Costa Rica in January.

Hi Scarlett, guess all these trips on a travel forum shouldn't be a big surprise, but it is fun to see where everyone's going! We spent two weeks in Italy in May with 10 friends...that was great. I'm going to Ireland in September with my sister, a friend and one of my daughters...sometimes a "girl trip" is fun. My husband and I will visit his family in Florida in January and we're planning a trip to France in May...Dordogne, Bordeaux and a few days in Paris. Queen Mab, we will be waiting for your trip report!

Seattle-S.F. in Sept. for the Chagall show (and possibly a Fodors get together)

Seattle-Malaga inNovember--3 weeks in Spain--Marbella, Almeria, Murcia, Granada & Cordoba with stopover on way back in London. Will probably start posting with lots of questions when we get back from S.F. Have gotten a wealth of information here already.

Thanks everyone and happy, healthy travels!

We leave for 2 weeks in Hawaii on Saturday. I've been as excited as a little kid and have barely slept in days. We're speading 3 days in Waikiki. I'm a history buff so I'm looking forward to seeing the USS Arizonal Memorial in Pearl Harbor and the National Cemetary. Then we're off to 4 days on the Big Island to see the volcano. (Cross your fingers that we get to see a lava flow!) Then our last week will be on Kauai where we rented a beachfront condo and intend to spend much time laying on the beach like broccoli. The DH just finished his MBA this summer after 3 long years while working full time so he really deserves a break.
Happy travels everyone!

September 12 off to Rome, then on the 16th down to Amalfi Coast (same time as you Dori), then over to a rented house near Assisi until the end of Sept.

Looking forward to Umbria, I haven't been in that area of Italy yet, really want to explore Spello, Assisi, Gubbio and the rest of the towns.

Can't wait to see Positano again either!

Wow, so many great trips to hear about soon.
Mine--Leave NYC Sept 5 for Paris, Barcelona and the Costa Brava. Cannot wait!

Christobel Aug 26th, 2003 02:37 PM

Scarlett - thanks for asking. My hubby and I are leaving this Friday for two weeks - Paris for three days, then drive to Chartres and then to the Loire Valley for four days. Drive back to Paris and fly to Naples for three days on the Amalfi Coast and then three days on Capris. Last night is in Rome. I can't wait!!

And, Alexis823, we were on the Big Island in January and saw the lava flow - it's absolutely incredible!! Stay after sunset so you can see it dripping into the ocean. But be sure to bring a good flashlight (you can buy a cheap one at the entrance to the park) and closed toe shoes to walk out - that hardened lava is SHARP!!

Leaving Seattle September 5th for Frankfurt Airport and return the 28th.
Plan on spending lots of time in Germany, however also booked a room in Paris with Parisperfect for 4 nights starting September 18th.
will have my wife along with our 9 & 6 year old children with us, so should be an interesting time. The kids and I have been to Europe many times, but this will be our first time in Paris, so really looking forward to seeing Paris.
From Paris we will be meeting a group of about 20 American couples in the tiny Black Forest village of Urach. Most of us belong to Bavaria Bens web sight and will be meeting for the first time.
The rest of the time will be spent near Giessen and near Kirchheimbolanden.
Can't

Going to Italy in November (86 days to be exact - WOO-HOO!!). Four nights at Albergo del Senato in Rome, three nights at La Sirenuse in Positano, last night at Hotel Rex in Naples. ALL hotels were reserved after much research and the overwelming recommendations on this site. Saving by using FF miles. Splurging by using Giovanni or Giancarlo of Tour of Italy to drive us from Rome to Positano (with a stopover at Pompeii). Am already mentally packing ... want to save lots of room in the luggage to bring home wine, leather and ceramics! Have been taking private Italian lessons for 10 months -- want to be able to flirt with the Italian men when hubby isn't watching! The excitement level is WAY to high for the trip to be 3 months away!

In early October we are flying to Brussels, then we are taking a train to Bruges for three days, flying to Venice for five nights, train to Ravenna for a night to see the mosaics again, train to Casperia(tiny town in the Sabine Hills) for a couple of days, and then Rome for the last four days.

We are doing it this way because my husband also does not like long overseas flights with plane changes!

Last time we went to Italy almost a year ago, my husband got quite ill the day after we got home again with a bad prostate/bladder infection that took several months to recover from, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that all will be well this trip! I am making him drink lots of water! That is what started the problem last time- he got dehydrated on the return flight because he just wasn't interested in drinking much water!

Am I allowed to tell you where I am going in November? It's not Europe - I'll tell you anyway. I'm off on a 10 night cruise through the islands of Vanuatu and New Caledonia which starts in Fiji and ends, after a short flight from New Caledonia, in Sydney. An "expedition" cruise with lots of snorkeling. It was a half price sale. The whole trip is 16 days.

Hello,
On Oct 23 we leave for Prague to visit my daughter who is studying abroad there for the semester. We will spend 4 days in Prague, staying at the Pension Dientzenhofer. Then we are travelling by train from Prague to Krakow, Poland, where we will spend 3 days. We are staying at the Hotel Saski. Then we are renting a car for 2 days and driving to the village of Krasiczyn, where we will be staying in the Castle Krasiczyn. The village is close to Presyml (sp?), close to the Ukraine border. The drive will follow the Carpathian foothills in southeastern Poland, which I've read is the prettiest part of Poland. We will be staying in the castle on Halloween! Can't wait. Then we plan on taking the overnight train from Krakow back to Prague to drop our daughter off.

francophile03 Aug 26th, 2003 07:39 PM

In the planning stages currently but if everything goes well, we're hoping to visit next year July Paris again with additional visits to Milan and the lakes area, Venice, and Prague.

Wish it were sooner!!
