My solo trip to Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania is in the works here: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...mania-1656852/

It was a bit of an adventure, but worked out really well as a solo trip. I'm not sure if I know anyone personally who would have enjoyed all of it, although there were parts where I could see one or another. But the solo part worked out just fine!

Loving your report.

There was a 'Solo Travel' tag . . . just like there is now

suze Nov 16th, 2019 12:58 PM

Difference is people actually used it. Which they don't now.

Take your backpack and go on an adventure by yourself, even if it is in a city a few hours from yours. You will discover a lot about yourself. :yay:

This is nice! I am a solo traveler myself and it took me a lot of guts to get to what I can comfortably do now but I have yet to explore other destinations beyond our state. Thank you for posting this!

Well, hi! It’s been a bit—haven’t traveled solo in a while, except a wee trip to Costa Rica, but here’s my solo-in-a-group (of three!) trip to Madagascar.

Wow, some amazing places here and it's motivating and inspiring to know you traveled solo! Very brave to visit Peru and Panama! I'm planning this one so will go through it now.

Thanks for topping this thread, Amy!

I'm firmly committed to solo travel, as I find it an incredibly self-indulgent luxury. :) A toast to the privileges of travel without compromise! (Well, except for compromises with oneself.)

I linked my trip reports into this thread earlier. I'm fortunate to have travelled solo to quite a few places for which I haven't written trip reports. In case anyone, and particularly other women, have questions, my other solo trips of 3 weeks or longer include, in alphabetical order:
  • Cambodia,
  • Croatia and other parts of the former Yugoslavia (Sarajevo, Mostar, Bay of Kotor, a few days in Slovenia),
  • France (Paris and to the west -- parts of Normandy, Brittany, the Dordogne, etc.),
  • Italy (southern: Sicilia, Campania, Matera, & Puglia),
  • Japan,
  • Mexico (the Yucatan and Chiapas),
  • Portugal,
  • Romania, and
  • Spain (central -- Madrid and surrounds -- and Andalusia).
Ask away!

Thanks for the Inspiration – Here’s a Solo Travel Gem I Found

Wow, I love this idea – thanks for pulling these all together! I’ve just started exploring solo travel myself, and reading trip reports like these gives me a weird combo of wanderlust and comfort. 😅

I haven’t been to nearly as many places as you (yet!), but seeing destinations like Vietnam, Malta, and Iceland on your list is super inspiring. I especially loved the “100 Best” format – makes me want to do something similar for my next trip.
