Bellaboo! I've missed you! Think about fairly often when I remember 2 places you've been that I still want to go--Isla Providencia and that little place near Puerta Vallarta, yelapa?

Sounds like you guys have been busy--congrats on your kids' accomplishments--gee they've grown up!

Nice to "see" ya!

hipvirgochick Feb 14th, 2011 11:23 AM

Jaguarman -- Of course you are more than welcome to join us - you will be our guest of honor! You know the dates so just keep us posted on when we can meet up. :-)

Percy -- Tsk, tsk, you'll be missing yet another fabulous time, but of course I'll take you up on the drinks. ;-)

tully Feb 14th, 2011 04:51 PM

faithie so glad to hear from you, it's been a while! Cool on getting the kids certified.

bellaboo Feb 15th, 2011 06:12 AM

Thanx Tully! Almost made it to Costa Rica, next time.....just peeked at your Osa pics, they were great. Looking at the Cabinas, trying to choose the best one for us, also looked at Paloma Lodge($$), and Lapa Rios($$$), yikes! Always seem to come back to Bosque.

bellaboo Feb 15th, 2011 07:09 AM

I'm thinking the "classic" cabinas( Pizote, etc.) are the best option for us? I'm getting confused with their choices..., lol.

hipvirgochick Feb 15th, 2011 10:04 AM

bellaboo -- Pizote has been completely rebuilt and it's not a classic anymore it's a deluxe. It was/is one of my favorite spots but if you want a classic Sol next door is just as great.

shillmac Feb 15th, 2011 06:14 PM

Yeah, and Sol has that shower. . . . .

:D

tully Feb 26th, 2011 04:38 AM

Deb I was just thinking about you, wondered if you ever got to see the pic? Because Philip has a weekly blog and a few days ago he updated with even more photos (stunning!) and a lot of background info. http://felipedelbosque.wordpress.com/

Deb15July Feb 26th, 2011 05:32 AM

Thanks for the update tully. Very nice pics in the link, but will have to read the blog later.

Unfortunately, our plans for a vacation to CR or Belize are non-existent at this time. Those damn airfares are outrageous this year. Still hoping that will change, but nothing has moved down...only UP!!!

But...headed to New Orleans next weekend for Mardi Gras, so at least we get to go somewhere. :-)

steph270 Feb 26th, 2011 02:05 PM

Great pics!!! Bookmarked to read later :-)

LindainOhio Feb 28th, 2011 04:01 PM

DEAN45
After taking the Pacific Trail down to the beach, you will pass the rocks, pass the tidepools then look for the turtle nesting sign "43". You will see the 43 just tacked on a tree. Follow the stream, right after the sign, to the waterfall.

Wish I could join you al for the GTG. We also fell in love with BDC on our first visit last May.

tully Mar 6th, 2011 06:32 AM

topping for anyone thinking of staying at Bosque the first week of July :)

Deb15July Mar 9th, 2011 05:56 PM

I keep hoping!

shillmac Mar 10th, 2011 03:02 PM

deb, are you still thinking about it?

Deb15July Mar 10th, 2011 03:44 PM

Still thinking, but not much progress has been made. Just got back from New Orleans last night after several crazy days at Mardi Gras, so now I can focus on the next trip!

Hubby wants to do a couple of one week vacations instead of one extended one. He really wants to go to the beach...for years and years we went to Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. The whole family loved it, but kids are grown and I would prefer somewhere else for a change.

I was considering a week in CR split between the Dominical area and BDC, but the air fares are still thru the roof. Plus I'm not sure if that would give us enough time.

I'll keep checking in!

hipvirgochick Mar 11th, 2011 08:30 AM

two puma cubs and mama just spotted on teak plantation trail yesterday. :-)

tully Apr 14th, 2011 06:25 PM

ttt with a link to Philip's blog (Bosque's Biologist) http://felipedelbosque.wordpress.com/

Deb15July Apr 15th, 2011 06:18 AM

All,
Doesn't look like the GTG is in the cards for us this year. Airfares are too high and DH wants to split his vacation into two trips. One will be to the beach (we can drive) and the other to San Fran and Monterrey area.

Hope you have fun and I look forward to all the pics. Maybe next time.

hipvirgochick Apr 15th, 2011 07:34 AM

airfares ARE crazy! i'm so glad i had ff miles to use. have a great vacay wherever you go deb!

tully Apr 26th, 2011 05:41 PM

Just thought I'd note to anyone considering a green season trip to Bosque they are running a green season special right now, on their website rates page.

Deb15July Apr 26th, 2011 07:05 PM

Tully,
Just turn the screw a little tighter! :-)

tully Apr 26th, 2011 07:15 PM

My pleasure :D

BAJJ Apr 27th, 2011 06:45 AM

We changed our itinerary a couple weeks ago and were able to take advantage of that 20% off, green season deal! We'll be spending 5 nights there in June, and I just found out we're going to be in Cabina Sol. We can't wait!

tully Apr 27th, 2011 11:19 AM

Good deal! What dates in June?

BAJJ Apr 27th, 2011 12:03 PM

The 17th through the 22nd. I'm a little worried about my kids and pit vipers, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

shillmac Apr 27th, 2011 02:40 PM

BAJJ--it's a stand off. The pit viper parents are worried about your kids, too! Okay, that's not funny, I know.

Those creatures do a good job of steering clear of us humans--you'll be okay. You know, it is never good to go traisping through the grass after dark in flip flops, but with a little common sense and caution, your kids will be as safe as can be and have a great time, too!

Deb15July May 1st, 2011 03:05 PM

Well tully the GTG is out of the question this year. Will be going to San Fran instead in June and Cape San Blas,FL in Sept.

I'll be posting some questions soon on the CA forum if you have recent info on N. CA.

Have fun at BDC though...I'll be wishing I could be there!

tully May 2nd, 2011 04:13 AM

Sorry we will miss you Deb, have fun in SF!

Dyer May 9th, 2011 03:59 PM

BDC - oh, I am dreaming. Told shillmac that I will meet (for the first time) she and you, tully, in 2013 for sure. Hoping Percy will be there then too. Daughter's wedding in less than a month, one of her bridesmaid's wedding in Santa Cruz, CA the middle of July. Germany in 2012 to visit a nephew in the Service (My furthest flight over an ocean was to Hawaii in 2008, at the age of 54 yrs. old). Then the fun year of planning DH's and my return trip to CR. The dream of visiting the OSA - hopefully will come true. Oh, the anticipation. Have so much fun this yr. everyone.

Percy May 9th, 2011 07:44 PM

Hi Dyer:

Nice of you to think of me.

Sorry I will not be there as I will be just return from a month in Eastern Europe .

I believe the Get- Together is from July 2- July 9th.

Anyway,I am buying the drinks, and since you will not be there this year, I will still buy you a drink in 2013. :)

tully May 10th, 2011 03:50 AM

Sorry you can't make it dyer but hopefully in 2013, you too Percy! Sounds like you both have some good trips coming up.

Percy I don't think we'd make too much of a dent for buying drinks. Shillmac and I met up Saturday for brunch and were both hard pressed to even finish up our small pomegranate mimosas. We just talk a big game :)

Percy May 10th, 2011 07:58 AM

Hey but tully but you will be there for over a week!!!

A drink a day keeps me away :)

hipvirgochick May 10th, 2011 11:58 AM

speak for yourself tully. ;-)

tully May 10th, 2011 02:49 PM

True true, I forgot hip will make up for us lightweights. I'll tell you right now though Missy, you go tearing off giggling on one of the trails on our walk back to Miramar - you're on your own! :)

Percy May 10th, 2011 03:37 PM

hipvirgochick..... you may be on your own , but you will be
happy and carefree :)

and seeing two Quetzuls when there is only one is an added bonus !!!!

shillmac May 10th, 2011 07:57 PM

You "guys" are cracking me up! :D

Think there's gonna be a lotta laughing at the GTG! 2013 sounds like it is shaping up to be quite a shindig! Maybe we should post it now and see what happens! :)

Dyer, that would be sooo cool. Know you're busy (and excited)now. . .Germany next year sounds really nice. You'll have a great time!

hipvirgochick May 31st, 2011 09:34 AM

Sadly, airfare has been getting so high this year people are having a tough time getting away. It may not be too late for some of those last minute "deals" though...I'm glad I snagged the FF ticket quite some months ago because I'm not sure I could swing it at today's prices from Seattle. Ugh.

We're at the one month countdown...

Can't wait to see you all - humans and critters alike!

P.S. Percy, in case you don't see the recent thread posted by shillmac, THANK YOU for the booze fund. :-)

Deb15July May 31st, 2011 09:55 AM

Sorry I will miss it, but I'm headed to San Fran instead! I could afford the flight there. LOL

Jaguarman May 31st, 2011 10:36 AM

Pura Vida Amigas,
Now that the days are coming closer, would it be possible for me to get-together with you Osa Lovers on the afternoon of July 4? I'll camp in the local area that night, and if your interested we could do a night hike together looking for frogs and other nocturnal animals, and maybe a fire on the beach to celebrate your Independence Day. This would be the best day for me to meet up with you all.

hipvirgochick May 31st, 2011 12:14 PM

That sounds wonderful Ballardo! Pasha will send you a private message on Facebook. It will be great to meet you and a night hike sounds perfect. :-)
