Tulsa, OK: picture-perfect autumn day: 70 degrees, bright sun, slight breeze, and many of the trees now have a gold or red tinge. This is our first autumn here, and we're amazed at all the fall festivals going on this month. There are pumpkin stands on every corner. Oh, I've missed America's heartland!

In Summit County, CO I woke to 5 inches of snow this morning. But now it's a blistering 33 degrees and it's falling out of the trees.

Judy C - Dallas TX, sunny and beautiful after an ugly week, upper 70s. But it is supposed to storm tonight.

Western 'burbs of Chicago. It is about 60 and kind of dreary today. Our fall foliage is all over the board. Some trees are still green, some have dropped all leaves, and some are in full color. I'm looking at a few of each out the back door right now.

In my office in the city at the moment (lunch break) but live an hour north in the country.

It is 16C, sunny, and there is no other place that I'd rather be in the Autumn/Fall than here in Southern Ontario, Canada.

This morning as I drove to the train station, the countryside looked like it was on fire, everywhere painted in brilliant shades of Red, Orange, Yellow and Gold. I keep a disposable camera in the glove compartment and today I put it to use.

Reno, NV Cool mornings in the mid 30's. Wonderful days in high 60's low 70's. Trees are just starting to turn. Frankly, we are on about our 5th year of drought so I'm actually wishing for some not so nice weather, except it's still been warm enough that I'm still getting tomatoes and I hate to see them all black and frost bitten. But so far the fall season has been georgous here.

I am midway between SuzieC and Suki!

There's a beech tree outside my window that's going golden, and just a few leaves of a different color on the oaks.

But in a week or so, it'll be a different story. Best foliage time around here is usually the last week of October.

And then I start my four months of depression. . .

Molvania. Its about 34 degrees with tennis-ball sized hail, sleet and howling winds. Looking forward to an ice storm this evening followed by about a foot of wet snow.

Perfect fall weather to go mole hunting. Man. I love this undiscovered bit of heaven!

Waukesha, Wisconsin...it's a beautiful crisp autumn day in the 60's and the leaves are very colorful. I'm off tomorrow to Orlando for the weekend for Halloween Horror nights and just can't wait! :)

beachbum Oct 13th, 2004 11:29 AM

Physically in Portland, OR where it's a beautiful, sunny 70 degree day. Mentally.... that's another question.

Ozarksbill Oct 13th, 2004 11:37 AM

This doesn't sound like a posting for Europe, but anyway here in the Missouri Ozarks it is an absolutely beautiful day, sunny and in the 60s. We had lots of rain but that was relief for a dry September.

Festivals...sure lots of them in Missouri with parades and such. After the hurricanes I wrote a Florida friend who moved from Missouri: I thought you told us Florida was heaven on earth!

She wrote back about the custody battle where a child was taken away from some parents who beat him. The court made a decision about who would get custody...Kansas City Chiefs because they won't beat anybody!

In Vacaville CA (southern end of Sacramento Valley) breathing the terrible smoke from the Yolo County/Napa County fire. Otherwise it would be a beautiful day. Last evening the air was even worse.
And just heard on the noon news that the terrible fire was evidently arson.
Marilyn, don't you smell the smoke"
News showed video from SF looking north (where you are) and sky looked very smoky.

Duluth, Georgia, a few miles northeast of Atlanta. Overcast today, with a high of about 65F, but not bad. Leaves here are about 30%changed to gold, some reds, with browns to come. Lots of activities in the Georgia mountains about now, harvest related, of course.

Incidentally, degas, where do you get all the wonderful scoop on Molvania? Do you know a "mole" in their government?

Fairhope Oct 13th, 2004 11:42 AM

Fairhope Alabama --high 70's, clear, light breeze. Grand Art show this month--used to be AT the Grand Hotel but the hotel built over the space. So it's down by the pier on the bay ---it is very pleasant.
No color here except dead leaves on dead trees from Ivan! I hear the sound of chain saws as I write!

New York is sunny & unseasonably warm today, probably around 70. The leaves are just starting to turn.

I always feel like the Columbus Day parade is a fall celebration and I watched it on Monday. It was cool and crisp, perfect Fall weather.

teacherlady Oct 13th, 2004 12:09 PM

Hey LoveItaly, did you see the sun early this morning? It was a big red ball, due to the smoke. Cool-looking, but sad too.

Borealis Oct 13th, 2004 12:12 PM

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (53.5 degrees north latitude)

We've had an early autumn this year - the best leaf colors (mostly golds and brilliant yellows of the birches and poplars) were one to two weeks ago, lots of leaves on the ground now.
Mixed weather today - some sun, some cloud, some rain, some wind. Temp right now is only 16C (= 61F).
I have lots of blue jays, chickadees, nuthatches, wrens and sparrows visiting my feeders. Squirrels like to raid it too.

The forecast for this weekend is scary - frosty and even perhaps. . . the "S" word. . . . shudder!!. . . . .yes, snow :-o .
