kismet....

rome is such a great place. Whenever I see st Peter's..I smiel when I think of the view from the cuppola at the top of the dome.

kismetchimera Mar 4th, 2005 08:17 AM

From the Cupolone the view of Rome is absolutely magnificent!!
Dick ,up to few years ago, everytime I went back to Rome I used to climb the tourtous steps that led up to the Cupolone, but now I just admire the view from the first floor and of course I take the elevator..
I hate to admit that my mind think that I am still very young, but my body say: No Way...:)

BC, Cristina and Brooke look toward our meeting..La mia famiglia salut You and made you a honorary Rome's Citizen.:)

Dick Mar 4th, 2005 08:21 AM

The steps that go around the exterior of the dome are great....if only they could talk

kismetchimera Mar 4th, 2005 08:39 AM

I wish that I was able to go back in time for only a day, just to see whats was like to be a Roman back then..

suehoff Mar 4th, 2005 09:46 AM

Happy to say that we are going 10 May to 24 May (see I'm already European), have loved all the advice, bought a gsm phone, photocopied volumes of notes, made museum reservations and fretted about packing LIGHT-yikes! Been drinking Italian coffee and wine to get in the spirit-can hardly wait. My two college kids are headed to Italy on 19 March so 'll have a vicarious preview!

welltraveledbrit Mar 4th, 2005 09:49 AM

I'll be in Venice for four nights with my mother at Easter...I can't wait!

krix Mar 4th, 2005 09:57 AM

eurogals Mar 4th, 2005 11:11 AM

My husband and I and my brother and sister-in-law, are leaving on April 28th for 4 days on the French Riviera before we train into Italy. Will spend time in Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Orvieto, Pienza, San Leonino and the Cinque Terre. Leave Milan for overnight train to Amsterdam where we will walk the canals, eat the Gouda and shop before heading back to the midwest on May 27.

Planning on another trip for 2-weeks to Switzerland (Bernese Oberland) with my daughter in late August, early September.

I just never get enough.

We are going over for our first trip to Rome arriving on May 30!! Four nights in Rome, Five nights in Sorrento, then back to Rome for two days before returning to Texas. HELP!! Suggestions and advice would be great. What's the best way to get from Rome to Sorrento?

sas300m Mar 4th, 2005 02:01 PM

We leave for Italy on March 16!! I can't believe it is here already. We will be in Florence, Rome and London. We received a lot of great information on this board, from packing, to hotels, to restaurants....you name it and we're using most of the ones suggested.

Dog_Mother Mar 16th, 2005 04:40 PM

We leave for our fourth trip to Italy on May 25. We cannot wait.

husband and i will be there (our first time) from May 30 - June 11. Rome, Florence, Venice and Lake Como. Someone tells us don't miss Cinque Terre - should we skip Lake Como and do this instead?

jtspclaw Mar 17th, 2005 07:13 AM

Apr 29 - May 3 [ ROME
May 3 - May 7 - Florence
May 7 - 10 Deruta/Assisi/tuscany areas
May 10-12 Rome and return to VA/GA

Can't wait for my mother to see Italy. It's my fourth trip and her first!

MerryTravel Mar 17th, 2005 07:35 AM

My husband and I will be in Florence May 7-11, then the Cinque Terre (with a stop in Pisa to see the tower!) from the evening of the 11-13, then back to Florence for one night before our flight on the 14th. There's isn't a whole lot of time left for me to convince my husband that a trip to the outlet stores will save us money in the long run!

MaggieOB Mar 17th, 2005 09:13 AM

We'll be in Italy April 29-May 14. We're renting a house in Tuscany a little south of Radda with another couple for the two weeks. Our fourth trip to Italia, there second. Can't wait---also looking forward to a different sort of experience since on our other trips we traveled around to various destinations. But no matter how you do it, you simply can not go wrong with Italy---great food, great wine, great people. Now if only the dollar was a little stronger!!!!!!

chickloveschocolate Mar 17th, 2005 04:17 PM

Finally coming out of lurk mode.....we'll be in Italy May 5 - 16!

Arrive Rome 4/23 and head immediately to Florence (via train) where we've rented a villa for seven days. Planing a side trip to Venice -- would appreciate advise on getting train tickets from Florence to Venice.

Return to Rome for an overnight stay on 4/29. A couple of days in London and then home to Connecticut.

Love this board...I'm positively addicted!!!

jesssica Mar 18th, 2005 09:03 AM
