Hi Nicci,

Your report has been so helpful--my husband and I are going to be in Argentina for 3 weeks in March visiting his family, but taking side trips to Iguazu, Mendoza and Cordoba.

We've emailed Buenos Aires Tours, but have not heard back yet. Do you have a phone number?

Did Isabel reserve your activities for you in each place, or did you do that once you got there?

thanks so much!

Does anyone have phone contact information for Cintia and wow arentina? She is helping us plan a trip and I'd like to call her but there's no info on their website and I haven't heard back via email!
Thanks

We are planning a trip in May and are interested in how you booked your flights within Argentina. Additionally, will we need a car? We plan to visit the falls and the Patagonia area.

NYGirl,

We just returned from a trip similar to what you are planning. We spent 3 days in BA, 4 nights in Iguazu, 4 nights at Glacier National Park, and the last 3 nights in BA. We had a terrific time. We booked the trip (including internal flights) with Cintia and never needed a car. The taxis in BA are so inexpensive, not like NY. We could taxi from one end to the other for less than $10USD, and our usual ride with tip was $4. Cintia arranges transfers to and from the airports. In Iguazu, we stayed at the Sheraton so could get to all the sights easily. We hired a taxi to go to the Brazil side (no passport needed). The taxi station is right at the Sheraton. We stayed at H. Los Notros in Patagonia and they arranged all the excursions which were included in the rate. The only thing I would change about our itineray is that I would only stay 3 nights rather than 4 in Iguazu.

Nicci-
My husband and I are going to Argentina next Monday and I have a quick question for you re Angelica and her rates -did the 100 per day cover hotels? Or did you pay for the hotels in Purmamarca etc. separately?
Thanks!
ADF

Hi Nicci,
Sorry, another question! I can't find eternautus tours in BA anywhere - where did you find them?
Thanks!

NYGAL, you can find all the answers you want under "Flights BA to Mendoza". The only thing that was not discussed there is that nobody knows how long SW Air will be in the business. I bought 4 round trip tickets and I am holding my breath. Good luck.

Thanks Dr. D! I was looking up the wrong spelling.

Nikki your report was just what I was looking for.

My husband and I,and 4 friends will arrive in BA 2 June. We have been researching a trip to the Iguazu Falls and like many others found that the airfare if booked out of Argentina is twice the price.

We have contacted a couple of agencies on the net for quotes for tours, but felt that if we could arrange the airfare and accommodation it would be much cheaper to do it on our own once we had arrived. This seems to be just what you did. But many thanks for your recommendation of Isabel. I have emailed her and am awaiting a reply.

I have taken note of your information about trips on the Argentinian side, as we Australians also have to pay a lot for a Brazilian visa for only a half day visit.

Wish we had time to see more of Argentina, but we are heading for Bolivia and Peru. Maybe we will come back to Argentina in Summer and go south to the mountains and the glaciers.

Again many thanks.

Excellent trip report !.
Just a couple of suggestions.
a) Everything in Recoleta will probably be more expensive , its an expensive
and touristic area.
b) Tigre Delta ( donīt mentioned in the report) area is an excellent alternative for a day tour for visitors staying a week or more. Try a private tour
in the Delta ( starting U$S 300 aprox.)
For budget oriented from the Tigre Pier
public boats will do a nice 1 hour tour for U$S 5 per pax, Tren de las Costa is
a good option to reach Tigre .

Hi, Nicci.
Your report is very helpfull. We are planning our vacation to So. Am. Flying frm LA CA 12/15/05 to Santiago, Chile(2 dys), Buenos Air.(4-5 dys), Iguazu(2 dys), Montevideo(1dy), Rio De J.(3dys) and back to LA 12/30/05. Frm BA we'll fly to Rio (RT) with 1dy stop in Montevideo. Also we fly frm BA to Iguazu (Rnd Trip).Your opinion?
Where we have to be on Cristmass, to be less affected by celebration, prices & closed places.
I already started with "ArgentinaGo", but decided to change for your advice.
Thanks for prices & info.

Govagco - I am sure you will get good service from the travel agent you choose to go with, but if you had read other listings, argentina go gets rave reviews. I had a wonderful experience with them and would not hesitate to use Argentinago again. Veronica couldn't do enough for me and followed through on everything. Have a good trip.

Sorry for the delay in response. I only check this forum every couple of weeks or so.

Minnamac: Glad to hear my posting helped you in planning your upcoming trip to Argentina. Isabel with Buenos Aires Tours is a fantastic Travel Agent who knows her country very well. She'll also hook you up with the best rates available. As another recent reference from this site, SUYO on 3/28/05 posted a trip report that Isabel planned for them.

Govacgo: I'm glad I could assist you as well. I've learned it's very important to do your research. When you read positive or negative posts on certain travel companies, it's a good idea to check the credibility of the person posting by clicking on their name. It will reveal if they are really travelers or an Agent promoting their services. Beware of those who have never posted on this site before. Anyone can create a new handle.

Hi Minamacc, I hate packages but regarding Iguazu it turned out to be better and less expensive that on your own. Check carefully.

susan300 May 12th, 2005 02:17 PM

People on this forum are generally honest and you can trust their recommendations re: travel agents. I think it's a particular inappropriate thing to say that someone from a travel agent might be writing in the forum under the guise of someone else. Again if you do a check on Argentinago.com this person's original posting is the only negative one. However, that being said, I do recommend you find out for yourself by talking to more than one before making a decision. Again, my experience with this company was terrific.

Thought I would mention another travel agency in BsAs which did a superb job setting up hotels, tours and internal flights for me a year ago. Mercedes is the person who handled it for me. Website is argentinaescapes.com
