR><BR>My husband and I became empty-nesters 4 years ago, and we began traveling soon after.Hey...it's our time now!

Lolly's right...some of these posts get me laughing out loud so hard! People in the cubicles nearby must think I'm nuts!<BR><BR>Did you guys see the one titled "MUDSLINGING" a while back?<BR><BR>Hilarious! We're a mess.

I am a teacher at a community college in Myrtle Beach SC. I check out this board intermittently when I'm taking a break. My work schedule is somewhat non-traditional, so I probably post at times when others are hard at work.<BR><BR>Also, I have to admit that I like to take small breaks after working on something for 2 or 3 hours. I gave up the nose-to-the-grindstone 5+ hours at a stretch routine, and I am glad I did.<BR><BR>I wish I had been to more places. I love reading some of these posts. I try to restrict my participation to helping out with specific questions about which I have some experience--or to opinions not calling for any particular knowledge on my part.

I post here a lot, sometimes go by my initials nmm. I'm a stay at home spouse w/o kids & get to spend a lot of time traveling. Love to talk about my favorite hobby & give help when I can = )

Well Cindy K I think you need to start paying the people here for your articles or else get off your lazy butt and do your own research. And you wonder why no one likes travel writers....

I am a CMP - I manage Corporate Events and Incentive travel for groups of 100 - 1,000. I also manage corporate travel.

cd, what on earth is "theory cosmotology"? If it's "cosmetology" and you work with hair/beauty, etc., what is the theory? Or are you dealing with theories about the cosmos?<BR><BR>(Now you can probably guess what kind of pain-in-the-wazoo profession I have.)
