MAS16: Congratulations on your upcoming marriage and visit to Greece. Please be sure to read the thread:
"Enjoy Athens? You bet we did!" before you leave if you haven't already done so. It has been a long time since our trip to Greece and reading Millie's joyous account of her trip took me back to the time we spent there and all the wonderful memories. Have a wonderful trip and long and happy marriage! (: |
Nowhere. I'm 10.5 weeks pregnant. I need to save vacation time and money. Then we'll have a newborn. Help!! (We are going to Acadia N.P. in two weeks and Chicago in October, but no big, expensive, far-away vacations planned). I'll live vicariously through you all...

CONGRATULATIONS CHRISSY!! :)
While you may not be travelling far for a while, having a baby and raising it will be a wonderful adventure, wherever you are!! Wait and see how many places you will be able to go with a sweet baby strapped to your chest/back :) ((F)) |

My husband has a business trip to Italy and Spain so I'm gong along. We are taking a long weekend in Venice before Milan. We leave September 24 from San Jose-Chicago-Zurich-Venice, Milan, Barcelona, Bilboa, fly back on Oct 8th via London, Chicago, San Jose.
My friends tell me how lucky I am to get to travel with my husband on business but they forget all the time I spent alone, raising the kids when he was traveling. They also forget that he IS on business so I end up spending quite a few days exploring on my own. Not that bad as I can spend as much time as I want in art museums! |
DH also has a business trip to Lucerne next June and we would like to take our two grown children. I say we take 7 to 10 days and spend it in Switzerland, relax and enjoy. DH wants to take them to Switzerland and Italy to see his "hometown" and visit relatives, etc. But after they were both home for this long weekend and, well ...shall we say not getting along .... he's not so sure. lol
I also may have a chance to chaperone a French class with my girlfriend and her daughter on a two week trip to France! But we shall see. |
To NYC for Thanksgiving and to Rome for Christmas. Our NYC son is meeting us in Rome.
|
Just back from visiting our son in Paris with weekend trip in Normandy. Leave mid-September for Italy--Positano, Capri, Umbria, Tuscany, CT--finally, SML, and home from Milan--in October. Then move to Florida--Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano area. November have trip from Miami to Nice and return to Twin Cities for Thanksgiving planned. Need to start planning now for May trip to Italy (with sister who's never been to Europe) and on to Istria, Adriatic coast and Dubrovnik--this one's been on the must do list for a very long time. We always said we'd travel when we retired and we meant it.

Do my own thing for a couple days before heading back to London on Fri the 19th. Own thing again for 2 days and then hooking up w/another CIE Tour on Mon. 9/22. Does London and then heads north through the cotswolds and lake district to Scotland ending up in Edinburg on the 29th. Will take 3 days to drive down the east side of the country leaving from Gatwick on 10/2. Some b'day present to me huh? Am really looking forward to the trip! Hope you are off on your own travels soon. |
Well guys - this is fun. Greetings from Manchester in the UK.
Well hubby and I had two weeks in Barbados in April, are off to Kos in the Greek Isles for another two weeks on 1st October (getting excited now) then two more (are'nt we lucky!!) in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Better than working, but unfortunately I do not even have one day spare holiday to take off work so will have to 'throw a sicky' if I need a day off!! Heather |
Kwoo-I studied abroad in Prague as your daughter is now. it's a terrific city to see and wonderfully central for all sorts of weekend trips!
I went to Germany (Koln, Dusseldorf, Bonn, Heidelberg), Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in June. I am always inspired by all the nearby places of new areas and I am dying to go to St. Petersburg-maybe next year. Just got back from a week in Idaho-Boise and around. Mountains were beautiful, amazing landscapes in Hell's Canyon and most of all wonderful welcoming people! Heading to Chicago soon. i can't wait for some of the fabulous pizza there! |
... my goodness but that fellow DH is one travelling dude. He goes everywhere!!
|
This November we are headed to St. John (my goal is to hit all of the carribean islands before I die).
Christmas will be in Orlando at Disneyworld. Hopefully sometime in April we will be visiting Greece and Italy...still doing lots of research and planning on that one. |
Dahling, Scarlett! Me & mine will be going to Dublin/Adare Village, Ireland; London/Glastonbury, England; and Paris, France late March/early April for 16 or 17 days this coming Spring!! We are all so excited!!! If we must pare down, we may delete Ireland from the trip but definitely PARIS!! :D

Updating our trip progress to Italy:
We sent for our passports last week-they say they're taking less than 4-6 weeks. Ours cost $85.00 for Passport itself, the pictures taken at the post office were another $10.00. I have been listening to Pimsleur's Language Program-Speak Italian in Eight Easy Lessons...it's surprised me how easy the tapes really are(even for a 50 yr.old). I'm now fine-tuning our restaurant choices from all the literature I've read, and we're trying to decide if we want to spend the extra $$$ for a private car from Rome to Sorrento. Arrivederci-buon viaggio! |
