Hi - we are planning a trip with two kids (ages 7 and 3.5) to Brasil in December - primarily as I can get miles tickets to Sao Paulo. I was wondering if there were recommendations for an itinerary. Happy to move around (including countries) and take a few short flights. Would be good to spend a few days on the beech and do some fun stuff for the kids but pretty much a clean slate in terms of ideas. We are headed over from the UK. Thanks so much all.
We recently flew to Iguasu Falls from Buenos Aires and stayed at the Belmont on the Brazil side. The falls are magnificent as is the hotel (including a great pool and an amazing breakfast buffet).
Hi there!
I am from the UK myself and also had a 2 week trip in Brazil. It really depends on what you are after, Nature, Culture, Beaches, city life? Maybe you can clarify? The basics are Rio, Iguassu, Salvador, the Amazon and maybe Pantanal. In terms of beaches for the kids, the Northeast and Bahia have in my opinion the most beautiful beaches in the world, also if you visit Fortaleza there is beach park, an amazing waterpark.
I would remember though that in December the hotel prices can go up (over Christmas and New Year) and this price rise is often extreme in Brazil.
Let me know what you are thinking and Ill see if I can shoot you some suggestions.
All the best
John

Thanks John - think we have a little more clarity now - flying into Rio so will spend 3/4 days there. Planning to spend 2/3 days in Salvador and then drive down from Rio to Sau Paulo. Doing a side trip to the falls for a couple of days from Rio. Staying one night at the Belmond and one at a cheaper place as we get in late that night. Will likely try and do both sides for the falls. Plan to spend 3-4 nights on the way to Sao Paulo - likely in Paraty and Ilhabella - then a couple of nights in Sao Paulo and back. As we are there for new years eve - may stay someplace close to the beach for that as apparently the thing to do. Any suggestions you have on the above would be great - things to do/avoid etc. Thanks so much. Originally Posted by johntaisteal
