I miss grits !! Some say polenta is equivalent to grits, but it isn't. OK, so I'm southern and redneck, but I'd sure love to have some grits for breakfast after a couple of weeks of rolls and cold cuts.

I am from Hawaii so I really miss the fresh, fresh seafood that we get at home. And I miss Spam. (I know you think I am kidding but I'm not!)

I think I would have to be away for over a month to miss anything, though.

KT Nov 15th, 2002 02:33 PM

There was a time that the one thing I really missed was cold. low-fat, non-UHT milk. Fortunately, this has gotten easier to find.

Well I was all set to say a bagel (poppy seeds) with cream cheese and lox (smoked salmon).

Guess what, there are bagel shops all over London and surprisingly enough, the bagels taste just like New York bagels more so in fact than many other places in the USA. It was delicious...

But I do miss vanilla cokes.

Real southern barbeque, no doubt.

Do you Americans realize how pathetic and classless you all sound.

Julie Nov 15th, 2002 03:00 PM

A really thick, juicy steak definitely.

Donovan Nov 15th, 2002 03:08 PM

a BIG JUICY ITALIAN SAUSAGE!

Tiki Nov 15th, 2002 03:11 PM

When I travel to Italy for over a month, I have to have Thai food, pad thai to be exact, so I go though withdrawl.
Also, Mexican food now that I think about it, with some good refried beans and tortillas.

Yankee Nov 15th, 2002 03:12 PM
Unsweet tea.

Ice in drinks.

Susan Nov 15th, 2002 03:16 PM

Yep, grits, eggs, biscuits, and a thick slice of country ham. Breakfast doesn't get any better than that.

Kate Nov 15th, 2002 03:31 PM

I love to try food from all over the world and definitely "take it all in" while I am abroad. Upon returning home however, I sure do love Southern cooking.

Lea Nov 15th, 2002 03:31 PM

I start to miss my fix of stuffed grape leaves and other Middle Eastern food when I am in some countries that I am unsure about buying them in (how is that for a sentence)?

Amy Nov 15th, 2002 03:34 PM

First, my Starbucks coffee

Second, it's really weird but I never ever eat McDonalds at home or abroad, except for the first night I'm home from a long trip, I have such a craving for a Big Mac and fries, it's scary.

kim Nov 15th, 2002 03:37 PM
