Hopefully our entire family will be in Italy this summer if I can get decent airfares. This winter though we are heading somewhere warm and in a US territory - the US Virgin islands. By the way, travel from the UK to the US has dropped off too. It works both ways.

I just got back from Budapest & Vienna -had a pleasent, quick trip - it was quiet but I was expecting that. Not nearly as cold which was a pleasent surprise. Did get snow in both places which added nice ambience.

We are coming soon! We are flying into Dublin, then Dingle, out of Cork to London, then Paris, then Florence then Rome! Since September we have traveled to Breckenridge, taken a Princess cruise out of Puerto Rico, headed to Stowe, Vt. on Jan. 2. We got in from Bermuda Sept.9. We also are going to Rio in April. So... we are far from "staying home"!

I'm coming for the New Year. Two friends and I are doing a whirlwind 3 cities in 5 days trip. Dublin-London-New York. I love Europe having lived there for two years. Can't wait for this much needed break!

Hey Meg,
Not to worry things will pick up. Thanks for the invite...nothing would make me happier. Nothing could stop me from traveling (even though I live in Boston). I went to Taiwan in October for two weeks and I am already planning my next trip to Vienna in March. But London is where my heart is...its always on the top of my list!
Julie

I'm dying to get over there. May not be for a few months more, if all goes well. Airline ticket prices are staying high, we'll see in the next few months. I still haven't gotten my refund for the tickets I couldn't use due to 9/11.

I've noticed a big drop in tourism here in NYC, too. Sigh.

Our style has not been cramped-- Visited Mexico this past November, and we'll see London in January--carry on, everyone!
I hear that the UK is still much more expensive than Spain, France or Italy. While I look forward to going to the UK some day, guess I will continue to take advantage of the much cheaper rates to the South.

I'm coming as soon I can, but that won't be until late summer, 2002! Gotta save up the money, you know. I'll be a 64 year old woman traveling alone, but I'll be ------ if any stinking terrorist will keep me from traveling!

prizren Dec 14th, 2001 05:10 PM

Thanks for the invitation. My two kids and I are leaving on Wed. for London. I have two married daughters and 2 1/2 grandchildren living there, so of course it is one of my favorite places. Actually, even without the family, I would love the UK, especially in light of your steadfast support both in Kosova and now in Afghanistan.

Hi Meg,

We hope to be there in March! Sure, we're a bit nervous about flying, but we're not going to let some crazy fanatics keep us from living our lives.

Can't wait to see England again (it's been 16 years!) and hear what Brits *really* think of the current world situation! At least we'll have lots to talk about in the pubs! :)

Best,
Julie

Portland, Oregon is in the process of finding a carrier for direct service to London! I can't wait, then I'll come over!

Hi Meg, we will be in London in March for a wedding! Around Hampstead in Belsize Pk...can't wait to see our friends & go to a London wedding, gotta get a big hat:) and then a quick trip to Paris to round it off...this was just a lull for Americans traveling, nothing keeps us down for long!

pj Dec 29th, 2001 12:31 PM

Let's see where have the americans gone? We have been to Ireland, going to Austria soon. Then in March off to Paris!!

Kate Feb 11th, 2002 06:52 PM

Al Feb 12th, 2002 02:43 PM

We're on our way.Next week. Over paid,over xxxxx,over there. Can't wait.

Kim Feb 12th, 2002 03:30 PM

Cliff and I aren't going to let some crazy fanatics bully us! We'll be in London and Scotland at the end of March. Also, doing lots of travel in the US and frequent area restaurants.

KenCT Feb 12th, 2002 04:04 PM

According to many posters, I'm absolutely shameless. I visit the UK annually despite F&M hysteria and "crazy fanatics." I have my obsessions, but they don't include ensuite baths.

Although I always think about getting outside the City, I never tire of wandering around, poking into eccentric little shops, discovering new corners in old museums, experiencing great theatre, and on rare occasions, stopping off for a couple pints.

You homebodys don't know what you're missing.

Jen Feb 13th, 2002 11:45 AM

With the Canadian $ as low as it is we find it even more expensive than ever to visit Britian (just imagine multiplying the costs of those hotels and meals by 1.6 all you American readers). Then we have 2 children and unlike North America there are very few breaks available to families' pocketbooks in Britian.
After Sept 11 we have another reason to stay home.
Having said all that we are arriving in London April 25th and can't wait.....
